Colormix Hotel and Hostel

The hostel and room had everything I needed because I mainly wanted a cheap and central place to sleep and store my luggage, but explore the city / island during the days. The room was tiny but met my requirements. I was positively surprised how little noise I heard from the street and the neighbour rooms. The room and the shared bathroom were clean. The latter was well equipped with soap, shampoo, hair dryer etc.. There were drinking water dispensers, a fridge to store food and kitchen area (roof terrace). Luggage could be stored before check-in and after check-out. There were washing machines and dryers (and a commercial coin laundry next door).

The room window could not be opened. Thus the feeling of real airing was not possible and the room sometimes seemed a bit stinky because of that. However, there was internal ventilation with a fan and the aircondition. If you plan to enjoy time in the common area of the hostel, make sure to pick the right time of year. In July, when I stayed there, the common space on the (open but covered) roof top was even hotter than the streets. So it is almost impossible to spend some longer time there.

The staff in here was amazing. My room had a problem with lights (they went on and off in the middle of the night) but next morning when I talked with them they promised to fix it and so they did. Also everything was surprisingly clean!

One annoyance was that I was accommodated on the second floor but all the facilities for men were on the third floor. Also the room was very moist and you could smell the possible mould too. This might be a standard issue in Taiwan though since the climate is unbelievably steamy.

Location is a few minutes walk from Ximending Night Market and Ximen exit 6 near, had minimal interaction with the staff aside from when i left my luggage, check in and check out, the shower area and comfort room are always clean. My room (10) was in front of the shower are and comfort room which is very nice, easily accessible when needed, there's available water dispenser. There's no window but still comfortable and minimal noise can be heard once the door is closed (only noisy when there's people just outside the door which rarely happened when I was there only when they're cleaning).

Really neat place to stay! Convenient location and decent prices! The room is quite spacious compared to similar places in the area. Bathrooms are locked by keycards, and only males who booked the room can open male bathroom, and vice versa for females - very secure and safe spaces! Clean rooms, close location to Ximen MRT. Sadly I forgot to take any photos or video of the place, but it was really good!!

The hallways have random changes in elevations, and it can be a little surprising to drop down suddenly as they’re not noticeable with the carpets, but otherwise, nothing else bad.

Fantastic location right near to but a little away from the busy shopping district of Ximending. Means you can brave that crowd easily whenever you want to, but also have a quiet respite away from the bustle when necessary. I was really impressed by the facilities. The word 'hostel' gave me pause but I booked a double room in the 'hotel' section and it was lovely. Spacious, very clean, great roomy shower with excellent water pressure, and a really comfortable bed. Free bottles of water in the fridge with a mini-safe available for use too. Solid three-star accomodation that you get for cheaper. There's also a 7-11 and a couple of food stalls nearby that stay open really late so you can get authentic Taiwanese food even late at night. Would definitely stay here again!

Really enjoyed my stay! Nothing bad to report, certainly not for the price I paid.

I booked a room for 4 and we were given the room at the 6th floor which is the only room of the floor,it was quiet,comfortable for us 4 and the room was large,it even has a 2-seater sofa to chill.I am not sure about how the other rooms look like but ours was super nice.The beds were comfortable,the bathroom was clean and basic necessities included. Checking in was quick,it was easy to find and a lot of hole in the wall food stalls if you want to try authentic chinese/taiwanese foods.it even has convenience stores around every block so you won't get hungy🤗 incase you do not like to try aunties/uncles cooking☺️.

The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly! Several of them were able to speak in English (though I preferred to practice my Chinese and they were kind enough to be patient with me and use Chinese instead). The location was near the MRT stop and not hard to find. There is an elevator available. The building's decorations are simple but cheery and tasteful. The bed was very comfortable - not too soft or too hard.

My room was next to the sinks in the women's shower room and every time someone used a sink in there, I could hear the water semi-loudly. Thankfully noise doesn't bother me so I was able to sleep fine, but light sleepers who are bothered by noise might have a problem with this.

Location is great for such an affordable price! If you only need to stay one or a few nights and don't mind sharing a very clean and well-kept bathroom, it's fine. WiFi worked in the room and common areas, rooms were relatively quiet from road noise and hallway noise.

If you get the single room that is the loft, there isn't a lot of room for putting a bag and the stairs up to the bed area are relatively steep. Watch your step at night! Nothing else to complain about.

unbeatable price and location. super close to Ximen station. facilities were kept clean and rooms were small but comfortable as a place to rest at night. amenities are provided and room cleaning upon request. for the price, it’s very good value.

except for one staff (whom I believe is the boss), the rest were not very approachable, though thankfully I never had to approach them. do take note that for single rooms, there are only toilets and showers for one gender for each floor, so if you happen to be staying in a different floor you’ll have to climb the stairs or take the lift to the toilets and showers. thin walls so do prep ear plugs if needed
