Compared to hotels nearby, especially those that go towards Kata beach, it is well-located, almost direct access to the sea. But what "beachfront" means in some other cases (like you step out of the hotel and the beach is right there), the concept at Karon Beach is different, you still need to cross the road. Overall, maybe a couple minutes to reach the beach itself. It is located on the border between Karon and Kata, so there is a pleasant long stroll you can take to explore little cafes at Kata. The staff is helpful and kind. The hotel is of a Thai style, not your international chain kind, which is pleasant. Hotel got a hose to rinse off sand from the feet after the beach - essential. Eye candy of a sea view (for rooms with a sea view), but there is some building in front, so you won't see the beach, just the sea. Quiet area, especially off season.

If compared to those international chain hotels, also price-wise, the room could have been a bit more advanced. For example, with a universal socket or aircon that you guests can regulate (aircon is automatic in this hotel, so you can't adjust it yourself)

I stayed a week at the Baan Shailom. The experience was very good, the restaurant is worth it. The room you want with the excellent view is room 405. You can sit on the balcony outside and watch the most beautiful sunset. I will stay here again, I travelled with valuables there was no security issue. Transport to and from the hotel is a breeze. The beach is about a 100m away. The room was quiet at night, so I was able to have an excellent rest.

The hotel does not do laundry, this is not a major problem because there are a lot of laundry services in the immediate area. Also reception is not in front of the hotel, you have to walk through a part of a restaurant past the pool to get to the reception.

While room was at the front of the hotel road noise was minimal. These rooms are a bit cheaper than the newer rooms at the back, but are a good size with the most comfortable beds. Bathroom is a bit dated but very functional. Small balcony was a bonus. Air Con was super efficient . Location is great, literally 50 m and you are on the beach! Wifi and workspace was OK Hotel restaurant was excellent with good menu and discount for hotel guests The pool area was very nice, small, but private with some shade.

Third floor walk up was a bit of a challenge with a large bag ( I had my diving gear on-board!)

Very conveniently located near to the beach (about a 3 minute walk). Great breakfast, room was spacious and had good amenities. Shower was very large. Pool was a nice size, the landscaping around the pool and the overall ambience was amazing. Made it feel like we were still within a tropical secret location.

The hotel didn't really mention anywhere that the hotel and restaurant were joined, but were almost separate in a way. When at the pool I ordered a drink thinking I could pay / put the bill against my room, but I was told I had to settle it with the restaurant. Rather inconvenient. Also because you had to walk through the restaurant to get to the hotel entrance and also reception, the front doors were closed after 11pm. Then you had to call reception if you wanted to get in. Very annoying - I had no sim card to be able to do this, so one night I had to stay in Patong as I would have gotten back too late to get in.

Great location, 2 steps from the beach and in a quiet area of Karon Beach; very well served and only ten minutes walking to the centrum for some more movement night. Also ten minutes walking from the kata night market, great street food. Extremely clean, staff very nice and polite! You get discount on the hotel restaurant as a guest and the food is delicious! Everything is amazing and we had great time

Nothing everything was perfect!

we had an amazing time while staying here! everything was perfect. staff is friendly, welcoming and always ready to help. the room was cleaned every single day, towels were changed also every day. we loved that. It was a very nice touch when we check in, the staff turned on the AC before our arrival, it was fresh in the room when we came in. the hotel provides with shampoo, shower gel, soap, 1 bottle of water per person every day. there’s a swimming pool and restaurant on the first floor. the restaurant offers 15% discount for people who stay at the hotel. the food was good, drinks are good too. Karon beach is located in 1 minute walk from the hotel. there’re some supermarkets and souvenir shops near by. I highly recommend to stay here! 10/10

everything was perfect

We loved the staff and the location, so close to Karon Beach and shops.

The included breakfast served 8-11 am. On the first Saturday we were there, all the food was gone by 10 am and it was not refilled even after requesting more. I don’t understand guests who take everything for themselves and then waste it by leaving it untouched on their tables. It did get better for the rest of our stay but I don’t think we would pay extra again for breakfast to be included. The food was often cold and there was no made to order eggs.

First, thank you very much for so kind attitude and care about us as the guests. All the time of our stay went very smoothly. The staff was helpful in any queries raised. We were happy for one more option because the restaurant where we used for dinner is in the same building as the hotel. There were brilliant staff, too, and a super good chef. Special thanks to the kind and nice waitress Goe and others. Actually, all the restaurant`s staff was brilliant. I can strongly suggest this place for a holiday. I booked this hotel for my mother and father. They had an amazing time. The staff treated them like family. The staff are really an asset to this hotel. The hotel itself is very relaxing, great location next to the beach, shops and restaurants. There is a restaurant within the hotel and the food is delicious with reasonable prices.I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone especially for an elderly couple or family.

Nothing negative to say. Everything was perfect.

We were the only guests so had a private pool and made good use of it. Staff said it’s often quiet. 10% discount for guests at the restaurant was welcome. Rooms were clean, and cleaned daily. Staff were quick to act when we had an issue (poor air conditioning so moved next door). We were also upgraded for my birthday which was a nice surprise.

Had to move rooms because of poor air conditioning, but it was fine once we changed. Pool needed cleaning more frequently due to bugs landing in it. Only seem keen to provide 1 towel per person when you need 2 for a sunbed.
