I chose Sultan Hotel & Hostel because it seemed like the least expensive, cleanest place to stay in Sultanahmet. I looked at a lot of other places that were hotels vs hostels, and between the added cost and repeated mentions of bedbugs (I saw several mentions of them, with repeat complaints at multiple locations), I went for Sultan, which had the most consistent ratings for cleanliness. It was as clean as I'd hoped (the cleaning person came through my floor daily), and although my single room was pretty small, it was more than enough for me. The shared WC and shower room were always clean and fine. Additionally, I expected to have some noise and sleep issues while I was there (it was mentioned in multiple complaints), but maybe because I was on the third floor and in my own room, but no outside/partying noise penetrated. I am a light sleeper and slept well, with no need for earplugs.

They only have stairs, which I didn't realize upon booking. An elevator would've made everything perfect. Lugging my stuff up and down multiple flights was not fun, although they did offer to help with my luggage.

Right in centre of Sultanahmet. Breakfast same every day but if like me you want to eat before you start expolring it was fine. This is not a 5* hotel room was small but OK. Remember you get what you pay for and this is good for the price we paid.

Very helpful staff and good location. They have a bar and serve food all day. There are many other bars/restaurants near by.

what i liked the most is location. 7 minutes from Blue mosque and 7 minutes from sea side. wonderfull. all stuff guys were great. they are always in good mood and like to help you about any topic. breakfast was more than enough for one person.

from your room, you can hear voices from other bathrooms and water, also music from coffees, at night. All that is acceptable because when you turn back to your room so tired and you just want to sleep. be carefull if you choose 6 bed room, if you cant sleep when others are snoring, prepare your wallet for solo room. there is no elevator, so it could be problem for elders and luggage, bit luckly, receptioners are there to help you.

Incredibly close to the centre of Istanbul. Close to all main centre attractions and public transports. The staff are very very helpful and nice. The breakfast is ok but not impressive. All you need to start your journey. But that is ok for the full value of it.

Internet connection was very poor and the shower had no floor separation within the toilet. So all toilet floor gets wet after shower.

"Staying at Sultan Hostel in Istanbul was an absolute delight! The location couldn't be more perfect, right in the heart of the historic Sultanahmet area, within walking distance of all the major attractions. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great tips on what to see and do in the city. The hostel itself was clean, cozy, and had a wonderful atmosphere, perfect for meeting fellow travelers. I especially loved the attentive front desk staff. Overall, my experience at Sultan Hostel was fantastic, and I can't wait to come back!"

The Sultan Hostel & Guesthouses is my place every time I visit Turkey and Istanbul. The location is excellent, just 2-3 minutes walk to Hajia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. It's a very clean hostel (rooms, beds, sheets, bathrooms, etc). The staff is the best, they are very kind and helpful and make you feel you are at your home. The hostel also provides free good breakfast. I knew the hostel since 3 years and eveyone who came to the Sultan Hostel & Guesthouse had an excellent experience.

Everything was perfect, as always!

The hostel is nice and quiet, clean and with a good breakfast included every day downstairs in the cafe. I was very lucky and had a 6 bed female dorm to myself for 3 nights of my 4 night stay, with only one other person joining me for the last night. The beds were comfortable, the room clean and the bathroom was fine too. The hostel is well located in an area popular with tourists, and the Hagia Sofia and Blue mosque on a few minutes away by walking. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hostel is best for those just looking for somewhere to stay, not for meeting other travellers or partying (which suited me fine as this is what I was looking for). I would definitely stay here again and/or recommend it to others, although I think if/when I return to Istanbul I would like to stay in another, perhaps less touristy area as it is such a vast city with lots of neighbourhoods to explore. But this area is great for a first time visit.

Bed was confortable, air conditioning wasn't too noisey, having only 6 people per room meant noise levels weren't too low. Also power points by every bed was a nice touch. Bathroom in room was a nice bonus. Pillows were comfortable and bedding was warm enough when the air wasn't turned right up. Hostel cat was so friendly and staff were lovely and super helpful. Location was 5 mins from the main square and super easy to find. Free breakfast was usual european bread and meat and came with unlimited refills.

The curtains didnt really keep out much light so bring an eye mask. There wasn't enough room within the room to keep bigger bags - so had to keep bag in luggage storage in next room which wasn't locked. Didn't see a lot of security as in anyone could wander in from the street - room also only had a single key but we solved this buy getting front desk to hold the key when everyone was out. Not a lot of spaces to put things - i.e. no shelves for upper or lower bunks.

The staff are really friendly, helpful and informative. Lots of information about things to do. They're great to chat to also. Really made us feel at home, it goes a long way! I will definitely return again the next time I'm in Istanbul. It's easy to find, you can leave your luggage for free after checking out and there's also free safety deposit boxes for valuables. Excellent breakfast included in the price too! Thanks everyone ❤️

Only things I didn't like so much was that the area was a little pricier due to proximity to the Hagia Sophia and blue mosque. I would have preferred some shelves in the shower room to put clothes instead of just hooks but other than that...great facilities, warm shower, toilet works perfectly. Basically everything you need for a comfy stay! Some people might take issue with the fact it can be loud at nights but you're probably going to either be having the Aircon on which drowns out a lot of the noise, or bringing ear plugs which is obviously something a wise traveller should do anyway!

Location was fantastic. Rooms and bathroom were very clean. Bed comfy.

Sent an email prior to arrival asking for recommendations for what to see on our 1-day stay. Hotel never responded. Asked at the hotel where to find a taxi -- desk person did not want to help us get one, told us how to get on public transport instead. We were tired, it was late, we didn't want public transport - we just wanted a taxi. Desk worker said there were none in the area. We began walking -- and found several taxis just a block or two away. It would have been great if hotel worker had just said: Down these narrow streets, taxis are rare, but you can easily catch one if you walk one block to the North. That would have been WAY better.
