Excellent location, lovely setting. Convenient for dog walking along the river opposite (safe and off-road). Bedroom and bathroom extremely clean and well-presented. Amazing shower - great water pressure and a very decent hot water temperature. Evening meal was lovely but I had to have a starter and a main, the main on its own would not have filled me up. Breakfast was superb, I had the full Scottish and it really set me up for the day.

The room was a little stuffy on arrival and I opened both windows - the bathroom window was a Velux and let in a good amount of air. The bed was soft and uncomfortable - the double was actually two singles attached and the only place I could get support for my back was to lie on the join! The bar tables were sticky on the surface.

The boat inn is a beautiful characterful property in an even more beautiful location. The staff were friendly and the breakfast, which was cooked to order was delicious. For people looking to explore the local area, it is ideal as there is loads of lovely walks only a stones throw away and Glen Tanar is just a short drive by car.

We brought our two dogs with us so we were advised to upgrade to a larger room for an additional cost (which was understandable) but we also paid £15 per night per dog, which I felt was a little expensive when no bedding or bowls etc were provided for them.

The position of the Inn over looking to River Dee, we had room 5 in the main building. The evening meal was great, and the choice of Ales were brilliant. Our breakfast was amazing, Tracy had Scottish Local salmon and poached eggs, and i had the scottish breakfast, which was the tastiest i have ever had. We stayed also in Aberdeen and Edinburgh for one night each, and although they were City stays, we so much preferred the smaller and the beautiful setting and surroundings that the Boat Inn offered. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful, making our stay just brilliant. I am going to book for 3 nights next year, where we will use as our base for day trips around the surrounding attractions.

The food was delicious & well presented with large portions. Never felt Hungary after eating a meal kept me full all day. The scones were absolutely fabulous & made my trip even more worthwhile… The room was a little on the dark side with not much daylight getting in but that wasn’t a problem as the cleanliness was 100% & facility’s were great. The room was big & spacious no complaints at all. The staff were absolutely incredible, so friendly & helpful & I will definatly be back to stay at this wonderful hotel.

Staff were fabulous. Our party was badly delayed on our trip to Aboyne and arrived after midnight. The hotel had called earlier to see how we were doing and to make arrangements for us to check in (very) late. A staff member was on site to greet us and settle us in on arrival - he couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfasts with good range of choices and very well cooked. Didn't get the chance to try dinner but would definitely do so on another visit. Room was excellent; spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed and excellent shower. Lots of windows made for a bright, airy space, Good quality fittings and furniture and good lighting; clearly had some worthwhile attention paid to design and decor. Also pleasantly quiet and peaceful for a good night's sleep. Between the Boathouse and main building log-ins, the free wifi coverage seemed to be very even; didn't notice any dead spots. Good to see lots of little touches to improve the eco-friendliness of the business. Only issues for me were the current design trend of having a bath in the bedroom - I'll never understand that one but it seems to be a "thing" with some designers - and the lack of a desk. Fortunately, I didn't need to do any work in the room on this trip but, normally, I'd definitely have got more use out of a desk than a bath in the room. Other than that, a very comfortable room and enjoyable stay.

One very minor thing - free wifi could be quicker but was fine for email and reading the news. (Don't know about any paid wifi - if it had been important I'd have asked.)

Booked this room for a parent with health & mobility issues, while they were up here visiting. We requested a ground floor room with walk- in shower which would be most accessible. Staff went above & beyond, providing a shower chair and helping with our requests. The food was good, including breakfast. The room was large and nicely decorated - it felt high end and like a treat to stay there.

Nothing, everything was great.

Nice modern pub/restaurant on the River Dee with good atmosphere, decent food and attentive staff. We were in the boathouse which is a separate modern building behind the original inn. Parking not a problem either in the car park or on the quiet street in front. Breakfast excellent.

Our room in the boathouse had a large double bed (2 single mattresses together) but this made it difficult to move around the room as it was really too small for that. Also, the soundproofing wasn't great, meaning we were woken up by people coming back late or talking or clattering about early in the morning.

The location was good. The room was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. Shower room was good except the highly polished tiles which were a bit on the slippy side. It’s a nice idea to have a balcony, but it wasn’t something we could use as it didn’t feel very private.

Parking as it’s a small car park and people eating meals were also obviously using the car park. We had a lovely evening meal, but at breakfast the next morning we asked again for crispy bacon and it wasn’t and the scrambled eggs were hard and dry and the mushrooms were cold. We could also hear people upstairs and in the next room. Fortunately they didn’t make noise while we were trying to sleep. Disappointing for the cost.

The room was large and very clean when we arrived. The bed was so comfortable and we had a great sleep. The staff were super friendly and there were enough for the service to be attentive. The restaurant was busy but the food and service was excellent.

The basin in the ensure bathroom was an odd size which made it difficult to use when having a shave. Having said that the bathroom shape didn't lend itself for a bigger basin.

Breakfast on the first morning was the best that we have ever had. Food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Dinner was fantastic, it was so good that we ate there both evenings. Rooms very very comfortable, they were very well presented.

Breakfast on the second morning was not as good, the staff were very friendly although they appeared a little under pressure.
