All the staff were very welcoming and friendly - it made for a relaxing atmosphere. We had our dog with us and it was one of the most dog friendly hotels we have been to. The main restaurant area was dog free but dogs were welcomed in the bar and also loft dining area - so everyone was catered for. We had a twin room with plenty space for the dog bed and a fabulous walk in shower. The food was excellent. Aboyne has beautiful walks very close by - walking from the hotel - and further afield by car.
I believe that one or two of the rooms would be a bit small for a labrador but that is stated on the website. We chose a twin because it was the biggest available at that time.

Rooms were good with a good choice of breakfast options. Food was good but more upmarket than the advertised "Pub Grub" by the Boat Inn meaning it was more expensive than pub grub prices. being dog friendly did not present any problems for guests with no animals. Room cleanliness was good with the exception of the ensuite fan extract vent which did not appear to have been cleaned for some time. Towels were of good quality and beds were comfortable.
Ensuite cleanliness could be improved (Extract Vent as above) Breakfast was made to order which was fine items (toast / butter jam) had to be requested and were not supplied automatically.

The room was in an annexe to the rear of the pub, large and had a balcony. There was a wonderful large bath in the bedroom, very classy. The bathroom had a double shower. There was always plenty of really hot water. The breakfast menu was varied although for most of the choices other than Scottish breakfast you paid extra. The quality of the ingredients for the Scottish breakfast was excellent and the bacon was extremely tasty. The lunch/dinner menu was limited but again ingredients were excellent and very well cooked. The bed was oversized and extremely comfortable. The bar was in a separate room to the dining area which was good because you could just have a drink and talk.
I really enjoyed my stay so nothing.

We booked at the last minute, unsure of what to expect. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and kindness. Our room was spotless, the beds were cozy and comfortable. We were late getting there but they seated us for dinner (which was amazing) then fed us breakfast the next morning (also amazing). If you are on the fence about booking, please do not hesitate any further! It was definitely one of our favorites during our 12 day stay in Scotland.
Nothing, everything was awesome

We had one of the smaller rooms but it did not lack in comfort - the bed was huge and super comfy, the shower was great too. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful and our dog 🐶 was made to feel very welcome. In our room there was a bowl of biscuits for him, a towel, poo bags and plastic mat for his bowl. Our dog's cage was placed under the room window, and the three of us had a comfy night with the windows open listening to the birds in the nearby trees. Dinner was good and very busy (always book a table), a bowl of water for our pooch and, lovely cocktails 🍸on the menu - a nice treat to have one! Breakfast was superb, a great range to choose from, and again, served by friendly, helpful staff. Excellent walks locally, particularly right opposite along the Dee, and further up the road to an open park. The Boat Inn excels in location, breakfast and staff - they're the best. This is a perfect example of a dog friendly destination 🐾🙌🐶🙌🐾

The Boat Inn is superb. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the service is top-notch. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-appointed, offering a comfortable and relaxing environment. The hotel is in a perfect location in Aboyne, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay.
It's only a small thing and really just a personal preference, but there are way too many children in the restaurant at night, which is not ideal for someone looking for a quiet corner to enjoy dinner.

Staff were warm and welcoming. Well looked after. Food great. Room fantastic. We enjoyed our stay so much. Being a bit disabled i appreciated being on the ground floor. Was disappointed that the guest upstairs from us decided we were chatting to loud in our room and started to banging very loudly on the ceiling above us with her feet. We were not being loud and the TV was turned down. It was a shame as i was so annoyed by their behaviour i didnt sleep. The hotel was fabulous though.
The hotel was brilliant. There was absolutely nothing to not like. The features in the room were lovely. The bed was mahusive and comfy. The fireplace in the bar was so cosy. Breakfast was superb. Staff were 100 percent the best.

Nice interior design, cosy sort of feel. The room was clean, good location, good atmosphere, lovely bar staff at night. Nice breakfast and drinks. We liked the fireplaces. Overall, I think it is well priced.
Double bed was actually two singles pushed together, which for those that like to snuggle may find themselves getting lost in a crevice. Random green light above the door kept a very bright ambience in a room, for people that need full dark to sleep will be a struggle. Room is not sound proof, we could hear people downstairs pretty well. Lack of variation of meals in a restaurant.

Stunning relaxing Location, super welcoming and wonderful staff. Food was excellent, breakfast was superb. Locals also incredibly friendly and love dogs. Nothing to much trouble for the team. Thank you for an amazing stay. Love Jill, Lyall & Bear
Only one thing. Noise from room above. We stayed in room 1 - dog friendly, very spacious and bed fab. The room above seemed like they were wearing clogs and kept us awake. Perhaps rugs or carpet would help.

Excellent, spacious room. Lovely breakfast selection, staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was very good.
The fixed dinner menu in the restaurant was limited (we stayed 3 nights) and could do with a daily 'special' for variety. We ate out one night as we didn't fancy anything else on fixed menu. The seating/table arrangement in the public bar wasn't great. Uncomfortable seats and poorly arranged tables. But the beer was great.
