The accommodation was very clean, the bed was comfy and the shower great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast wasn't included which was reflected in the cost. But there were a number of cafes close by that did delicious breakfasts. Our favourite was the altitude cafe which was above the climbing wall just next door to Ferndale Lodge. The private car park was small, but we were given a car park pass to use in the public car park right next to Ferndale Lodge. We also were able to use this pass in other surrounding villages.

The location is absolutely perfect; a stones throw from the shops, pubs and restaurants. We stayed in a pet friendly room with a private bathroom and it was very clean and comfortable. The heating system is very good so we were lovely and cosy - the weather was mostly fine during our stay but after a rainy walk or as the nights become more chilly, this will be a god send! Rob, the owner was brilliant with great communication.

There wasn’t much to dislike, to be honest! Parking is a little tight depending on how many people are staying but even when we had difficulty, Rob helped us out and resolved the issue very quickly!

The location was great, easy walking distance from everything in Ambleside. The house was very clean and quiet. We hardly saw other guests. Rosa, who checked us in, was helpful and informative. We arrived later than planned because of heavy traffic/accident on the M6, and she was very understanding. We knew that the room was small, it's why it was under £100 a night in peak season, but it was well-designed with a surprising amount of storage space. The bathroom was tiny but spotlessly clean.

The car park is small and it's impossible to park without blocking in other vehicles or being blocked in yourself. So you need to be able to coordinate with other guests to ensure you don't get stuck.

Rob was exstreamly friendly and very helpful. We were able to park at the back of the venue and get our room key early so we cold enjoy a full day at Ambleside even though check in was not until 2 Rob made it so we were not waisting time waiting to check in so that was a bonus. very relaxed atmosphere the room was a nice spacious size and lovely and clean we had our own access to extra tea coffee and milk etc and even access to cutlery if we bought food back to the room. All information regarding the area and the venue were available on a well placed notice board and Rob and other staff were on call if needed. Rob also gave us ideas of what to do in Ambleside as it was our first time visiting. Very relaxing break

Ferndale Lodge was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The room was nice and peaceful too. Excellent en-suite bathroom with brilliant shower. It seems that Rob, the owner, had thought of everything, from decent sized kettle, mugs, glasses and spoons to tea towel and hairdryer. There was a generous offering of drinks available in the room and Rob showed us where to help ourselves to more if needed. He even offered us plates if we needed them for sandwiches, as it was room only. Rob was so hospitable and friendly and the room was excellent value for money. There was also car parking free of charge to the rear. We would definitely stay at Ferndale Lodge again in the future and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

Nothing whatsoever, it was perfect.

Pet friendly self contained unit at the back of main hotel with own front door. Very clean and comfortable. Requested a fridge in the room which was accomodated. Great shower with lovely hot water. Great communication prior to my stay with free parking at the rear of the hotel. Few minutes walk into the town centre.

Pets not allowed in main hotel but this wasn't a massive issue as mostly out. As a solo traveller I didn't get much chance to meet and chat to other guests. I did feel it was a little on the expensive side as no breakfast included.

No breakfast available at this lodge, which was stated when booking. A excellent location with free parking, we were met on arrival by a very friendly owner and everything was easy and hassle free through our stay. Only a 100yds from the vibrant town centre which was excellent also.

No shower gel was a little frustrating, (as it's usually available) Also it stated a "mountain view" however, the window was over 5 feet high, which made viewing very, very limited and disappointing.

was super clean, host was lovely, plates and cutlery for takeaways, shower was very powerful, clean and comfortable beds, couldn’t hear anything from other guests or outside, tv worked perfectly aswell, unlimited tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Will definitely be back at some point, we wanted to stay longer.

there was nothing to dislike everything was perfect, had a key for both front door and room door, the car park was perfect aswell i never had any issues with the car park.

Ferndale Lodge was the perfect base for exploring the Lakes. You're a short walk from the town with a good choice of restaurants and pubs. Rob was a wonderful host, greeted us on arrival, was friendly and helpful and assisted with parking (which is free). We stayed there so we could do the Langdale Half Marathon and it was ideal. Would definitely book again.

Location was amazing

We got a pet friendly room but decided not to take our pooch! I’m very glad we didn’t as I definitely wouldn’t have called it pet friendly.. there’s steps at the back door and it’s straight onto a private car park which then leads on to public parking! Room was very small too.. We had to leave our blind down throughout our stay as it felt like we were in a gold fish bowl !
