Our superior room was stunning. (first room at the top of the stairs - forget the name.) It had some fantastic wallpaper. Amazing large bathroom, large walk in shower and free standing bath. Large balcony overlooking the gardens. £5 option to have breakfast on the balcony table. Hotel happy to organise flowers for arrival. 6 x 22kW (11kW usable in my EV) 3-phase EV chargers. Reasonable £0.40/kWh charge. Food in the restaurant was excellent and very foodie - you wouldn't however want to eat there more than once though as there is limited options/limited set menu and it's £65+ per head for min 3 courses. The cheese trolly was special. Very clean and comfy king size bed.

Road noise when on the balcony and outside in the gardens. Thankfully you cannot hear when inside/sleeping. The hotel is situated in a very busy island surrounded by roads left, front and right. These roads can can very very busy in peak times. Felt like the decor/furniture in the restaurant could be cosier or more intimate.

The quality of the accommodation the proximity to Ambleside and the lake without being in the centre of the village . The carpark was newly made and access very easy in and out . Very helpful and friendly staff liked the mini fridge and fresh milk

Would have liked the precooked breakfast options being buffet style eg the fruit juices fresh fruit . Breakfast though overall was very good . Would have liked a paper brochure with instructions of how the hotel functions eg time front door locked

The breakfast was out of this world!! Lovely fresh bread, amazing freshly prepared fruit and yoghurt... Cooked options were also fantastic. I had avocado and salmon on sourdough with cream cheese, it was PERFECT. We had a hot tub in our suite which we used a couple of times. Proper branded jacuzzi.

Shampoo and conditioner quality wasn't great. Our room was right next to the road, so it was not quite as tranquil a setting as the pictures suggested. Road was well screened by foliage though, so we didn't feel overlooked.

The interior design is beautiful and the garden terrace is lovely. We loved the room in the new pavillon, absolutely beautiful and comfortable! 10 out 10. The receptionists are welcoming, convenient and very friendly. The location is perfect near the river, the lake and Ambleside city center. The breakfast was really good and we loved the personal touches.

We were a bit disappointed about the fine dinning experience. The atmosphere is not very intimate and the staff isn’t really friendly in comparison with the lovely receptionists. For example, a waitress brought us a lovely plate for our anniversary but we haven’t seen anybody after that. We waited around 20mins but nobody showed up so we left and went straight to our room which was very strange. The food and wine were good especially the starters and deserts. Unfortunately, the lobster and the porc were too dry and a bit blunt. The 1st room was nice but lots of spiders in every corner and we found a dirty bath robe. Unfortunately, no cold water in the shower which was a shame with the hot weather. We were very happy to change the room because the 2nd one was amazing in every aspect.

Food was exceptional and staff were great. Ambleside is a lovely location and this hotel makes the most of it.

Our room was out the back and there were a number of loud deliveries and bins being emptied. No aircon so was hot but he staff did provide a fan with no trouble. Unseasonal weather so wouldn’t expect this to be a problem ordinarily!

Lovely building close to the lake, with classic, while comfortable decor, a large bed, and a lovely bathroom with a separate shower and a bath. A special mention goes to the breakfast - superb choice and quality! As well as was our dinner, delicious and stylish. Great service, and attention to detail.

Very noisy floors (as much as I appreciate the age of the building). The bathroom floor gets very wet after a shower. Pretty close to a busy road, though very quiet at night.

The breakfast was amazing, they also looked after the dogs with a blanket and their own breakfast. The staff were very good and friendly nothing was too much trouble, and every member of staff was super friendly

We liked it all but if I was to be super critical maybe some light music in the lounge to give it some atmosphere but that's my personal preference .

this hotel was simply stunning! the owners have taken enormous care and pride in decorating it and it shows. the staff were lovely as well providing us with plenty of tips on walks to do and taking great care of us. A truly memorable stay for all the right reasons. can’t wait to be able to return again one day. 😍

not a single thing. although having a few scrubbing tools in the boot room would have been handy.

The decor of the hotel is beautiful - each room so elegantly decorated, we loved sneaking a peek of the other rooms! The breakfast and evening meal were really great

The staff overall were accommodating but a few situations member let the experience down. When asked if there were newspapers available (not a daft question for an expensive hotel) we were told that the papers could be viewed online or go to the shop (it was for our 90 year old relative). At breakfast on our first morning the waiter was huffing and stormed off after half of the table ordered, without an explanation, and only took the second half of the order once they all had their food...very odd!!!

The hotel was beautiful and decorated to a very high standard. It's location was perfect and a 5 minute walk into Ambleside. We didn't eat in the hotel but the breakfast was amazing, one of the nicest breakfasts we have had on our trip. Our room was lovely and had everything we wanted. Would definitely recommend staying at Rothay Manor.
