Meg and John made us so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They are a young couple with a gorgeous baby and a beautiful well trained dog. They work so hard to make your stay a good one. Room was spacious and spotlessly clean and there were loads of sockets for all the chargers etc we all carry these days. Lots of choice for breakfast and it was delicious. Location is excellent, within walking distance of everything in Ambleside. We definitely want to go back when we can. Thanks guys, you are doing a great job 😁

Very hard to fault it

Location central. Parking nearby free with ticket voucher from compston house. Room modern clean and tidy. Bed was really comfortable. Shower was modern and plenty of hot water. Meg and John were lovely. Mia the dog was gentle quiet and friendly. I heard their son Josh chattering in the back ground in the mornings and he sounded lovely . Meg and John were very helpful when we were looking for the cathedral caves. The breakfast was brilliant so much choice. Hot and local products. Delicious. Best b n b in Ambleside by far.

Cannot fault! Location was excellent with free parking a 2 minute walk away. The B&B itself was beautifully presented and our room at the top of the house was stunning. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was so powerful I could have stayed under it for hours! Breakfast was lovely and a large choice. Hosts were lovely and made the whole stay so enjoyable. We will definetly be back. Oh, and the resturants around the B&B were amazing. Such a varied choice and all with in a 10 minute walk!

Absolutely nothing!

My wife and I went to Ambleside in September for her 40th birthday trip. It was both our first time in the Lake District. We stayed at the Compston House B&B in their Lavender Quartz Double room. The room was very clean and modern with a nice pod type coffee machine and an in-shower Bluetooth speaker. Very nice. It was the perfect place to stay in Ambleside due to its accessibility to the town area, the car park, the bus stop for the bus tours that took us and down the Lakes. The business has a permit system for free parking either on street or certain car parks in the area.The owners Jon and Megan were very friendly. They served the loveliest breakfast too. We had a fantastic time and we will surely be back. Thank you! 🙂

Amazing, central Ambleside location. Really lovely, friendly & kind hosts/owners. Amazing breakfast. Free parking all week and a permit that also worked elsewhere so we were able to use this in Windermere too...this saves a lot of money. Tea/coffee/milk/biscuits all replenished each day in room along with fresh towels.

Rooms are very small so suitcase had to go back in the car!! Although it was clean, it could have been a little cleaner to move an 8 out of 10 to a 10.

Room was really nicely decorated and arranged. Bed was very comfortable. John and Meg made us feel very welcome and helped us with the bags. Breakfast was excellent for our wide range of needs, vegan, vegetarians, no eggs. Blueberry pancakes were to die for. Great tips for where to eat in town. Will definitely come back when we are in the Lake District again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Compston House. John and Meg were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble, especially when my husband fell ill. The breakfasts were delicious with so many options available. Our room was quiet, comfortable, had everything we needed along with some beautiful views.

Compston House is a beautifully run B&B in a prime location in Ambleside. The owners are just lovely. So welcoming. They are the perfect hosts. The rooms are immaculate and modern with everything you expect and need. The breakfast is wonderfully cooked with great variety. It's my favourite B&B in the whole of the Lake District and I've spent decades staying and walking around in the Lakes.

We had the most wonderful stay - truly cannot fault it. The hosts are such genuine friendly people who made our stay so comfortable and had great tips on places to visit. The breakfast was superb!!! Better than anything you’d get in a cafe and the service was brilliant. I wish we could have stayed for longer. Would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone, and I can’t wait to visit again soon!

Owners are so welcoming and friendly. Felt a good vibe as soon as we walked in. They still have 2 rooms to renovate of which we stayed in one, so a little outdated, but still very clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast selects are really good, so it was a full English for the husband and pancakes and fruit for me, both superb. Location is smack bang in the middle of Ambleside and with free parking.
