Friendly staff, easy check-in, comfy room with a good sized bathroom and coffee / tea facilities. Location was great for our purpose, plenty of parking and a great self-service breakfast available in the morning.

This is an old building, but is well-kept, however on our particular visit the hot water in the bathroom was not working, it didn't impact us too greatly as we literally stayed the night (attending a friend's birthday party) but we got the impression had we mentioned it, the staff would have tried to address it. The Bar also closed quite early compared to a mainstream hotel but this is a small niggle for what was a very comfortable experience and if we were visiting in this area again, Hook House would probably be a first port of call.

lovely hotel with amazing owners who looked after us like family. Breakfast was superb, we even invited our family up to enjoy breakfast with us one morning in the grand dining room. Lovely pieces of art to enjoy by the owner around the property. Great gardens and relaxing seating area. We loved the food in the hotel and the pizzas, salad and garlic breads were beyond expectation. The only downside for us was that the rooms are dated, but the service and food over compensated for this. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

rooms a little dated, but very clean and functional so not a complaint.

Very lovely country hotel in a very convenient location just off M3. The owners were very helpful, the room was perfect size and the bathroom was well stocked and very clean. The weather during my stay was very hot, and, like all period country houses, the hotel has no air conditioning, but the temperature in the room was tolerable. Traditional full English breakfast served, free parking outside.

Three hornets came late at night into the open window of my room when the lights were on - they squeezed underneath the curtain (my room was on the top floor, so I presume a hornet nest could be nearby).

I loved the little, cosy room, supplied with everything I needed for a short stay. Breakfast was just right! But what always makes a place for me are the people. Such a lovely warm welcome, kind staff and fascinating takes to tell. The gallery idea was amazing and Moira is a superb artist! I'll be back...

It's sad for such a gorgeous hotel that it's now surrounded by housing estates and Sainsbury's. But that's not a criticism, just a comment. I barely noticed the noise of traffic in the room.

The owners were attentive and changed our room to one that was more accessible. They ensured we were fed on the first night using their pizza oven and the setting was great within its relatively large grounds. Gluten-free options were available and good quality.

Clearer instructions about how the breakfast worked would have been appreciated as we were a little lost until the owner reappeared to explain. Our room was outside the main hotel building and a bit more light for the steps would have been helpful as would a walk-in shower rather than an over-the-bath one.

It is a lovely house in beautiful grounds. My arrival was delayed due to unforeseen problems but Katy was helpful and accommodating even though I arrived after 9pm. The room was comfortable and met my needs. The breakfast room was open and airy overlooking the grounds and although in the buffet style and not freshly cooked, the cooked breakfast was fine and my gluten free needs were catered for.

I think the decor in some parts of the house (not the main rooms) needs attention but overall this wasn't important to my stay and if I needed to stay near Hook again I would be happy to choose Hook House

The old charm. Everything these days is so modernised, this charming house is very special, with its history dating back to 1684 (think that was the date). There is a very faint hint of a South African them, for myself gave me a very welcoming feeling. Breakfast was good and variety was sufficient, considering this was included in the price. Definitely would return for a stay.

One and only criticism I could give was not great when showing. However this maybe due to a lack of water pressure.

The house is gorgeous, it’s tucked away which was nice but very easy to get to and looks so grand upon entry. Plenty of parking spaces and the lovely lady who greeted us was just fab, there was no faffing and we got straight to our room. The room was super sweet and had a lovely antique feeling to it with the furniture (in a good way), it had a nice view and most of all was very clean which is really important to me. The room was small but we didn’t need it any bigger and it had everything we needed and the bed was so comfy, we had a great nights sleep. They had mentioned they serve artisan pizza in the evening which sounded very appealing and my goodness it was delicious, we sat outside looking out onto the garden which felt very serene hearing the birds tweeting away at golden hour. The only thing I would say is perhaps a couple of heaters wouldn’t go a miss outside when it’s a little chillier but other than that, fab! The breakfast in the morning was just as good, a buffet breakfast which was still hot and I actually quite liked that there was no pressure of a limited menu to choose from. Maybe a couple of pastries in the continental would be nice but I’ve just got a sweet tooth! The people working their seemed very approachable and friendly and really relaxed environment. We visited the Leather Bottle pub about 10 minutes up the road for a drink before dinner and also to the White Lion Antiques shop in Hartley Wintney which is amazing if you love second hand and vintage. Overall a really nice stay, definitely worth the money and we would 100% recommend it to anyone staying in or near Hook. Thank you so much!

Heaters outside and a few pastries for breakfast wouldn’t go a miss, but absolutely not deal breakers.

Very helpful and welcoming host. Went out of her way to make sure we had what we asked for. Spacious comfortable room with nicely finished bathroom. Good WiFi, Private parking right outside the front door. Buffet style hot breakfast and choice of cereals, juice, toast with preserves, all served in a lovely room overlooking the extensive grounds. Breakfast until 9.30 a.m. was a bonus as was a check out upto 11.00 a.m.

A few small things, i.e. low pressure hot water in the bathroom. The tea and coffee at breakfast was in heated canisters, which meant they were not really fresh tasting. The hot breakfast was also held in heated dishes. The bacon became very tough although the scrambled egg, sausage and hash browns were fine.

This is a gem. A proper hotel built in the heyday of Georgian Building, excellently proportioned and appointed. The rooms are superb and comfortable with good views across the countryside. Nothing is modern here, nor neon-lit, just old-fashioned comfort in a traditional setting. The cooked breakfast buffet gives a wonderful start to the day, and the staff could not be more pleasant. There are not many hotels that I actually like, but this is high on the list of those I’d like to revisit.
