Great staff and facilities. Lovely walks in the grounds
I wish there was the option to book breakfast if you didn’t book it with the room as I don’t always know if I want a big breakfast until the evening.

Lovely old house and grounds, enjoyed the spiral staircase. My dog enjoyed the cat!
I had a dog with me so not sure if the room was a usual room, although appreciate someone has to sleep in it. also I was on my own so wondering if the room was this room due to these 2 points/ View of a roof right infront of the window. Also a weird noise started around 8 or 9, i cant remember now but it went of for about 15 -20 mins that if it was longer would have enquired. i was timing it, happened every 1/5 minutes for 12 ish seconds, like an engine starting up. I am noise aware so it caught my attention but anyone would have heard it as it was a clear noise. I have left the above request re noise free as although there was a noise for a short time, it didn't take away from the overall stay.

Very comfortable bed. Snug, cosy room. Friendly welcome. Wildlife seen when walking in the grounds. Historic ambience of the public areas in the main house, although I did not stay there -- including the classically inspired staircase spiralling upwards around a central space with no visible means of support. Smoking, including vaping, is not allowed indoors. The bells of the historic St Michael's Church right next to the hotel make a lovely sound on Sunday morning on the two Sundays a month when a service is held there (but check beforehand).
Every time the TV was turned on it lost the TV channel and the sound reverted to a level that might disturb other guests. The soundproofing in the annexe where my room was was poor. Toilet took some force to flush. Carpets in the corridors in the annexe were starting to look tired. The fragranced room spray that seemed to have been used in those corridors on the morning I departed was unwelcome. I would have appreciated a "card key drop" for people who wish to check out quickly, having paid in advance.

Very nice place, with a big park to walk around and relax after a long day. I was expecting more from the restaurant, the dishes were good but the location was a little cold (just a big empty room). Breakfast was a buffet, not bad but not particularly full of options. The best feature was Tinkerbell, the hotel's cat, who was really nice and cuddly!
The rooms are a little outdated, especially the bathrooms, which at a first glance could seem not perfectly clean, but then you notice they're just worn out and ruined due to the passing of time. I would spend a little bit to upgrade them and then the hotel would be perfect.

I was expecting a small room, because the size is clearly stated when you book, and it was indeed very small. It was basically just large enough for a double bed, with about a foot's space around it. But for one or two nights, it was perfectly fine, thanks to hooks on the doors, a nice big cupboard and other design tricks to make the most of the space. The breakfast buffet was great, and the dining room mercifully quiet in the morning, with no blaring music. Comfortable bed, with lovely bed linen.
The walls are quite thin, so you have to hope for quiet neighbours. The coffee at breakfast was barely drinkable.

A fantastic place to stay. The hotel is located in beautiful countryside, and has extensive gardens/grounds that you can walk around. Every member of staff I came across was friendly and helpful, and my room was very clean. Despite visiting on one of the hottest days of the year, I found my room (ground floor in Fir Court) to be a very comfortable temperature, especially with the fan provided in the cupboard. The breakfast was excellent, and I was able to sit outside under a canopy to eat whilst enjoying the views. I am amazed at how inexpensive my stay was - it was exceptional value for money.
I can’t think of anything really!

Absolutely stunning location, the grounds the hotel is set in are wonderful. The reception staff are nice, friendly and helpful as well as the bar staff too. Our room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable too. A general all round nice hotel to stay in and relax in the evening too.
Just a couple of things really, the T.V reception is poor so if you want to watch a bit of telly you've only got one or two channels that are clear, so bring an ipad etc... and our window only opened about 2 inches. I know why it was done, so no one can fall out the window, but maybe put a bar or something there so can open it wider for some fresh air.

We stayed in Room 5 in the main building, and it was beautiful. The views across the countryside were spectacular, and it was so quiet. Unfortunately, we had to leave before breakfast, so we can't comment on the food. The staff were very professional, helpful, and friendly during booking, arrival, and departure. Would definitely stay again.
If there was anything to criticise, it would be the lack of easy access plugs in the room. But understand it's a very old building which may make fitting extra plugs difficult.

The property is located in idyllic settings- in a stately home, with well laid gardens, and some excellent buildings reminiscent of cloisters. Check-in was smooth. There're lots of free space (complete with rabbits and deer), the property is dog friendly. The grounds are superb! We ought to have booked a larger room, the "small double" felt a bit too small for a double, one couldn't swing a cat. Apart from that, everything was brilliant. There're some villages and pubs nearby. Hook's just some 10 minutes drive away. There's a lot of parking spaces, unfortunately, we arrived in the middle of a wedding, so we had to play musical chairs with parking spaces. The cleaning staff and the breakfast staff are simply brilliant, the breakfast scored 10/10! One of the reception staff was simply superb!!!!
The fir tree court "small double" really ought to be a single room- but the fault is mine for not properly checking the size of the room. For our sins, our visit coincided with a wedding and one wishes that some of those wedding guests could have been a bit more considerate of others; laughing and chatting loudly in the corridors or just outside the windows after midnight may not be appreciated by everyone.

Very friendly staff.. informing days prior to my stay that if i had noise problem with a wedding g then to report and they would move me . I had no such problem music was directly below my opened room window and was more than bearable. . Excellent night's sleep and really enjoyed the grounds with my dogs
There's nothing to dislike . Room was more than worth the money , I did worry about the spiral staircase with my dogs . But they Took it in their stride. Everyday is a learning day for them
