The front desk staff was what made the most impression. A very friendly exuberant young fellow. He was always will to engage, offering suggestions, and helpful with any questions I had. The room was comfy and clean.
Having just landed in England a few days prior, I wasn't familiar with the bar/restaurant process. I ordered a glass of wine at the bar, sat down, waited and waited for my wine, sitting with my back turned to the bar, so unable to see the bar or bartender. After a while I went up and he said it was sitting there the whole time for me to pick it up. I politely said I hadn't known that, it would have been nice to be told. The reply was along the lines that that's how it was done everywhere in the UK. I felt belittled but explained I had just arrived in the UK and would take note for the future. Not a great way to treat a solo traveller. Maybe the bartender was having a bad night or things were not going well for him.

The staff was extremely friendly. Everything was good. I had some parcels sent to me and the staff remembered straight away without me asking that I had stuff in the back room waiting.
We were going on a Jane Austen bus-tour, leaving from the Jane Austen centre at 8:00. It turned out that we could not get our breakfast, because they do not serve breakfast till 8:00 on Sundays. We had not realised this. Admittedly, we had not looked into it. I guess we just assumed it would be the same time as the previous days. There was a large group travelling together who were allowed in to have breakfast at 7:00. We asked if the two of us might not grab some of the cold (not the cooked) food on the buffet and to eat in the bar, but we were not allowed to. I must admit that I snuck in and filled a bowl of oatmeal and took a glass of juice. I could not walk across town and go a full day tour on an empty stomach. I had paid for breakfast every day.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bedroom was nicely decorated, the beds were comfy and the facilities provided were good such as the tea/coffee tray, good quality hangers, a fan, nice toiletries. We were able to book parking in advance and when we were unsure whether we had parked in the correct bay or not, the receptionist came out to the car park to help, which was very useful considering we had got it wrong. We were quickly able to move our car to a correct bay and hopefully avoid a fine for parking incorrectly initially. The breakfast was scrumptious, with a great choice of very good quality hot and cold options. The breakfast staff provided a great service, very professional and friendly. The hotel is opposite the railway station. Next time we hope to get the train as long as there are no train strikes.
The bathroom was a bit dated. The shower had no hand held shower head and the step down from it was a bit dangerous with wet feet. There was only one shower cap, which my sister and I had to share. The secondary glazing / sash windows were difficult to get to and open.

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome and taking the time to chat to us on arrival and departure. Although the rooms are a little dated, they were very clean and well stocked with toiletries and tea / coffee. The location is very central, right opposite Bath Spa train station and a 5 minute walk from the shopping centre. Our twin room was large and had plenty of space for two people, with comfortable beds. All round an excellent stay that we would happily repeat again!
The only small downside was the lack of nearby affordable parking - no fault of the hotel and to be expected given that Bath is a busy city centre! The hotel car park was full upon booking, and being a bank holiday, the local car parks and surrounding roads were all occupied. You can park easily at the Southgate shopping mall a few minutes walk away, which is a little pricey but convenient if travelling with luggage.

It was clean, well decorated, TV, USB, En-siute, comfy double bed of a good size.
It's easy to be critical of any thing these days, I couldn't really find any fault but if I had to mention anything, a few creaky floor boards however the hotel is over 150 years old.

The location was exceptional. The check in staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and had what we needed. A little light on coffee supplies and water. I would stay here again and eat elsewhere.
The restaurant staff was abysmal. He acted like it was a chore we were there. The drinks were terrible! Very watered down or little to no alcohol at all. The food was fair. I don't know that I would dine there again. We had the rest of our meals elsewhere.

Excellent location right opposite the train station and central to all attractions. Hotel beautiful and clean, staff were amazing, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay here again travelled for pleasure with my 2 sisters.
If I had to say anything negative it would be that the view from our window wasn’t the best we were located at the back of the hotel I think, our room only had one window besides the bathroom, which looked out onto a tiny courtyard type space, however it made no difference to our stay. We were in room 112.

The hotel is centrally located in town, close to the train station. Lots of restaurants directly across the street. Ken at the front desk was very helpful. The rooms are a good size with older traditional décor. The parking is directly on the side of the building great for easily unloading luggage. The breakfast was excellent, both a sit-down menu and a buffet included.
No air conditioning, it can be quite hot!

Location was briallant. Staff are very accommodating. We had a leak in the bathroom they were very quick to move us to another room within half an hour. Lovely gesture biscuits tea coffee and water in our room. Bed was very comfortable.
Rooms get very warm but there is a fan provided which wasn't long cooling down the room. Limited parking but you know that when you book the hotel. There is a car park within minutes of the hotel. You can leave the car there as long as you need. Everything else was perfect!

it’s located very centralized location and near to Southgate shopping center. Near to most of the Roman bath and Bath Abbey church. it’s an refurbished building but with very good service of staff. we love the morning breakfast which gave choices of streak and smoke salmon which is rare.
Not a lot of choice for family of 4. so we have to split the room. else everything is well worth it. Another thing is it doesn’t have hotel parking facilities but would recommend to park overnight at Southgate SS or Manvers street Park for public which 8am to next day 8am is only £1.50!
