Very friendly and obliging staff. Quiet room and pleasant communal areas with a pleasant ambience. Lovely sunny aspect overlooking gardens and outdoor facilities. Ample parking. Some aspects of breakfast were good, eg. Fresh smoothie, and granola and yoghurt pots. Also nice to have the DIY toaster.

The quality of the cooked breakfast left a lot to be desired. The mushrooms and hash browns were pretty awful, as was the vegetarian sausage. However, the poached egg was cooked well. It would have been nice to have a bigger prepared fresh fruit selection. Better quality ingredients make for a better breakfast and happier customers!

We booked a suite the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. So spacious with a beautiful balcony. The second time we booked a simple double room. It was much smaller with no balcony and only a double bed. For the price I wished we'd have booked the suite again. The decor in both rooms was stunning. Both beds, even the smaller double, were very comfortable and provided a great night of rest. We were shocked upon check out the first night to hear the hotels days were limited and it was closing its doors in the fall. Such a waste of a beautiful building.

Though understandable, the outside lights, especially over the balcony suite, were covered with webs and dead bugs. Would expect a hotel as prestigious as such would definitely take note of their outdoor appearance, if not only over the balcony.

The family room we stayed in was better than expected, it was really big with a view of the pool. It was clean and the sofa bed had been made up for us. The staff were so friendly and helpful from the second we arrived to when we checked out. They really can't do enough for you. Its sad to know this place is closing later in the year as we've found a little gem. After a busy few weeks at work and school we wanted a family break where we parked up and enjoyed the pool, facilities and weather and we did just that. I read a couple of reviews (lamps hanging off or not working) as this was a late booking and was a little concerned that the place might not be well kept but it certainly was and I didn't notice anything broken or not working and the staff were all lovely. I noticed a slab that had suddenly lifted on the way down to the pool (it wasn't like it in the morning and it was a trip hazard), I reported this to the Manager and within half an hour a contractor was there fixing it. There really is no more the staff can do they're all amazing. Breakfast is available to order to your room so we did, it was so relaxing not rushing to get ready to go downstairs.

The gym was a little tired and some equipment was out of order hence me marking down the facilities slightly.

Lovely big room, nice and airy and had a gorgeous bathroom with a whirlpool bath. Staff were lovely and friendly and food was good too. Outdoor heated pool was so welcome after a really long drive in warm weather. Perfect end to a busy day.

There was a lovely room behind the breakfast room that overlooked the rear of the hotel where the gardens and swimming pool were - it's just a shame that you couldn't sit there for breakfast. Other than that i really liked the hotel :)

The room was spectacular .. 4 poster bed .. hotel looked lovely all decorated for Christmas... lovely &clean too Friendly reception staff, lunch at the bar was great

Adjoining room door between my room 117 and the next door room was not at all soundproof... could hear football on their tv blaring out into my room and also a guy in there coughing his lungs out constantly which is not the hotels fault but it was worrying ... the door lock on the door had a keyhole which u could see thru and the cover on it was stuck upwards leaving the hole wide open It looked like someone had broken it A removable soundproof cover needs to be able to fixed to the door either side for greater soundproof and privacy to make it better Apart from those things I would rate it very highly

We stayed at De Rougemount for a friend's birthday party. The room was large, clean and the bed was HUGE! It was comfortable and a good temperature with a lovely view of the grounds. Staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Only 2 minor comments... The room key system is a little dated, and you end up with a bulky keyring in your pocket. The car park would benefit from a sign as you approach the turning as its easy to overshoot and then hard to find a turning spot on the country road.

I booked for my best friends birthday. On arrival the reception staff where very helpful and explained the restaurant and breakfast times. We had some bar food which was exceptional. we where really happy with the room, which was spotless. The breakfast in the morning was really worth the money and really well cooked. We were disappointed to leave and wished we had booked another night.

There wasnt anything to not like.

Our stay was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from reception to customer service. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel lounges and dining areas plus surroundings were exquisite. Evening the mealmenu was especially of good quality and well presented.

Our stay was not long enough. The fact that the hotel is closing in October. It's a shame that such a beautiful hotel steeped in history is coming to an end

Pool was excellent! Rooms lovely too, great bar and great staff. Breakfast was alright, although vegan option a bit lacking. No vegan butter/mayo. And wasn’t able to substitute something for something else (beans for an extra egg for example). However would definitely stay again! Mainly because of the gorgeous pool!

Only thing that wasn’t perfect/exceptional was breakfast but it was still good.

loved the room with a four poster bed and lovely stained glass windows fantastic architecture

some confusion regarding the bill a bill for half the amount we had paid was put under our door during the night before leaving the receptionist refused to issue a receipt for the cash paid, then issued a receipt with zero amount marked paid cash and when i went back argued with me before finally giving me a receipt for the full amount stating that it was impossible to print out a receipt from the computer once the bill had been paid. this was of course nonsense because she had printed out a bill for half the amount and put it under our door also not sure that eggs benedict is made with bacon and not enough sauce
