Room was extremely spacious with beautiful views over the gardens. Breakfast was tasty, well equipped and serviced. The staff were friendly and and attentive. The spa facilities were a little small but perfect for our use, as it wasn't busy when we used the facilities. The spa and gym staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Some of the features in the room needed a little updating. The bathroom looked a little run down - the shower knob came away in my hand when used and the shower head didn't fit in the fixing properly and had a tendency to flood the area around the bath. In the bedroom the plug sockets were a little lacking and didn't seem to fit standard plugs in? Some of the appliances like the bedside light didn't work. The nearby motorway could be quite loud and was quite encroaching when walking alongside the road leading to and from the hotel.

My husband booked our adult daughter and I a three-night stay in the Quy Mill Hotel & Spa near Cambridge in early Aug-2023. Great pre arrival communication from Veronika & Rachel in the reception team, who even offered to book a table at their in-house restaurant for us which we took them up on, and they even changed the reservation time as we were arriving later than originally planned which was great. The easy check-in process led us to a beautiful room with very comfortable beds and pillows offering a great night's sleep. The spa and grounds are stunning and the facilities here are second to none. Unfortunately, I left some clothes in the wardrobe when we checked out and the hotel staff called me, I asked if they would arrange shipping back to our home to save the 7 hours round trip to collect them, which Veronika & the other girls in the reception team did without hesitation, showing that nothing is too much trouble for them. Top Tip: If you want breakfast in the morning, then booking the night before will cost £15:00 whereas if you turn up in the morning without pre booking it is £22:50.

There was nothing that we didn't like about this hotel, from the room. to the grounds, to the staff, to the spa, to the food, to the bar... It was all great.

Spa was great: excellent facilities and the pool are was clean and tidy. Bar staff were excellent and the bar area was an attractive place to sit in the evening. The grounds are well kept and the seating area outside the bar is also a pleasant place to sit.

On the first two mornings at breakfast, things were chaotic. None of us got the correct breakfast - one was even forgotten completely until reminded! We all had cooked breakfasts and they were not very hot. (Mine was quite tepid - especially the first morning). Bacon was undercooked for all. Fat was still white all around it. Third morning was much better. (Could have been staff training issues). Carpet in our room corridor was quite dirty and one of the chairs in our room had dust collected in the corners - not what I expected to see!

The hotel has plenty of parking spaces. The room was compact but clean and comfortable with a charming view of the rabbits in the garden. We had lots of breakfast choices and the waiting staff for breakfast (especially the Scottish lady) were welcoming and chatty. The cooked breakfast was hot and we could order any changes without fuss. The new, young waiting staff in the evening were well trained, polite and attentive. The spa was a 'good to have' and we could see that the gym was well equipped and popular.

The receptionist could have smiled a bit more. He was a little cool. We didn't realise there was no lift to the third floor but we may have missed that when booking and at least it added to our daily steps! My husband didn't have a matching lamp on his side of the bed, so we had to use the table light instead, although that was not a big problem. We would also have liked to know that there wasn't a bath in our room. Our room had beams (if you are 6ft+ you might want to check whether you're on the top floor), which I presume meant that a bath wouldn't fit. But it would have been good to know in advance. The spa was a rather tired and the jacuzzi was tepid but it was good to get in a swim.

We had a sleepover for a night with our little grandchildren -they loved the swimming pool-and the gardens of the restaurant-there bed settee was very comfy for them to snuggle up with there teddies at night time.Stayed in a lovely room with a lovely little patio that we could sit in when little one had gone to sleep after a very busy day .

The first room we were offered was horrible and I most certainly was not going to sleep there with my grandchildren -it felt like a box with no light just a tiny window u could not open very much and that you could look out and see a garden you could not get to -which was a waste .It was a hot day which made the room even more claustrophobic. It most certainly would not have been a very comfortable night for the four of us in that room thankfully the lady at the reception understood and sorted our problem out as quickly as she could.

Lovely room, ambience and spar facilities - I have stayed here several times before and have always enjoyed my stay.

The wait for breakfast was unacceptable and spoiled my experience - the excuse I was given the were attending to a hen party - which would have been booked so extra staff should have been rostered to manage the breakfast mealtime morning. I and several other hotel visitors were disappointed with the excessive wait for cooked breakfast. In the end I just got up and went out as I could not wait any longer otherwise I would have been late for my first appointment of the day.

We had a break to catch up, and this place though of the beaten track is close enough to Cambridge but away enough to enjoy nature, The Food was lovely, Staff were friendly, They made a mistake with the room and so upgraded us at no cost. Breakfast was to die for, They swapped out Black pudding for extra Sausages etc, Nothing was to much trouble, We also had our dog with us, and she was welcomed in her own right and not an add on. Great all round experience and will do it again

Leaving, and not having time for the spa,

Very friendly staff in an excellent location. The breakfast was superb, the pool in the spa excellent and there are lovely grounds to sit in for a meal or drink in the evening.

We had a room in one of the outbuildings that showed distinct signs of neglect - one of the windows wouldn't close so we were troubled by the traffic noise on the nearby A14; one of the bedside lights didn't work and there was no handle on the wardrobe door. It was also disappointing that, on a very hot day, the room had no air-conditioning beyond a feeble fan (unlike the main building which was ice-cold).

When we were there gas was having problem with gas supply which is fair enough but ordered our breakfast and had to wait 50 mins for it expected a wait but asked twice how long and staff failed to get back to us it was as though we had been forgotten this made us late to get our hop on hop off booked trip in Cambridge we sympathise with the problem but not to get back to us twice is not very professional and feels like you have been forgotten other than that hotel was nice

Bright, clean and welcoming property. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good spa facilities - warm, comfortable and clean. Spacious bedroom, large bathroom, tea and coffee facilities. Excellent meal for dinner - delicious, well-presented food. Good variety of options for breakfast.

A couple of small issues - no hairdryer in the room, no mirror close to a plug socket for hair-drying. Room was quite hot overnight, despite windows being open. Coffee at breakfast was a bit stale - fresh coffee in a French-press per order would be a much better option.
