The housekeeper who helped resolve the issues we had in the room was very nice and very quick to rectify the problems we had. Although the room was old fashioned and haven't been updated for some time, the mattresses were very comfortable to sleep on.

The reception staff could have been a bit nicer checking us in and out, they were business-like but not exactly welcoming. We were given a room without the extra bed that was requested at the time of booking, and someone who used the kettle prior to us, had boiled something with milk inside which got burnt. So when we tried to boil some water it stunk up the whole room and we had to air it out for some time.

Overall the hotel was everything that you would expect from a 4* with good attention to detail. Room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean and we had a lovely view of the lake. Breakfast was excellent - tasty with plenty of choice including the option to help yourself or table service. Good choice of coffee, tea etc. Precautions re COVID were of a high standard - loads of sanitiser everywhere in the restaurant and reception and all the staff wore masks. The staff everywhere were very welcoming, helpful, friendly and efficient - well done!!

Couldn’t fault the hotel itself but it’s location means that the traffic is very noisy especially early in the morning in the rooms which are nearest to the dual carriageway which ours was.

The staff were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. They are all polite and friendly, delivering excellent customer service. Gave us all the information we needed for our stay and instruction regarding services we would be using throughout our stay. The room was clean, tidy and well presented with plenty of amenities. This was the best stay ive ever had in a hotel and is excellent value for money. Will definitely be using this location in the future. Well done to all the staff, keep up the good work and excellent standards 😃😃

We wish the leisure facilities had been reopened, that would have put our rating to 10.

Excellent location not far away from the M4. Whilst all around the hotel are busy roads, amazingly the hotel is located beside a lake and one can enjoy a walk around the lake itself which makes you feel as if you are in the middle of the country! There is a terrace above the lake and is the ideal spot to wind down and enjoy a drink whilst enjoying the scenery. The bedroom was very comfortable. Dinner was delicious and the staff very pleasant and served in a well ventilated restaurant. .

Fixed shower head in the bathroom and no shower cap available as part of the amenities

The TV was HUGE. The bed was HUGE and extremely comfortable. The staff were completely lovely especially the restaurant staff. I loved the idea of having tupperware of fruit in the mornings. The location is perfect especially with a tesco just over the road. The lake is also beautiful to overlook. The roast pork belly was lovely & so was the Welsh Smooth.

The room was very dusty when we entered & the bath mat didn't look very clean. Upon booking it said we would get a bath robe & slippers which we didn't get. There was a fan in the room which was incredibly loud as it wasn't put together correctly. After I had fixed it, it worked better however if you touched it it made a very loud noise. The desk chair arms looked like there were falling apart. The tea with the breakfast wasn't very nice. The queues were too long for the hot breakfast so we only had the cold breakfast. The lasagne dinner was burnt and wasn't very nice. The diet coke tasted like fizzy water with a hint of coke which was gross.

It was such a lovely hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside was our room didn’t get cleaned for the whole stay but that was only because of covid restrictions which can’t be helped. We were further away from Cardiff town than we thought. Booking.com advertises it as 3-4 miles but it was actually around 8-10. We got upgraded to a superior room for free which was great too! Got a booking at the restaurant without prebooking which we didn’t think would be possible.

We booked the hotel really last minute due to travelling down for a family funeral, we weren’t too bothered where we stayed. However, we were so pleasantly surprised. it was so accommodating and really tailored to our needs. The room was spacious and clean, comfortable and tidy and it had everything we needed for the reason we were staying. Good location, cozy and comfy room and very close either to shops and takeaways or to the coast. The staff was very friendly too. My family and I would definitely come back.

Room fridge, all staff were really lovely, bed amazingly comfortable & the black out curtains were the best! Coffee at breakfast was lush. We asked before arrival for wine glasses in our room which were there on arrival so very grateful for that extra touch.

A little out of date, not many plugs in rooms. The bath plug was insanely dirty. Breakfast was beautifully laid out but one toaster was a bit of a nightmare and packet pastries was a bit disappointing.

The room was an adequate size, the bed was very comfortable and it was good to have a bath in the bathroom. We used the restaurant couple of times for dinner and the food was good.

Unfortunately, we arrived at the end of a very hot week and, as the room was on the fifth floor it was consistently too hot to sleep (despite the fan being fully on). The television was far too large for the room and the reception was poor. Not usually a concern but, as it was the Olymics a disappointment.

we have stayed in the hotel several times, staff are always polite and helpful. The hotel is clean and the leisure facilities are good when open.

The hotel is very dated and in need of a revamp. there was a long wait on the hot food coming out at breakfast time. Leisure facilities are still closed.
