The location is definitely the winner for this place. If you want a day trip around the castle then it's in a perfect place - not too in the city centre but a 3 minute walk gets you there. This means that you don't get all the rowdy drunken behaviour that goes along with being in a city. The room was very spacious too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The price was a killer for me. I appreciate that it was close to xmas and a Friday and Saturday is going to be more expensive than a weekday, but the value for money was not there for me. Breakfast was extra but for half the price you could find somewhere down the road which gave you more grub. Personally, I don't like having a car park advertised as a facility and then getting charged for it. This also may sound trivial, however when you are given a room with a castle view and then the windows are so dirty you can hardly see said castle, it's not that much of a bonus.

The room was clean, spacious and well lit, which was handy as I had some work to do in my room. There were plenty of wall sockets available. The room had a hair dryer, Ironning board and iron and a large fan. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. The location of the hotel was perfect for the venue I was attending and also for the city cemtre and train station. All the staff that I interacted with were friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel was very clean. I had breakfast and there was quite of buffet cooked and continental style food. The food was very tasty and fresh and all areas were very clean. Again the staff were very friendly.

The only problem I found was that the toilet in my room had a nasty smell, not the bathroom, just the actual toilet. keeping the toilet lid down helped, but it was quite bad if I needed to open the lid.

Great location, right opposite the castle!! Beautiful interior with many original features Breakfast included which was self service buffet, but all fresh and hot. Choice of cooked, pastries, meats, and continental cuisine Every room has a bath!! One of the reasons we chose the hotel Staff were very friendly and helpful in all areas of the hotel. They all smiled and engaged with us, great customer service We arrived early but couldn't check in before 3pm as not prearranged and rooms not ready. But we were able to put on bags behind the front desk, perfectly safe as staff there all the time Parking is close by and reasonably priced, cheaper than most other hotels in the area Couldn't hear any traffic or outside noise Within short walking distance of good food and drinking venues, and a sainsburys express around the corner

The bedroom window couldn't really be opened. It was a heavy sash window that wouldn't stay open. We backed onto another part of the building, so no view or fresh air There was a freestanding fan provided, which we definitely needed Only booked in for one night, so no biggie, but may have been unpleasant if a longer stay The room was small but had everything we needed

Great location, right in centre so easy walking access to shops and bars etc. comfy room, clean and great value . Our room overlooked the castle ( bonus) and main road but wasn't at all noisy. I booked 2 twin rooms and requested if they could be close to each other which the hotel happily obliged.

Small thing but bit of a trek from the carpark to reception if you have heavy bags or it's raining, altho car park is behind the hotel there is no rear entrance . I pre ordered a vegan breakfast but only got some weird vegetable sausages and had to pick out vegan bits from main buffet for rest of it, which I was OK with but no vegan butter option for toast .

The hotel is in a great location and was very clean inside. The staff were all very helpful from reception, bar and cleaners. It was very quiet which then added to the ambience of the hotel itself. We stayed during the heatwave and to find a fan in our rooms was a great relief.

The room was very small so for a 2 night stay I would of liked a larger one. We were right at the back of the hotel in far corner. I didn’t request a quiet room so would of preferred a view of some sort. I think the hotel overall is very dated, right down to the rooms itself. The parking is limited and not ideal if u arrive later evening after a 3 hour journey to find you can’t park. However someone moved and I managed to park eventually.

Superb breakfast lots of choice with vegetarian and gluten free options available. Excellent location opposite the castle and with in walking distance of an array of shops and restaurants , also to the boat taxi which takes you along the river to Cardiff bay . Hotel has a very grand entrance and lobby, beautiful chandelier and staircase . Very good value for money . lovely comfortable mattress..... great night sleep . Car parking in hotel car park is only £15 from day of arrival untill 2pm on day of check out ....bargin

Nothing really , except if im being picky the outside of the hotel would look so lovely with some tlc and being painted. It's a beautiful old building and inside has been sympathetically refurbished . The lobby and sweeping staircase are amazing. I'm thinking maybe the outside is next on the list which would be the finishing touch to this lovely hotel .

Hotel was central to everything - shops, bars, Bute Park + boat trips to Cardiff Bay + train stations are about 10-15 min walk away. Room was looking across the road at the castle + the bus stop was right below our bedroom window. Very good selection for breakfast. Breakfast times had to be pre booked. We didnt eat in restaurant tho as we were usually out with family in evenings.

Rooms could be sound proofed a bit more as we could hear alot commotion arguing (arguing) at times from adjoining room. Some areas in corridors could do with painting to brighten it up.

Location was exceptional, with only a short walk from most of the main central sites of Cardiff. Our room was huge which was incredibly appreciated given we were traveling with a dog. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The common areas are beautiful and parking was easy to access, and reasonably priced

the bathroom is rather dated, and signs of wear and tear that could use a touch up. As mentioned, the room was huge, however we could have done with a fridge, as we did need to store some dog food. In saying that Reception were happy to store the items we needed to refrigerate for us which was appreciated. Walls are a little thin, the room next to us cam home late and loud and caused our dog to bark, but not a deal breaker. The room was a little warm on our departure day, however we did expect this from reading other reviews, and a fan was provided which we could have used if we were staying longer.

location is great. staff were friendly. hotel is beautiful. great price for what looks like a posh hotel. easy check in process, even at 23:00. lift access which i’m so thankful for. there were noise cancelling window slides and even though you were right next to a road, you can’t hear it really at all. had a view of the castle - lit up at night, nice in the morning. wardrobe was large. hairdryer, desk, mirror and kettle included. light switches near the bed. rooms were spacious and big. it felt i should have paid more for what i got!

In the morning, you can hear the room below so clearly, as well as next door and people walking past room, so walls are thin. cleaner missed the soap in the bathroom, probably just a honest mistake. there’s only 1 big towel in a twin room.
