Crowne Plaza - Sheffield, an IHG Hotel

Room very spacious and comfortable. Didn't use the gym facilities apart from the massage with Natalie from Knots Massage (which I accidently discovered upon check-in), which was absolutely amazing! She really knows her stuff and it was the best massage I've had! Hotel should really promote it more. Breakfast was really good too, tasty with plenty of variety. Staff are very accomodating and friendly.

The building, and especially the elevator/lift needs updating. The lift is small but I did notice some renovation taking place, but not sure if it was for minor painting. Hotel should promote the massage facilities more as I only discovered it by accident. No mention of it on Booking.com either.

The location of the hotel is brilliant. It has a grand, exclusive ramp entrance to it...one that is a legacy hangover from the now defunct railway station it used to share premises with. The railway station is now an extensive car park which is such a luxury right in the middle of Sheffield city...no shortage of car parking spaces. The hotel itself has all the legacy features from decades in the past when it has served as a hotel for railway travellers...right next door to the station that no longer exists. The spaces in the hotel are large, and the rooms are too. We had a room with two double beds in it. A great choice of pillows, which could be of better quality. Found one pillow that suited me. Slept well in the room. The AC does work, but the controls in the room don't influence the AC temp a great deal. Did not use wifi as I used my own telephone to tether my lap top to. The desk in the room is suboptimal, with a bar running across that you tend to butt your shins against..ouch! The room decor is wonderful...beautiful colours...clean carpet. The breakfasts are sumptuous and the staff are very helpful and courteous. The typical Yorkshire endearments were a great touch! Lots of very courteous and helpful staff of foreign extraction too. Good team ethos.

The room could benefit from a more user friendly office table..without the bar across that one butts your shin against painfully. Would have liked a shower cubicle instead of the in-bath shower. Better quality pillows would enhance the offering.

Only a short walk from the city centre. We were quickly checked-in (early I might add 👍). The building is beautiful, the room was spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite there being a little traffic noise from a nearby busy road and some noise from an event within the hotel. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely return.

Not realising there were wine glasses in our room, we asked for some downstairs and were directed to the bar. After collecting the glasses a security operative asked us not to return to the area. We were on our way out after briefly passing through to collect glasses having been directed there by staff. His approach to us and comments were entirely unnecessary. I don’t know whether he was privately hired or part of the hotel security detail but this is really the only negative comment I can make about our stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff is extremely polite, especially the beautiful girls at the reception Smruthi and Nicky 😊you are very kind and sincere, thank you very much for your help and understanding. 😊And also the man from the restaurant who helped us order the food, (but unfortunately we didn't ask your name😔) thank you for your help, you are a very kind, sincere guy with a nice smile😊Thank you, you will not leave us hungry. We also thank the cook for such dishes, it was very tasty. 🤤This team keeps me coming back here again and again. We will recommend this wonderful place to everyone.😊🤗

Unfortunately, the room was not very clean, there was a lot of dust and cobwebs.😔😔😔

I really like the hotel, lots of character and a mix of modern and traditional decor. Plenty of parking available and a short walk into the city centre Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Stayed in a junior suite which was comfortable and spacious, with a coffee pod machine and kettle, with plenty of tea and coffee supplies. Bathroom had a bath and separate shower. The toiletries were lovely. Breakfast was very nice with a great selection and kept well replenished.

The breakfast was lovely, though it would have been nice if there had been tongs to use for the bread and pastries. Minor complaint though as everything else at breakfast was great.

Room was excellent, beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean and nicely presented. Shower cubicle was a little small for a man. Loved the authentic surroundings and sympathetic decoration. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and lots of choice and good quality, very moderately priced at £10 each!

We had cocktails and beers in the bar Saturday evening and many of the options for the cocktails were missing so we ended up having just Cosmo's and Espresso Martini as these were all that were available. Those were very good though!

The staff were incredible - the hotel was full and they were really under pressure - but from reception, to the bar, to breakfast staff - they were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. For me, they made the difference from it bring a nice hotel and nice stay to a great experience

The lift! we were on the top floor and having my 92 year old mother with me meant that the stairs were not an option - but every time we took the lift we felt as though we were taking our lives in our hands. It rattles, squeaks, judders and groans!

Extremely comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. Everything was spotlessly clean. Very nice surprise to have 2 bottles of complimentary water in the mini bar. Lovely to have a window that opens! The only small negative is that the room was quite hot and i couldn't work out the air con .. All the staff were welcoming, polite and helpful and breakfast was delicious!

The property is stunning. The building is so quaint and beautiful. The rooms are really nice and modern with tall ceilings. Very spacious. We stayed here for a week while we were looking for a house to rent in Sheffield. We also stayed there for 1 night again while our rental house was being cleaned. The staff is always sooooo helpful and very nice! Love to walk in to see smiles on their faces. This hotel is truly a gem and we are so fortunate that we could call it a little temporary home for us as we moved from Canada to England. Thank you Crowne Plaza!

My only complaints were that I wish breakfast was always included in the price. The rates are quite costly just due to the fact that the hotel is fairly close to downtown and that fact that it’s a very clean and well kept hotel - offering breakfast wouldn’t be that much of an ask but it was an extra cost. One other complaint is that they don’t provide face cloths, otherwise the towels they provide were always clean and soft! My last complaint is that the air conditioner could have been a bit more powerful as it was quite warm out when we arrived in June.

I arrived early and waited in the bar until my room was available. I was delighted to receive a free upgrade and I was told it was the best room in the hotel. Indeed it was! It was absolutely lovely, right from the huge bed, the free-standing luxury bath in the bedroom to the separate seating and work area. There was a beautifully appointed walk-in shower bathroom with luxurious toiletries and a plethora of big, soft, white fluffy towels. I wish I could have stayed longer!
