How welcoming & friendly the staff were. How charming the room was and so nicely decorated. We appreciated there was a hotel parking lot with no additional fee attached! Also, how centrally located it was to everywhere we wanted to visit. We liked that our breakfast could be customized and everything was absolutely delicious.

Would have appreciated a fan in the room. Perhaps our own fault for not enquiring about one. My wife would have liked a mirror with better lighting close to a plug for the hairdryer.

The staff at the Spread Eagle were excellent, friendly and helpful. The room was great with a view of the river and surprisingly quiet at night ( it's on a sharp corner). The food and bar were very good and the breakfast excellent.

The bed was a bit soft ( personal preference) and towards the end of the season the bathroom needed a good scrub...it was clean but stained in the tile joints etc., which made it look grubby. That said yes we would go again!

the only minor point was I booked a room for an adult and 2 children, so double and sofa bed, but the sofa bed wasn’t made up. I asked again before dinner and they said it would get sorted, after dinner couldn’t put the children to bed and still not made. a staff member on their night off very kindly helped me in the end! a small oversight in an otherwise wonderful stay.

Our room was spacious and dual aspect with a view down the river. It was beautifully furnished with a lovely bathroom and nice touches such as delicious tiny Eccles cakes in place of biscuits. The staff were all friendly and very helpful plus dogs are made very welcome too. There are leaflets for lovely walks of differing lengths straight from the doorstep.

Just be aware that the quietish road wraps round two sides of the hotel.

The staff were so helpful and friendly. We had called the hotel a couple of times before our trip with some questions. Each time the staff answered our questions and were so lovely. The day of our arrival, some of our guests turned up quite late and a member of staff stayed to let them in. The hotel bar and restaurant was really nice. A few of us had food on the first evening and it was of a very high standard. The breakfast were amazing as well. Very fresh and good choice on the menu. Best scrambled eggs ever! The rooms were all very comfortable and the beds super comfortable. In total we stayed in 5 of the rooms and they were all nice. The hotel is in a nice quiet location, near a river. It’s very pretty and there is plenty of parking.

The location is picure perfect and funnily enough the website pictures don’t do it justice . We stayed in Room 11 it’s spacious with nice views from the dual aspect windows. Bar and dining areas also spacious and comfortable. Evening meal was delicious and breakfast next morning has a full range, also delicious Staff are friendly and attentive.

Couldn’t find a fault

All good, classic independent Pub / Inn, individualistic not remotely corporate with helpful competent staff.

A trivial matter, we had asked for one double room to be set up as a twin, they had forgotten to do this before we arrived but was sorted out in a matter of moments - only mentioning this as you are asking for a negative comment !

Comfortable, friendly inn with a homely atmosphere. Very popular with lots going on, yet staff always had time for us and were very flexible with mealtimes. Excellent ales and food. Stunning location with wonderful local walks and wildlife.

We can't think of anything!

This place was amazing. The location is brilliant, you have Sawley Abbey directly across the road in one direction and the River Ribble on the other. The venue itself was lovely. Ultra clean & super welcoming. The staff were friendly and explained that if there was anything else we needed just to ask them. The room was spotless & all the facilities were in good order. Good choice of drinks at good prices & the breakfast was great. Will definitely stay here again

Having to go home

Beautiful countryside and very friendly staff. The Spread Eagle is convenient for visiting the Trough of Bowland. When we had problems with our room, it was promptly changed and we were given discount for the plumbing problems.

The room at the front of the hotel is noisy so we had to move and the plumbing was a problem...radiator did not work(it was cold and snowy!) and taps loose with hot water coming out of the cold tap. Common areas need updating, especially carpet.
