The room was small but very well equipped (a good hairdryer, iron and ironing board and extra pillows), although it was a little hot, and the bed was very soft. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The short walk around the grounds was well laid out, and information provided for another longer walk that we did not have time to try. Food was good if a little unimaginative. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.

Check in was quite late 3.30 pm and check out quite early 10.30 am. We were not keen to have to decide on arrival what time we wanted breakfast, and the staff were very keen to move us out of the restaurant in the evening. We dined at 8.00 pm and by 10.00 pm we had been asked three times to move to the lounge, despite not having finished our drinks. It was a little inconvenient not to be able to charge drinks and meals to the rooms. Location was OK for a single night (or a wedding) but a bit remote if staying longer.

Gorgeous property in a stunning location. Wonderful staff, friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely- all homemade. Breakfast was plentiful with loads of choice. Really enjoyed the sausages. The bedroom was spacious with views over the countryside.. and sheep! Tastefully decorated throughout and a real pleasure to enjoy the extensive grounds. The only downside for us- hence markdown- the bedroom was very warm and stuffy. No fan and as per polite notice not to open windows because of flies and midges it was too warm to sleep properly despite a comfortable bed. Also not enough sockets. All 3 by TV. By bed would have been handy.

No fan or air con in newer part of the hotel. Not enough sockets.

I booked this property on a B&B basis and on that basis the hotel was first class. The building and grounds are stunning, the room was spacious, airy and comfortable and the staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. All in all superb value for money and breakfast was superb.

Unfortunately we decided to book an evening meal and although I have no complaints about the cooking or presentation it was definitely overpriced. £10.50 for 3 duck bon bons, £24 for a fish pie and £22 for a curry that would have been very small if we hadn't paid £4 extra for some prawns. B&B certainly but evening meal next time in a local inn.

Beautiful old house and the grounds are amazing. Every member of staff was friendly and welcoming. We chatted to reception , restaurant staff, maintenance guy and cleaners and every one was so nice and friendly. They should be proud. Food in restaurant was delicious.

It's not that I didn't like it but the house was built in 1635 and is amazing from outside but the inside has modern decor. Nothing wrong with that as it is very well decorated but if you are hoping the inside matches the outside, it doesn't. It's still a lovely place to stay.

It's a lovely building and the staff are great. Beds are comfy and bathrooms are nice. Good food in the restaurant and tasty breakfast. The grounds are nice too but you need the right weather as the paths can get a bit gooey and muddy in the wet but worth a walk around if you can. Despite the small troublewith the room, staff were lovely and tried to help as much as possible.

The only downside was that Booking.com implies that suites always consist of separate bed and living rooms. The first time we stayed it was exactly like that. We had the sofa bed made up in the living roo as my friend snores so that kept us separate! This time, however, the "suite" was really just a large double with a sofa bed on one side. They said that a lot of the suite rooms are like that so if you want separate areas (as we did) you need to make sure by contacting the hotel.

Breakfast excellent; evening meal very good but a little pricey; room good, clean & tidy but requires a little modernizing; staff all had a very good attitude & provided a great friendly service; will visit again.

Shower over bath needs modernizing, a small unit with low pressure, luckily we are not large people. Window system very old, was ok in good weather, maybe draughty in the Autumn months & beyond. Some guests using the adjacent corridor were noisy at times.

We stayed two nights attending a wedding. Brilliant venue. All the staff were excellent. From check in, bar staff and the chefs cooking breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is one of the best I’ve ever had. Unlimited and included in the price. Beds are super comfortable. And everything is immaculately clean.

We stayed in July and it was very warm. Due to midges the windows need to be closed so the rooms were very warm. Desperately needs air con for summer months. Only minor. My wife would’ve liked a shower head in the bath so she could wash her hair in the bath. Also no charger for toothbrushes/electric shaver.

The staff were very accommodating and changed our room with no question. The room was comfortable and spacious, the grounds were pleasant and food in the restaurant tasty with decent portion sizes. The guest lounge, conservatory and bar were comfortable and cosy.

The electric shower in the room had a low pressure, but I think this is usual with older style country hotels. Fresh coffee in the room, rather than Nescafe would have been a nice touch.

All the staff were all without fail absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. The food delicious. Had evening meal absolutely divine. Nicest dessert I have ever eaten! Not overpriced either .the breakfast absolutely delicious. Best sausages ever ! Again the staff so.kind + attentive. Definitely will return ASAP. Have recommended to all my friends.

My room mate (my Friiend )disappointed no bath + the shower was a little snug + neither of us are large ! I personally dont want a bath . ! Presumably the bath s are in double rooms . But disregard this tiny gripe. The beds were so comfortable + quality tea + coffee available

The room, located in the extension to the main house, was large and very comfortable with sofa. The bathroom was huge with a walk in shower and bath and done to a very high standard. Part of the grounds are a nature reserve where we walked after breakfast and saw deer, hares and rabbits. The grounds overall are kept immaculately. The breakfast was superb - cooked to order and very fresh. The chef and waitress were delightful.

The room we had overlooked another block separated from the rest and so the view across the valley was obscured by the roof top of this block. Having stayed before, we knew this was a possibility so it wasn't an issue.
