The breakfast set up was warm welcome and ease to find a table. All explained as to where the drinks were located and the cereal bar, with the main breakfast on a self serve basis.
As we were there for five nights we asked that our room may be cleaned/freshened on maybe day two or three. This never happened! Which meant our bins were overflowing, our towels required changing, and we had to get from reception our toilet rolls, when we collected our milk and tea/coffee top ups.

Breakfast was great , plenty of choice , staff very friendly and helpful and dining room extremely clean. Room clean and comfortable slept well. Very happy
Unfortunately during the evening the bar area was full of tradesmen all still dressed in their dirty workwear, watching the football and talking and swearing loudly, So after one drink we left feeling rather uncomfortable. Not what we were expecting in a hotel of such quality and a real shame as it marred what we had hoped to be a nice relaxing midweek break.

Very comfy bed. Excellent breakfast
Bath was extremely slippery, although there was a handrail and a warning notice , I think there should definitely be a slip mat in there too

Required an easy access room which was great . Plenty of space, good storage. Good size beds . plenty of pillows. good shower for a disabled person.
Lunch menu very limited, Evening menu needs to be broader. What's wrong with a selection of steaks? Dessert could use fresh fruit for people with allergies. Breakfast was disturbed by a photographic team taking pictures of the breakfast buffet and breakfast room, People have schedules to keep. Why cannot breakfast start at 06.45. We know you are trying to be eco and third world friendly, but the coffee in the rooms is horrible. In future we will bring our own. Funny because you use good quality tea.

The breakfast was good, plenty of variety of hot and cold food available one thing they never had any marmalade on the counter, which was not good .Had a assortment of black currant raspberry and apricot and blueberry jams.my wife had booked an evening meal for four nights, the menu was very good a choice of a three course’s meal every night which was five starters five main and five desserts. We stayed from Good Friday until Tuesday morning. The hotel what we found out they never seemed to change the menu from that point of time, which is not to our liking. If you stayed at the hotel for a seven to ten day break you will not have a variety to pick from.
We booked to have our evening meal for 6pm every night but later we were told that this was not possible as a coach party was due in at the hotel, and they had preferential treatment so we where told we could have our evening meal at 6.30-6.45 which did not go down to well. Another thing if no coach was not at the hotel they did not open the restaurant on Sunday evenings.so you would have to fine another place to eat I don’t know if the bar would do Sunday meals?. We did not have a telephone in our room I asked for one? But this did not happened.

This suited my needs for one night's accommodation required for work and was inexpensive. The location was convenient and facilities offered were good, even if I didn't use them. The room was spacious and comfortable, there was a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable and there was a desk and table at which I could work. The restaurant offered a varied menu.
The reception area is pleasant and well presented but the outside of the property could do with a spruce up. Would have appreciated a spare loo roll, was worried the half roll left the bathroom might run out!

Check in could have gone a little better - we were not advised where anything was and if we could pay for breakfast - I had already been offered an upgrade to include evening meal which I did - but when we got to restaurant the server knew nothing about this. Thankfully someone else came later and advised we should have been given vouchers at check-in. Food was wonderful and the staff great.
The fact we were not offered breakfast and no-one was about to ask if we could pay so left and went elsewhere.

The staff during our stay were amazing and really were what made me write this review. Constance on reception was so welcoming and just couldn't have been more helpful. The catering staff I met were so good. Joey seemed out of place because he was so exceptionally good! Victoria - friendly, helpful, unobtrusive, quick and very warm - they all seemed to work so hard looking after us. I would rate the hotel 5 star for the staff. We have travelled so much and stayed in much better hotels that have 4 and 5 star hotels but the people working in some of them could learn a lot from the Marks Tey. Breakfast was good too. Our rooms were very clean, warm and quiet.
Mattress rather old but linen decent quality and had a mattress protector and some kind of topper. The hotel is old but rooms had a kind of old charm - mattresses need replaced.

Kids loved the pool and my partner really liked the sauna and steam room. As it was a short stay and the pool closed in the evening, we had to choose between using the facilities or getting breakfast as we didn’t fancy getting up early enough to do both and breakfast ended at 10am. There were a number of restaurants locally offering breakfast up till 12 so we took advantage of those instead.
Young children in pyjamas running around the bar area late at night with animals in tow. Adults with them very intoxicated (barely able to stay upright) and other groups swearing loudly both in the bar and outside the front of the hotel.
