Location was great, I like to hear some hustle and bustle at night but I know its not for everyone. But that's what you get being on a high street. Decoration and style was great, always nice being in such an old building but the decoration and detail was spot on. A shame about being charged for breakfast as it was included with the rest of the wedding parties price. Staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Recommended getting the wings at the centurion pub down the road which was a good tip. Rooms were clean, showers were powerful, but the pillows were a bit firm. Maybe I being a princess but just being honest! Overall great stay, and would definitely stop again if visiting the area. Ps good speakers in the lobby area

Pillows were hard and breakfast wasn't included in the price whereas friends was. Nitpicking at best.

The room was supposed to be larger with a sofa but I was given a different room to what I actually booked

The breakfast was amazing!!! We had a bit of an issue with the first room but we got really quick assistance and changed rooms. The staff is really helpful and the location is quite central. There were clubs and bars around which made it hard to sleep during the night but if you plan to go out then it's quite ideal.

There weren't clear instructions on how to check in. We had to check-in in at another hotel nearby, luckily another person staying at the same hotel instructed us where we should go. Also, we had to pay £25 additionally as a pre-auth which would be released after our visit - this isn't the most convenient.

1. Location is at the heart of Colchester. We arrived by National Express bus and the stop is just 3 mins walk to the hotel. 2. Room is modern and comfortable. Bathroom with shower and modern too. 3. This hotel has a lift so really love it as I was travelling with heavy luggages. 4. My room comes with hot bfast at The George. Simple but delicious bfast with amazing atmosphere of The George.

1. Check in is at The George Hotel across the road as the hotel doesnt have a reception. 2. I booked a disabled room. The photos show that the room comes with a sofa but the one that I got has no sofa.

We were given a free upgrade and had a huge room with a wraparound balcony which was fab! Staff were really nice, and helpful. We were given a 20% off food at the sister hotel opposite. The food was really nice! Definitely recommend it. Breakfast was also over at The George and again was really good.

Trying to get to the George's car park was a nightmare! You'll need to get a permit from the council to drive diwn the high street ( easy to get and free though) and don't use the hotel postcode as it takes you to the wrong side of the bollards. It was also incredibly hot in the hotel, even with windows and the balcony door open. There was a fan in the wardrobe though luckily.

Great location, friendly staff and affiliated to the George Hotel across the road which meant we could buy food and drinks and put it on your room.

The floor fan was really loud found the noise from the fan made it hard to sleep and there is no airconditioning (only heating) we did find that we needed the aircon but the only option is the fan which is loud and over bearing at times. But everything else was perfect..

the room was amazing! and even when I got moved to another room, that one was equally amazing! The zie of the room, the cleanliness, the comfort of the bed, the ambience - I could go on.

I had issues with the first room as there was no TV remote in the room, and the hotel could not find a replacement. As a result, I got moved to another room that had a remote control. The whole process was tedious though, as the reception for the hotel is in another building across the street.

I liked the location easy reach of centre. The shower unit was pretty good. Plenty of room and closet space.

There was a smoke alarm that had a flashing light that went off every few seconds. Light keeps me awake so I had to buy an eye mask to be able to sleep. The lift stopped working for a day but was fixed quite quickly.

Exchanged room in St Nicholas for The George as the lift at St Nicholas broke down upon my arrival and I had to climb 3 storeys to reach my room. My wife is a kidney transplanted patient and has angiopasty done on her.

Lack of manpower. The lady receptionist had to help me to carrying my luggage.

the coffee at breakfast is awful. grainy, old style pot. car park is at an alternate location, no assurance of allocation and you have to apply to the council for a permit to drive down that piece of road. parking was £9.50 for 24 hrs. the hotel took higher than asking price at the desk and we were told the excess would be paid back after room was serviced. never heard of this before.
