Good location to get to places we wanted to go. No problem with parking. Friendly staff. Booked cosy double room which had everything we needed storage space, good shower and a fan as it was warm. Comfortable bed. Good varied choice for breakfast and had one evening meal in hotel which was also good and well presented.

Our room was on 2nd floor at the front, although it was quiet at night, the road outside became very noisy from 5 am with large lorries. The hotel cannot control this so it’s best to keep the window closed and there is a fan in the room. I would request a room at the back of the hotel when I visit again.

The owner was very welcoming. Our family room was actually a bedroom with a double bed and a connecting single bed room. Both are beautifully decorated and with very comfortable beds. The room and bathroom were very clean, the room also had a good selection of drinks and some snacks were included. From Cromford it is easy to get around both by car and foot and it's an easy walk into matlock bath. The breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked. It is centrally located on Cromford High Street and has parking next to the hotel. Cromford itself is pretty. We also were able to take our dog and arranging that was very simple. However, there are a limited number of rooms that take dogs, so make sure to check when booking if you want to take a dog.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, excellent tray and amenities in the room, good shower, comfy bed, fantastic breakfast! I very much enjoyed my stay, and the hotel is in a great location to explore Cromford and the surrounding areas. I didn't have chance to eat dinner/lunch in the restaurant but the menu looked good and I would like to do so in the future.

The pillows were a little flat so may not be comfortable for everyone (my partner prefers a thicker pillow so this is something I tend to look for). I slept well though!

The staff were absolutely exceptional. What a lovely team. It was a really super place to be and the food was absolutely fabulous. The bar area is really nice and the rooms were warm and cosy and the bed was super comfy and I slept incredibly well. It’s a lovely area and I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the peak district.

I’m afraid I’m coeliac, and although the food was tasty, and the team went to exceptional lengths to make sure there was food which I could eat, they served the bread on a bread board. I know that will sound like a very weird comment to anyone who isn’t coeliac. Most people wouldn’t know that coeliacs are very sensitive so breadboards and toasters which have been used for normal bread can result in a very negative experience for coeliacs. As a result, I was a bit ill, but I did genuinely appreciated the efforts of the team in making sure that I was catered for.

Nice room, friendly staff and good food, good choice of drinks including alcohol free options. Lovely area and cromford mill is worth a visit and walking distance, also had a nice walk along the canal.

The shower in our room flooded the bathroom if you ran it on anything more than 50% pressure which wasn't very powerful at all, there was a sign to ask not to use on full pressure, it took ages to drain so there's obviously a problem that they know about and hopefully going to fix so you can use the facilities you've paid for.

A very comfortable bed with excellent pillows and courteous staff. A pleasant dining room with a decent menu. The hotel is well over 200 years old so some quirks but everything worked including the shower which was perfect as compared to the following very modern hotel we stayed in. Would thoroughly recommend.

It’s on the main road but very easy to find and parked outside the front door - bit of road traffic noise at times but only to be expected and not intrusive.

Little things make big differences. Check in was informal and welcoming in the ground floor bar area. The bedroom was named, not numbered and quiet, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom more than adequate. Welcoming chocolates from the local chocalatier were very appreciated and showed local business mutual support. The breakfast was cooked to order, which has the benefit of being fresh to plate, with proper coffee and warmed pastries. We chose to eat in the restaurant as well, again small menu , cooked to order with a good selection of wines by the glass or bottle. Great location on the market square and interesting old building. The hotelier succeeds in going the extra mile to make guests feel welcome

Very friendly welcome and pleasant bar area to relax in whilst waiting for check in. The room was a good size, a large bathroom with some nice touches like a a coffee machine and little wrapped chocolates on the bed. We ate in the restaurant and were blown away by the quality of the food. The waitress (Kirsty) was engaging and attentive, suggested a local gin which was delicious and where to buy more. Both the sea-bass and the steak were perfect and the accompanying sides bursting with flavour. I don't recall eating a better tasting meal for years. The breakfast was equally excellent. Go for the location, stay for the food.

The bed was a little soft but still very comfortable.

excellent site nearby to sights. food was outstanding and staff were very well trained including the young man who served us breakfast. extremely well mannered and polite, didn’t get his name but we were very very pleased with him. any requests made were dealt with quickly.

no fruit or yogurt offered at breakfast. breakfast was outstanding and huge, fresh orange juice every morning but sometimes the wait was more than 35 minutes, tea coffee is served initially but toast isn’t served til breakfast arrives and 35 minutes is a long time to wait. room was a bit tired and the toilet seat was very wobbly. no plug sockets near my side of bed. but there was one near the door!!! not very practical at all. only 4 coat hangers offered for 2 people and No hooks in room to hang coats etc

Yes just one night,it was ok but thought there would be a bit more to see in the village, everything appeared to be shut.Nice hotel but rather dated ,comfy bed though ,breakfast ok but only had the continental .

Nothing really, weather not brilliant but that can't be helped and the day we got there they had just set up lights outside the hotel so build up of traffic didn't help outside.
