Really nice hotel - was expecting a smaller hotel not as well appointed. Hotel was lovely with good food

Staff were a little unattentive. The breakfast restaruant had no one to greet (so had no idea how things worked with tea/coffee, etc.) or take orders since the one person on duty was away chatting in the kitchen for protracted periods (both mornings different servers) so breakfast took a long time to be ordered and served but was great when it was served. Reception desk was unmanned for check out so cleaners had to find someone. In bar, server was distracted by friends and they were "playing about" rather than attending to other customers. It was more of an irritant than an issue but should be addressed....

This was a lovely 2 nights away with my mum, didn't know what to expect but glad we came. The rooms are immaculate, bed is so comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee even get some biscuits. Bathroom is a fab size and the shower is heaven. Staff are very polite, well mannered and smartly dressed and well go out their way to make your stay a great one. Breakfast is lovely and plenty of it to stay your day. Aye in the restaurant on the Saturday night and would highly recommend, food was hot and very tasty. I'd advice to book a we read it was best to and glad we did as it gets busy. Atmosphere is fab and the regulars are welcoming. Will be back again.

This hotel is an absolute gem. Centrally located for touring the Dales we loved everything about it. The price was excellent for a standard room - which in comparison to some we have stayed in - was not standard at all. The room was a great size, with an large bathroom, lovely toiletries and was spotlessly clean. We had a really good evening meal in the restaurant, again excellent value for money and the choice for breakfast for both continental or cooked was perfect. Our meals were well cooked, and nicely presented. Staff were very helpful.

Nothing not to like.

The room was clean and a good size. The toiletries and fresh towels were a bonus extra. Good tea making facilities. The evening meal and breakfast were very nice and plentiful. The bar manager who was on duty on the Sunday evening was very helpful and attentive.

Breakfast took a while due to their only being one chef on. I had to ask for a pot of tea at breakfast as the flask of tea was cold. The waitress bought it over straight the way and apologised. Maybe pots of tea would be a better idea in the future. The toilet paper was very low quality.

Plenty of parking on arrival and a warm welcome at the bar to check-in, and it took no time at all! The room was tucked away in a quiet spot, and was spotlessly clean. Lots of options for dinner on the menu, the stonebaked pizzas were delicous! Breakfast was also great, freshly cooked and quick service. Throughout the entire stay, the staff were very friendly and accomodating.

There was no fridge in the room but not necessary for a 1 night stay. The bathroom smelt damp on arrival, however leaving the fan on and putting the towel rail on high soon sorted it out.

We loved every minute of our stay. We visit Derbyshire regularly and every time we pass The horse and Jockey we keep saying we will pop in. The staff were really polite and nothing was to much bother, the young man took us to our room and explained how the hotel worked after hours. The room had ample space with a large TV, sofa and large double bed, best night sleep ever so comfortable we didn't want to get up the next morning. We had tea and coffee vacility iron and iron board and a lovely modern, well equipped bath room. We decided to book an evening meal which was very tasty, food was served in good time and staff checking every thing was ok. Back to our room after a few drinks we could snuggle up and enjoy Netflix in a lovely warm room, no after hours noise. Breakfast was delicious lots of choice and plenty to choose from. The bar was well established , very moden and a friendly atmosphere.

We didn't like the early morning wake up call (7.30 am)lots of loude noise coming from a small yard leading into a side door, maybe a delivery perhaps we could have been warned in advance, nevertheless we enjoyed a cuppa and soaked up another hour in our comfortable bed.

The location is excellent. The breakfast was really good but no marmalade - only jam. The decor was very good and well maintained. The staff were very cheerful and helpful so I felt welcomed.

The bathroom and shower floor were slippery for wet feet although using the bath mat helped on the floor. I was asked to check the bill when checking out and found that several drinks I never had were added. However there was no questions about deleting these as I only had one drink with each dinner. I was surprised that I was not asked to show my card when ordering meals etc to prove the room I was staying in as this would have reduced erroneous additions to my bill. I think the dinner menu could include more vegetables as standard on dishes but otherwise it was good pub food.

We only stayed for the one night but found it to be very comfortable, surprisingly quiet, clean and a good place to base yourself if you are exploring the Peaks. The evening food was really tasty and filling, the only drawback was our breakfast.

Unfortunately the breakfast staff (not really friendly) were not quite 'with it'. Although the chef was calling for service several times but there was no-one around, when it did arrive, of course, the eggs were hard as they had been hanging around for a while. The table next to us were not really happy with their service either as their breakfast order had gone around most of the restaurant as the waiter didn't know who it was for?? All other staff were helpful and very friendly it was just this little niggle.

A modern first floor room, all soft furnishings looked good quality and new. Our room had a large area in front of bed with sofa and big tv on wall. On our stay everything seemed nice and quiet. The bars were quiet on Sunday evening but a good atmosphere with a few regulars watching the Rugby.

Only comment I could make although quite trivial was that the Bath seemed to gradually lose water down the plug hole as you were lying in it , some issue with the push up plug which could be sorted fairly easily.

Great value, lovely room, comfy beds, very clean. Lovely roast dinner in the restaurant, perfect!

Only issue was a delay with our breakfast order waiting over half an hour for our food. I did have to ask a waitress about this before she advised there was only one chef so it meant a wait, had we known this on arrival that would have been better customer service.
