I loved the themed rooms. The beds were comfy and the view was amazing. We stayed in the wizard room & the kids loved it. Facilities in the room were well catered for

The evening entertainment was ridiculously priced for a can of Guinness was more than you'd actually pay for one on tap coming in just under a fiver, the bottles were the same price too, we spent £30 on 4 drinks and a small toy & that's just pure greed when you can go into Matlock itself and get decent things at a fraction of the cost. For this reason we won't come back

Mole was fabulous for me and my 6 year old and 2 year old. It was clean and comfortable and had a the facilities I needed. It had its own parking right outside which was valuable to me as it meant I could sort the luggage alone while being able to see the children at the same time. The location was wonderful with approx 100m walk to the entrance to gullivers kingdom and probably 200m into Matlock Bath high street. My children were able to walk the distance. The staff were super friendly and helpful which was so nice and kind and appreciated as this was the first time away on my own so I was a little uncertain if I could do it. The children’s evening entertainment was great as the staff were very friendly and it was included in the price which is good as I wasn’t sure what we would do that evening but all I had to do was turn up and there was a disco, ghost walk, marshmallows, spooky story at the camp fire etc. Fantastic view of the fireworks to end the night.

Nothing bad at all about the property. Mile was perfect and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. The restaurant lacked gluten free choices for children. The only option they had was hotdog sausage with chips. We had already had chips for lunch and he really wanted pizza so was in tears that there wasn’t anything to choose from.

The way they have made my son birthday special , the room was really nice decorated and very clean, the beds were comfortable , bedding very clean , towels very clean and soft. We stayed in the Pirate suite number 5 and it was just opposite the reception , we found a parking space nearby the stairs that went up to our room which was very convenient . It is very close to the Gulliver’s Kingdom . The shower was so powerful . The dinner was delicious and very reasonable priced. We was lucky enough to see the fireworks display as as part of Matlock Illuminations which it was amazing . My son had a very nice day at the park and sleeping over for his birthday.

It was a bit cold at night and there is no way you could put the radiator temperature up as it is locked to a certain temperature and during the night there were only 13 degrees in the room but once you warm up in the bed is ok .

Perfect location for a family break Great facilities for children and great day/evening entertainment on site for the family Staff all very helpful and friendly Food reasonably priced and of reasonable quality

Paid extra for the explorers themed room but think overall needed a deep clean and then it’s the little things like a plug for the kitchenette sink, kitchen roll for the kitchen roll holder, cleaner attending daily (don’t think they attended during 4 day stay), better stocked tea tray (only had two tea bags and two coffee sachets), more than one toilet roll, a toilet brush, a working fridge etc

The room itself was way above our expectations, was very clean and warm. Location is excellent and view from balcony (our room was cave 16) was amazing. Facilities were basic but very good, everything you could need. We arrived in middle of the worst thunder storm we have ever seen, but watching the lightning from our balcony was so cool. Childrens area in the room is very cool too with heavily themed bunk beds. Nice szed tv (which had hdmi port accessible for our firestick) and the facilities around lodge were very cool, and i imaginena really nice place to sit outside and have a beer or two in the summer... Already planning a return trip...

Few little things we thought could be improved were, signage to show access to resort was non existent, no signs on entrance road pointing to accomodation, you have to use keypad on gate for accomodation road entrance but there was no signage to this effect, only signage was for the park itself. It was dark when we arrived and lighting to lodge was a bit poor in places. Also there was a little bit of wear and tear to the room, ie carpet slightly worn and bathroom sink cracked slightly. Also room was large but only had std double size bed when they could have fit a larger one in. But overall would still massively recommend the accommodation.

Such a great setting for a hotel and location was great for going into Gulliver's Kingdom itself. A few hills that require actual hiking to get up and down them however, worth it when Matlock Bath is down at the bottom (you can also leave in car and return if you can't be bothered with walking). Entertainment was on for the kids in the little clubhouse which was a bonus, the host had heaps of energy and did well keeping everyone engaged.

Fire alarm on the full complex sounded off at 2:30am with no real explanation as to why - no fire.

Simon at reception was great at helping the issue with the fridge in the room, which was not working and had a pungent smell. However, the way Simon handled the situation was exceptional. He was a very kind gentleman. I liked the intimate and small nature of the complex which meant all the child4ren played together in the evenings and parents could sit in the area and watch from a distance. The on site restaurant was such a bonus taking the stress away of having to travel out to get food. I absolutely loved this place despite the small hiccups.

The fridge should be a bit bigger and should definitely be working. The rooms did have a smell especially the bunk bed areas.

The staff welcome was fantastic, loads of information provided and they were friendly and helpful. The location is brilliant for access to all the Matlock Bath facilities and Gullivers Kingdom. Our themed room was great fun & a really generous size, had a lovely balcony, and the kids loved the curtained off bunk beds. Being able to eat on site saved our legs after a long day exploring; we had a tasty evening meal there and a drink from the bar afterwards. The additional evening entertainment for the kids and the play area were definitely an added bonus.

Some areas of the site are just a little run down, as is a little of the rooms decor. The bunk beds were only just big enough for the kids, but if they were much older I don't think they'd fit (9 & 13 currently). There was a bit of a drainy smell in the room, I'm sure could be easily sorted. The breakfast was very basic for the price, but fine for a quick bite to eat.

The complex is well designed with families in mind. It's nice to be able to park separately to the theme park general traffic which is extremely busy!! Evening entertainment an added bonus which we weren't expecting but be prepared to pay extra (bingo tickets, marshmallow toasting). Lovely park available next to the accommodation with a 'facilities room' hosting a microwave etc. Table tennis available outside, lego and table inside are nice touches for the children who aren't fans of bouncing about to music on an evening. Staff all brill with the kids! The rooms are clean and well presented. There are definitely signs of children such as scuffed walls etc, but didn't bother us! Beds comfy enough for a one night stay! We really enjoyed our visit.

The whole complex is built on a very steep hill/mountain. Access to the hotel car park itself was an almost vertical drive with cars parked either side of the road. It was very narrow. No biggie if you're a confident driver, however we have a big car so found it rather unnerving. I'd recommend parking at the bottom of the complex if you aren't a fan of driving up steep hills, but then you face the walk instead (equally as tedious).

The room was great, not big but well laid out, so it didn't feel small, my daughter loved the Pirate decor at the explorer's retreat, The staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was excellent, great shower! There was a microwave and kettle in the room. overall we enjoyed our stay!

The room was for the most part very clean, but the bedside shelves were left dusty, and there were some small items of rubbish from previous occupants under the bed. the duvet was a double with a kingsize cover ??. During the stay, the teabags etc were never refreshed and the bin was never emptied. There was nowhere evident to take the rubbish to, I had to stuff it into a nearby litter bin.
