Langstone Cliff Hotel

The staff were great and always helpful, and the location worked well for a trip to East Devon. A short walk to the beach and easy drives to multiple Devon attractions and activities (Kent Cavern, Lyme Regis etc.). Pools were clean and lovely and there was plenty for the kids to do at the hotel - entertainment some nights, play areas and soft play. Great for families!

The breakfast is very basic and could do with some improvement - some cheese, cold meats, additional bread types and rolls. Some more fresh fruit options. The family rooms are a bit tight with more than 1 child but comfortable and everyone did have a bed. Other than that, great family stay.

The check in was swift and on time. The grounds are extensive and very well maintained. It's a pleasure to sit on the lawn and look out to sea. The Hotel is spotlessly clean and kept to a high standard. It is a short walk down the hotel drive to a bus stop that can take you in to both Dawlish or Dawlish Warren. Dawlish Warren beach is down a steep hill and takes around five minutes to walk to. This was perfect for me as i arrived on the train and didn't have transport whilst i was there.

Being a lone female traveler (If the review has a male name, it was booked with my husbands account) I was a little shocked to be told my room was in a bungalow outside the hotel. The room was fine and it had everything i needed, but if you travel alone and need the reassurance of a hotel environment, maybe check when booking to confirm that you have a hotel bedroom.

We loved this hotel. We had a lovely room which was very clean and as we arrived it was a heatwave so the air conditioning was a bonus. The breakfast was served in a bright conservatory and was superb. The staff especially in the restaurant were very friendly. It is a dog friendly hotel and our dog was allowed to come with us into the lounge area. The gardens are beautiful, a real asset to the hotel. A short walk from the hotel was a leisure complex with restaurants, a lovely pub and children rides/ Go Karts.

Great that it’s pet / dog friendly. It’s a great location with a well kept lawn area and plenty of places for walking the dogs within the grounds / woods.

The mattress was worn, and you rolled to the middle which made it very uncomfortable to sleep on. During our stay the internet for the entire hotel went offline. There is also no proper phone signal at the hotel location. So no 4G / 3G or internet via their WiFi…

All the staff didn't appear to like guest who booked via booking.com,because they kept mentioning it to us and we were charged for the parking even though it stated free parking for hotel guest if you registered your number plate at reception,which we did on our arrival.we also asked for a local map of the area,staff told us where to go and look for the map,which we did but there were non left ,therefore we informed the staff of this and all they did was say sorry and continued working on the computers.they didn't offer to go and look for any maps for us ,or to give us any directions to beach/town e.t.c.there was no customer service at all ,which is a real shame because it could be an excellent hotel,if all the guest were treated the same.

The hotel was very clean. Our room was a family room. Good sized room as we were a couple without children. Room also came with aircon, which was unexpected but a lovely surprise! The swimming pool and outside areas were all very good. Great location. Would recommend this hotel.

There wasn't anything I disliked about this hotel. The staff however were very overworked. Need more staff. This seems to be same over the resort.

Lovely location near beach and all ammenities. Smallish room but very comfy bed; would suggest offering some soft new pillows as three out of our four were hard and lumpy. Very nice bar and leisure areas.

As above, need new pillows. As an asthmatic I found that the chlorine smell from the pool seemed to get into all areas which meant I ended up with a sore throat and cough but not sure what could be done about that. It would be good if you could eat in the restaurant a la carte without having to have the full menu.

I was given a room and ensuite in a little bungalow outside the main hotel. It was so cute. I could park the car very near to it too. The swimming pool was good; there was even a small fitness room. The views from the property were superb. Dawlish is within walking distance and if the tide is out, the walk along the sea wall is very beautiful. The reception staff were excellent and I was given a number of tips when I checked out. The bar staff were also very attentive and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Maybe a wider choice of lighter evening bar type meals.

It wasn't made clear at the time of booking that there would be a £4 surcharge effectively for car parking as I was booking through a 3rd party whereas directly through the hotel would have given free parking. It's like choosing a restaurant based on its menu in the window only to be told subsequently that you'll be charged for using a plate. Highly dubious!

The friendliness of all the staff, the cleanliness of all areas, including grounds , bedrooms, and all public spaces! Not forgetting the exceptional choice and variety of food 5☆.Good value for money.

I'm not too keen on being charged for on-site car parking, and the prices of drinks are a little more than we expected.
