Good location, quiet street, friendly staff. Very clean room, comfortable bed, tea and kettle available in a room which I really liked. Really cute place, would definitely recommend for a short stay, if you are visiting Edinburg.

Room was smaller than I expected, heating didn't work(I was there in February), however electric heater was already in the room. It was a little colder in the night, so just bear that in mind. Also I forgot some stuff in the room, but nobody even let me know afterwards(didn't bother me though, it was just cosmetics).

The breakfast was very well with toast, cheese and ham. Eggs, boiled or scrambled, were served. Juices, table water, tea and coffee were also available. With the new tramway, the connection to the inner city is possible within minutes but is also in walking distance. The same tramway goes all the way to the airport, which is very convenient. The personnel was very kind, information about tours, museums and others can be found near the reception desk.

A small con was the lack of a table in the room.

Great location for shopping and exploring Edinburgh. Staff were so so kind and helpful and lovely! Rooms were incredibly clean and tidy with a lovely decor very homely! And all for £32 a night!!!! - ps breakfast is not included but it’s only an extra £10 which is worth it in my opinion.

it could possibly be too far from the bus station and train station for some people but if you don’t mind a little walk beforehand it is worth your stay! (the guest house is a 20 min walk from Princes street) there is a bathroom on each floor that is shared between the 3 rooms on that level but it is lovely and clean and bright not a problem at all!

The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. They were welcoming when I arrived and quick to sort out anything I asked them. The area was very convenient for the city centre annd the seaside and had lots of options for food but was also quiet enough to sleep peacefully. The room was clean, comfy and well-maintained and everything worked well. On-street parking was safe and easy to find.

The corridor leading to my room was incredibly echoey and magnified any noise from inside the hotel massively - they need to put some soft furnishings in the hallways to help stop this. Room would have benefitted from a bedside lamp as well as the main overhead one. The drain from one of the upstairs bathrooms led through my bathroom and sounded like a waterfall every time the other room showered!

It wasa good location for me, half way between the city where I was meeting friends and Leith where I was working the next day. I walked up into the city which was about 15 minutes.

The toilet and shower were not only in a separate room but I had to go out into a shared corridor, which meant locking my room, it wasn't great for £95 but there was a big football match on that night and rooms weree scarce. Room is small.

The staff was excellent and very hospitable.

The booking procedure with booking.com was confusing and there were five nights we stayed August 8-12 and one of those nights August 11-12 was declined so we paid twice on August 11-12 this was double booked. Communication could have been better. A cancellation in advance would have opened the room to another guest.

I liked the location, the room and the silence. WiFi. There is an opportunity to watch TV and make tea, coffee with milk. There is a hair dryer.

They removed the trash from the basket in the room, but left it in the bathroom. The closers on the doors pressed very hard, the entrance door to the room was difficult to open.

Liked the location most of all (Leith) though there was a bit of construction and it is far from the city center/old town. Beds were comfy, bathroom clean and spacious. I liked the view from our window.

The room was small. Also, I asked the front desk girl to call me a cab well in advance for a specific time to the train station and I don’t think she actually did because no taxi arrived. We missed our train as a result. Night staff was great though.

Although the room was on the small side, it was comfortable, the staff were quite helpful and always smiling. Located about twenty minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverly station, (without luggage), the Pilrig Guest House is quite accessible and within walking distance of most of the attractions. Although there was work happening on the road for the new light rail, my wife and I had no troubles finding a good meal and lovely shops, like the old fashioned Model and hobby shop close by. I'd like to visit again after the light rail is active in the area, as it was an enjoyable stay at this guest house and I'd do it again.

What we didn't like was outside the control of the Pilrig Guest House and that was the road work which made our walk a bit more difficult. The Pilrig Guest House itself was loverly. I wish I'd explored more around the area.

Everything was great. The staff was friendly and responsive. It was clean and warm. The location is perfect if you are traveling with car - you can park on the street and there are enough free spots. There is a tram and buss stop 2 mins walk from the place. Nerby, there are enough supermarkets, caffeterias and bakeries.

We don't have any recommendations.
