It was a reasonable price for the room and it was in a good location. the staff was helpful and very nice.

the toilet location was a bit awkward. the was a metal rack that made sitting difficult. the water was not very hot in the shower.

From the pictures we saw online, we were expecting very little to be honest. As there was 6 of us travelling, we thought that our apartment would be the equivalent of a penthouse suite. But, by golly were we wrong - and very happy to be wrong! The apartment turned out to be a 4 bedroom house, with enough space to fit at least 15 people. It appeared to be a Victorian home, with the bedrooms and bathrooms renovated but still keeping the gorgeous staircase and hallway as they were. We were beyond thrilled with our lovely find!

The kitchen/living room area was incredibly small - especially given the size of the property. Also, it was a bit annoying having to drop the key off to reception and pick up every time we left or returned to the property.

The location of the hotel was perfect, right under the Calton Hill, near the old town and the Arthur's seat, everything in walking distance. The room was quiet and the bed very comfortable. There was a kettle and some tea available, also the iron and ironing board available in our room.

The breakfast was across the street (our room wasn't in the main building) and could be more rich. There were no vegetables (I know it's not usual in the UK, but guests are mostly from the EU), only toast bread available and overall I expected a little bit more. I asked via booking, if there is any possibility to charge the phone via USB or with an EU charger (we didn't have the UK adaptor) and the answer was that USB charging is not available. What a surprise, when we came to our room and there was not only USB charging, but also the EU socket. So the employee that answered my question had no idea about our room equipment, and it didn't make a good impression on me.

Our apartment room was huge & comfortable, with a big double bed. There was a kitchenette which we hardly used. The toilet was huge too, But more about the toilet later.

There's no door to the shower cubicle. Looks modern but useless. It didn't avoid the wet splashing of water everywhere, even after placing the bath mat on the flooring after each shower. This was not good for the next person! In addition, there was no grip or holder in the shower, as I also found it was a bit slippery in there! Any hazardous accident bound to happen anytime! The geometric patterns on the carpeted steps leading to our basement accommodation proved to be tricky and illusionary especially during climbing up & down the steps. One missed step...that's it!

All the staff were very friendly, especially the night bar man on Monday and Tuesday night 🥃 The bar stayed open until at least 1 am. The room was nicely decorated. When we checked out, we were given a little box containing 2 little macaroons. This was a lovely touch 😊 and we had them with a cup of tea at the airport.

The mattress on the bed was very hard. We took the drinks from the bar back to the room, but for some unknown reason, they were not removed by the maid, and we ended up with quite a collection of empty glasses.

Check in was easy, the hotel is spread over a number of buildings in the same street. We had an attic apartment sleeping four which was perfect for us. Beds were very comfortable, the rooms quiet and the over bath shower good. Hotel is ideally situated for the Playhouse and a short walk from Waverley, restaurants (I'd highly recommend Toranj, just round the corner) and shops.

Hotel was value for money for central Edinburgh. Breakfast was fine but I'd have liked a wider choice of hot foods. A tea towel in the apartment would have helped us to clean up after ourselves better.

Our room is located in the opposite building of the hotel itself, it is a nice cosy room, no stairs to access the room at all and the room itself is quite spacious. We love the smart TV has all TV platform installed, all you need is to login your own account.

opposite side of the old town like 10-15mins walk from train station. So you will need 20-25mins walk to old town but there are some small restaurants around, also cinema and shopping mall.

Very close to old town and St James Quarter, easily accessible for transport, be warned there were disruptions to the transport during our stay as they are adding in cycle paths but they are normally just around the corner. There are a lot of really nice restaurants, bars and entertainment close by which was really handy for days we didn't want to go far. Rooms were clean, and the whole area was quiet even though it's close to a main road.

It would have been nice to have a more comfortable bar area to chill in the evenings after a long day in the city. The room was a little stuffy, so we needed the fan on even during the night. This may not be practical for young families.

The staff were very helpful. The property is comfortable and clean and a good location to public transport, although I just walked everywhere. There are a good number of power points in the room for using equipment and charging and the light switches are located in spots where you think they would be. The bed was very comfortable.

There was an issue through the booking company which I will resolve through them, but the Hotel staff did what they could to address the issue with me and were prompt and helpful.

The room was comfortable with a huge bathroom and big windows looking out onto the enclosed courtyard. It felt very much like a safe cave since it was so quiet…apart from my complaint about the water pipes.

The plumbing, although with great water pressure was extremely noisy, when the room next door was showering the sound was amazingly loud in our room, so much so that it woke us up! The stairs down to our room were extremely shallow and steep…our suitcases hardly fit down them.
