A budget backpackers on the edge of the city, it meets all expectations. The building is old and seen many travellers, but I wasn't expecting much more from the backpackers. The kitchen was spacious and had all that was needed. Bathrooms were as clean as would be expected for communal bathrooms. Area was safe and about a 20-30 minute walk from the Edinburgh sites.

A lot of left food in the kitchen, gave a slightly unhygienic feel. I better food storage/removal system would be appreciated. No communal tea/coffee (or at least none that was easily findable) which would have been a nice touch. These are very minor issues and don't take away from the stay at all.

The location is perfect! We walk to the center! The area is nice with a huge park. The beds are comfortables. If you need to check out and want a space to let your bags for the day it is possible.

The bathrooms are not great. Missing toilet paper, water on the floor no towels to clean it (by the way you need to pay for towels so bring your own), in one bathroom there is no mirror whereas there is a space for it, ... Etc. improvements to make but overall it was a good stay.

The location and neighborhood was lovely, the system with the kitchen and food storage worked well for us, the room was nice, the mattress wasn't great but I loved the comforter/blanket. I was worried the room might be cold because I'm quite chilly but it was really toasty and you can easily open the window or turn the heat down if need be. The little backyard/garden was very cute and cosy and was a big plus for me! The staff was super nice and helpful, all in all met my expectations for the price point, would recommend if you're on a budget

The WiFi signal in our room was practically nonexistent so you had to go to the stairs or somewhere else in the building which wasn't very convenient but also not a huge issue. There's carpeting on all the floors which I think is pretty standard in a lot of countries so if you're used to that no problem, but for me personally always feels a bit unhygienic. There were no locks for the lockers in our shared room and we didn't bring any, staff said they were working on it though so might not be relevant in the future, just ask before you get there if it's important to you (or buy one in the hardware store close by)

The location was ideal and it even has a shop opposite the house for your basis needs. The kitchen was fully operational and spacious providing free tea and coffee, large fridge and numerous bathrooms to use on several levels. Left behind cosmetics was available to all so in case your forgot shampoo etc you could use the donations. This was not only environmentally useful but also helpful for light travelers. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful, too.

There was only one thing during my stay that when I upgraded prior to arrival a deductions was made from my cancellation. However, speaking to the staff it got resolved instantly. So nothing to worry about.

I had such a good time staying here. I don't usually go for hostels as I like privacy, but this one really helped to change my mind about them. Amazing value for money, very helpful staff, good facilities - I especially liked that they just have normal bathrooms, not the public toilet format with cubicals. They have a kitchen with everything you need, which I didn't get to use because I only stayed for one night, but it looked great. Met some really nice people as well. I would definitely stay here again.

The blinds in the room didn't close properly (but I didn't really mind).

As a cheap backpackers place I had low expectations, but since it was for one night I didn't mind as long as we would have bed. But I definitely didn't expect such a cute place. It is within old terraced house (I'm assuming) and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. It felt like visting your granparents place - in the best way possible, everything was very clean, staff was lovely and helpful and our room was great as well. I actually preferred it over many hotels I have stayed at in past. Definitely would recommend as an amazing budget place to stay.

very warm & cosy clean & fully equipped rooms friendly staff great close location to old town free parking outside lots of bathrooms all clean use of large kitchen & lounge home from home like staying at a friends good basic clean warm accommodation. no frills so don’t expect luxury but it’s better by far than more expensive hotels we’ve stayed in. it’s an old building so there are odd marks on walls, windows but bedding clean, comfy beds, very hot radiators, windows that open to let cooler air in, lovely hot bath or showers. other guests very nice young students well mannered polite. staff so friendly and provided us with extra pillows & hairdryer within minutes of asking. really surprised how comfy and convenient it was after reading such dreadful reviews? we must have just been lucky but we couldn’t fault it for the £50 a night we paid for a twin room. it’s cheap so if you want the Ritz then maybe pay more money and get the posh hotel you expect. it’s great value for money & we will stay here again.

nothing couldn’t fault it for £50 a night in a twin room. better than more expensive hotels we’ve stayed in.

Hostel with private rooms and beds. Shared 2 kitchens and several bathrooms. Don't expect Hot Water, however, they had everything we imagined under the price. Overall satisfaction :)

I liked the location of the hostel, it was near the university and a big park, also some cafes and restaurants very close by. The reception person was very nice, she did my laundry and returned it to me after the reception was supposed to be closed for the night. The house itself is cool and has 2 kitchens and a nice little backyard area. The wifi did not work great in my room, but was fine downstairs.

I loved the people I met here!! The hotel overall It's quite cozy and warm. The Taiwanese staff was super helpful and nice. She invited us for dinner, and we had a great night playing Rummikub there. You don't need to worry about the heater here is quite hot most of the time across the entire hostel.

Wifi is not quite good. And the table/chairs beside the kitchen were broken. The location is a bit far from the city center too.
