Found out once we went to dinner there was a scaled down menu, one online had looked lovely, with same options for both lunch & dinner. When pre booking our dinner table was informed that earliest we could have a table was 7.40 as they were very busy, arrived to find only two other couples in restaurant. Apart from breakfast time restaurant seemed to be very under used. With so much competition in Edinburgh maybe that should be looked at. Do understand them going green but in 4* hotel wouldn't expect to have to ask to be provided with toiletries, it's part of what you pay for.

The two guys working at reception we met were both really friendly and helpful. The room was nice and big, bed was comfy. Cute wildflower seed packet as a gift. A couple parts of the breakfast we did like (some cons below) were the range of different jams on the table and having tea brought to us.

The breakfast was disappointing overall. We arrived with just over an hour left of the time slot for breakfast and no new hot food was put out in that time. It’s not unreasonable that guests would arrive in the last hour, and those people deserve a range of hot food too, not just the scraps from the first half of breakfast. The potato scones were tough and the eggs were rubbery. Just a really disappointing range of food too. We’ve been to way cheaper hotels that had better tasting hot food, even multiple pastry options (not just croissants). The breakfast experience was nowhere near worth £15 each, it should have been £15 for the both of us! Sorry to be negative but with the rest of the hotel being to such a high standard it was just a bit of a shock.

Everything is on par, location is splendid and room is tidy, staff are really helpful, and no charge is imposed on luggage storage on the day of our departure. The reception also waited for us on our day of arrival past midnight as we had a delay in our flight, so don’t worry if it says “your room may be cancelled if you check in after midnight” during your confirmation!

Needed to walk quite some distance from the reception to the lift; travel partner complained of some occasional weird noise at night; unwanted used handkerchief appeared on our shelf after room service on the second day.

The room was lovely with lots of space, really comfortable bed and a high pressure shower (which is a must for me!). We booked the hotel last minute (literally when we were outside the front of the building) as the other place we had booked turned out to be awful - the staff at this hotel were so kind, it really turned around our experience of Edinburgh! I will definitely stay here again!

The TV was just Freeview, it would be better if it was a smart TV or had Chromecast or something similar.

We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment but our room was lovely with nice decor , staff were very friendly We loved our visit the Surgeons museum & it was just round the corner . Also near shops & bars . 20 Min walk to the Playhouse . Great location !

Just a small thing not sure about the glass door In the bathroom & it was a very squeaky when closing esp during the night . I like a room with a Nice view but We had a room looking on to the back of the hotel which wasn’t great but facing a skip & noise from a generator I had to close window during the night . Just a personal choice & realise it’s the city centre & can’t control this . Would not put me off going back !

I had a single room, which was small but roomy enough for one person. Lovely, large walk-in shower, comfortable double bed, window easily opened enough to allow fresh air into the room. Good wifi and desk area where I could work. Location was excellent for my reason for being in Edinburgh, easy access to public transport. Just off the main road to be quiet and away from street noise. Staff very friendly, accommodating. Breakfast good.

Although the en suite bathroom was large enough, the large glass door did not open fully, and it was very difficult to get past it to the toilet and shower. The door stop could have been moved another cm toward the wall to alleviate this problem. I manoeuvred myself as best I could over two days' stay but scraped my shin on the edge of the glass door on my last night. I agree with previous review about the shower toiletries -- if the hotel claims they are trying to save the planet by reducing single-use plastic, why not have refillable soap containers in the shower like every other hotel, rather than asking each guest if they need single-use plastic tubes of shower gel? The three guests checking in ahead of me all requested them, as did I.

The hotel was just Very good in everything. Their service, hospitality and Especially the location, which was just excellent. The staffs were kind and very humble. I booked to stay in the hotel from the 3rd of January to the 6th of January 2023, and had to extend my stay to the 9th. Mr. Richard and Ms. Alice from the reception who were both Extremely kind and sorted out everything for me. Mr. Richard helped in each and every way, he was just Excellent. Ten Hill Place is the Kind for hotel that i would definitely go back to and definitely recommend to friends. Though not a 5 star but i felt like i was in one. Thank you Team Ten Hill Place.

The king size Beds were slightly smaller for a king size bed.

That the snack food at breakthrough on your website says til late stopped at 5pm. No face washers and no top sheet on bed but this is getting more frequent throughout the world although I see it as unhygienic. It's a lot more effort to remove the duvet cover if it gets washed after every use, which I hope it does than removing a top sheet. Other than these two things food was good, staff were fantastic and room was lovely.

I liked the bathtub especially the dryer of the towels and the temperature and the view of my room

I didn't like that they only give you the shampoo only if you asked for it from the front desk. I also didn't like the carpet whether inside the room or on the corridors as it gave a dirty appearance of the place. I would've liked wood flooring.

Location was very good, close to the University, staff was exceptional. Very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate any of the requests. Breakfast was awful: limited selection, food was tasteless, and presentation was quite bad. I skipped a number of breakfasts because was not able to force myself to eat it. Even coffee was awful. Definitely not up to the European standards and a 4star hotel standards. Bar was much more expensive than any other bar around the hotel. There was no table service at the bar. We had to go and get drinks ourselves. Room was great and very clean.

Food and the fact that simple amenities (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc) were not in the room. We had to go to the reception every time to request it. had never seen it before. Regrading food, I already commented. Simply awful.
