It was our 40th wedding Anniversary asked if possible for view of the castle from our room and we couldnt have got a better view it was stunning, had balloons and bottle of bubbly and fresh fruit and card waiting for us.Bed was large and comfy lovely to have a coffee pod machine as well as kettle fridge and well stocked tea, coffee milk and biscuits.Bathroom was large good size bath and large shower all nice and clean, cleaning staff done great job keeping room nice and tidy and stocked up.The time we were there the weather was hot so very grateful for air conditioning.Great location for seeing Edinburgh.Reception staff helpful and friendly. Wouldnt hesitate to return next time we visit Edinburgh.

The staff was very helpful, nice and available. The hotel has offers beautiful views of the city and the location of is absolutely perfect. We loved the view of the castle from the plaza in front of the hotel and how accessible the city was on foot. We really appreciated how soundproof the room was. The bathroom was really big and comfortable with both a shower and a tub. Finally, the breakfeast was very good and generous.
Our minor "issue" was with the room itself. There were visible stains on the decorative pillows and the carpeting was very uneven in our bedroom. The sofa bed was not the most comfortable bed to sleep in. Finally and most importantly, it was difficult to cool down the room without being able to open the window fully.

Location is excellent! Right across from W Bow/ Victoria Street, we loved the location. It was really convenient to get around and the staff were very responsive & accommodating. We arrived by car and left by train, the cab ride to the train station was really convenient as well (though it's a said to be a 10-12min walk to the station, it was cumbersome to walk with our luggages because of the uneven roads and slopes/ stairs).
The property is visibly old, the wallpaper is coming apart and there are signs of aging within the toilet as well, the wooden door frame was cracking already. The property also had a strange musky smell but it wasn't too bad either.

The room was extremely clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We thought the room was on the small size but just about adequate. The position of the hotel was very good - central.
We knew that there was a charge for parking the car in the hotels car park and we paid an additional £60 to secure this. However, we were told that even though we had paid for four days parking, if we used the car during that time, we weren’t guaranteed to be able to park the car there when we returned later. My husband is in his mid eighties and because of this policy, we had to resort to using public transport. We considered this practice most unfair.

The location was close to the castle for us yo attend the military tattoo. Room was nice staff very friendly and breakfast was okay
The room looked over back ally where the rubbish bins etc were. The carpet in the room was ripped and had pie es missing. The room was not well kept, needed a paint job and new carpets. The breakfast menu was not the best and staff took plates away before you finished if you got up to replenish your drink.

The location is amazing, you could not fault it. It was my friends birthday weekend and the hotel helped to set up a great birthday surprise in the hotel room. The room was basic but clean and big enough for a short stay. I would recommend this hotel if you wanted to stay in the center of everything!
I left an expensive shoe behind me in the room and contacted the hotel as soon as I realized. The staff were very unhelpful in locating my shoe and took to hanging up on me whenever I rang the hotel to enquire if they had found it. Never got my shoe back :-(

excellent location. Mercy and June extremely attentive on arrival. smashing customer service and ambassadors for APEX. warm welcome and nothing was too much bother. unlike the previous hotel we stayed at.
noisy outside due to scaffolding and location of pubs. but that can’t be helped.

Excellent location and price, great facilities and friendly staff with a beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle for our 2nd Floor room.
We were checked into a City Double Room and the initial room was very small and claustrophobic with a single window that was about 2ft wide, with a view of a grass bank and concrete wall. However after returning to reception to ask if we could be changed to another room due to the small size, reception were very understanding and friendly about this and changed us without question to a much bigger, better and more “open” room with a great view of the Castle.

Hotel was very well located. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Beds were super comfy. Bathroom is very large with a nice powerful shower. The view of the castle was amazing from our room. Would like to say a big thank you to the Manager Jordy for excellent customer service.
The room that we stayed in had a noisy extraction fan that wouldn't switch off. However the staff were very accommodating to switch us to a different room of the same standard. This issue didn't affect the trip. We would definitely recommend this hotel for a trip to Edinburgh

The hotel is located very centrally in Edinburgh close to all the sites to visit and in a very lively square with pubs, restaurants and even a market during Saturdays. The staff was nice, though we'd have appreciated some better recommendations on local sights and restaurants. We always have the internet for that nowadays though :) They were very accommodating with out luggage (we arrive early and left late)
The map provided by the hotel was not the best. Hopefully that could be improved for next visitors. The image of the hotel from the outside is unimpressive
