Beautiful grounds, nice big comfy rooms, well situated and the staff are next to none. Very helpful and friendly. This was our second stay at the hotel and we will be back again and again!

We had spent over £100 more than last year and got given a substantially smaller room. But after calling the reception the staff showed us a bigger room. Not really a complaint, just an observation. As stated above. The staff where absolutely brilliant with us.

The location of the hotel, room comfort and clearness, reception personnel were excellent.

We strongly do not recommend “half board”, since the selection, quality and taste of the food were really, really bad. Since we both love to cook our home meals, we appreciate the service when we travel. We never complained, but in Du Vin restaurant the Chef is not good ( “not good” is very kind expression). We stayed for 5 nights, tried to pick up anything edible from menu ( that is very limited), but after 4 dinners, we told the reception that we will eat outside of the hotel… The breakfast was OK, but, please do not sign up for half board with dinner. We would like to thank Ben, the Hotel Manager and the Reception ( Kaythleen and Esmeralda) who took our concern very seriously and adjusted our final payment for entire stay.

The staff was incredible. Every single person was so helpful and kind and accommodating; they bent over backwards to make sure we had what we needed. My husband got very sick on our trip and they made sure we felt at home and cared for. We were there during the Fringe and everything was very busy but they found a way to get me a table at the Bistro at the last minute when I couldn't find another place to eat. The food was terrific and I some great chats with the bartender/waitstaff as well.

The only things we remarked on were that we wanted more USB charging ports and hand/body lotion in the room. Pretty minor complaints!

Very nice interior of the hotel, the personnel was helpful and pleasant (except one lady in the court yard restaurant). Very good breakfast. SIze of the room was over our expectations.

The room was across the street from a bar which was a bit loud until at least 1am so I recommend to ask for a room with windows towards the courtyard. We had to keep our windows closed to muffle the noise. Also there was a lack of electricity sockets. The was a floor lamp but we couldn’t switch it on because there was no socket for it. The bathroom had no storage cabinet/shelf which we could use for our personal toiletries.

Wonderful service, charming rooms, green cleaning option, extensive breakfast, central location in old town close to castle. Most of all, customer service at front desk and restaurant was friendly and helpful. I forgot to buy stamps and mail postcards and as we were checking out, the front desk clerk offered to not only mail the cards, but to also get the stamps for us! Breakfast is a full cold buffet and hot dishes to order. Restaurant is French for dinner and was great. Fun, innovative cocktails. We will definitely search out the Hotel Du Vin name when we travel and any time we are back in Edinburgh, we will stay here!

There was nothing negative about this property.

We had a splendid time in the Du Vin! The room was excellently decorated and equipped. Many small details and extras that make you feel they care. The bath tub located in an open space added a luxurious touch. the small porch... Staff was very friendly and helpful (thank you Alberto!) The hotel is located in the old town, right off the university of Edinburgh - lively and full of potential to be explored by foot.

We have nothing to add here. The only drawback of the central location is the lack of parking near the hotel. There is a paid parking lot about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We have managed to find parking on the street (it was a Sunday) but this an expensive solution. Another option is to park in the outskirts and enter by public transport / Taxi. Anyway, this was the only difficulty that we had to face in the Du Vin.

The main purpose of our stay was to attend the Edinburgh tattoo & see some edfringe shows, so the location for this was perfect. Our room was fantastic with a huge shower & separate roll top bath & a really large comfy bed.

The hot breakfast wasn’t the best, my husband had fried eggs which were not cooked well & I asked for soft boiled eggs & gluten free toast, the eggs were hard & the toast was cold. I feel that a professional breakfast chef should not get the basics of egg preparation wrong. On the plus side the cold breakfast & choice of beverage was very good

We both really enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect as it's within a 5 minute minute walk of the New Town and literally round the corner from all the bars, restaurants and the Old Town. It's surprisingly quiet considering its next to a main road. The shower was amazing and probably the best I've ever experienced, the whole room was clean and tidy and the staff were really helpful and efficient. We slept well during our 2 night stay, no noises from traffic, no loud people, no slamming of doors as we've experienced in previous hotels. Thoroughly recommend!

My only small complaint would be the mattress was slightly too hard....but that's personal preference. Other than that... perfect!

Everything. The staff were exceptional. Very freindly and professional. They made us most welcome and could not have been nicer. Steve & Mirrin/Mirjam escpecially were fantastic. They made us laugh and were super helpful. We could not have had a more perfect stay. You guys went the extra mile for us . Plus the hotel is lovely. Its a cool building and all the facilities are excellent. Plus the Restaurant manager chap with the Beard was excellent. Genuine and Authentic service. We will be going back soon!

Liked everything. Cannot find a single thing to complain about.

Arrived late and staff very helpful to provide us with room service meal and brought in extra chair. Quiet room overlooking courtyard. Excellent location and able to walk to many attractions including hop on / off buses. Did not use restaurant nor whisky bar - so cannot comment. Overall ambience of its previous history as an asylum gave it a quirky, but interesting feel.

Smallish room - but normal for Edinburgh. Windows of other courtyard rooms could view room - so needed to keep blinds down - but not a big issue.
