The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, we were always greeted and offered assistance making us feel very welcome and comfortable - they were also available 24 hours! The hotel also had excellent accessibility/disabled facilities (ground floor with disability accommodated bathrooms - toilet, bath and shower accommodated with wet room). The location was great, right near the meadows and the city centre but not in a busy noisy area.

The only complaint is when we returned to hotel about 11.30pm we went for a drink at bar and it took 15min to be served. Your bartender did not seem to have grasp of the till. But to be fair to him he was getting a difficult time from guests of which he handled well. Not really a major complaint

Location of the hotel is good, and there is no shortage of shops and restaurants within walking distance. They partner with a car park close to Edinburgh Castle that is a little ways to walk. Check-in was easy and the staff is lovely. There is an entrance to the hotel that faces the street but you have to be buzzed in. Another entrance is around the corner and much easier to access. Our rooms fit the needs of our family.

The only concern was the sofa bed in one of our rooms. The mattress was very thin and the frame creaked all night when my daughter shifted positions. We tried to use pillows to buffer the thinness and it helped a little. This was a minor concern and did not impede our trip.

The room was quit large and the bed was comfortable. The location was a short walk from all the attractions we came to see. The breakfast was fast and delicious. The coffee machines worked great as well. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with all arrangements we asked for and to get us fresh towels when we requested.

There was no AC and the weather was unusually warm for Edinburgh. The window was locked open but not open enough to cool the room. However, the two fans provided did make it possible to get a good nights sleep.

The location was great. Breakfast was excellent. Best coffee anywhere in Europe! I wish I could remember her name, but the most helpful and friendly person on their staff was a young blonde girl from Cape Town, South Africa. She made our stay even better and went above and beyond.

Great location very close to grassmarket and the castle, very spatious room. We asked for a third bed for our kid so booked a room with a double bed plus sofa bed: we got a room with a separate “sitting room” where the sofa bed was. Our daughter loved it!

I liked the location of the hotel , the bed was amazing , the mattress perfect for a good sleep ,very clean room .Very hot water when you take a shower .The room was cleaned every day !!!! The staff very nice .near the hotel there is a small Italian restaurant Picollino...with very good food and very nice staff ...Highly recomand

I like at least to had the possibility to open the window in the room ...Also a vent system in the bathroom will be useful as in the first day the fire alarm started due to the steam from the bathroom ...

Excellent hotel located very close to the main streets of the city, but located in a silent street. The hotel looked very old, but the facilities were modern, so that made a very good combination. The staff were friendly and cheerful. The breakfast was perfect with many options for everybody. I would definitely recommend the hotel and would chose again when I return to Edimburgh.

Since it was cold outside, I doesn't really bother me, but the absence of air conditioner or a minibar would probably be an issue in the summer.

Hotel location is excellent. Just walk down the huge flight of steps and you are in the old Town. Up the flight of steps on opposite side of road and you are at the Castle and top end of the Royal Mile. Room was comfortable, clean and very quiet. Breakfast was good. Recommend taking the Mercat city tour. We did the adults only after dark ghost tour, but they do others and accommodate from 5yrs upwards on all other tours.

The Hotel front door intercom was not always the best. On two occasions we had to go down the side road and in the back carpark entrance.

Me and my partner stayed on the ground floor. When entering the room we wasn’t blown away but we immediately felt comfortable. Comfort is a important so that was a big tick for us. There was some parts of the room which needed a bit more detail when cleaning but wasn’t a major issue. The room had everything you could ask for when it comes to facilities although the hairdryer was dated and needed a upgrade. Location was perfect, no need for transport. Staff were great and even topped up on supplies for us, was a good feeling when coming back from our day outs. Wifi was perfect, easy to join, no need to use email to sign in hassle’s. We stayed for 2 nights but would be happy enough to stay longer. Would recommend.
