It was the perfect location to get to the bus station next morning for tour. The night reception was friendly and kind, offering to carry one of my bags up to my room. Morning reception was also friendly, offering to hold my bags while I picked up breakfast to go. My room was just enough space for a person with little small luggage for a night or so depending on needs. The ceiling was high and made it seem bigger. Nicely decorated. Was nice to use Prime on tv without using my own account.

The large window had a handle that was easy to turn but it wouldn’t seem to close all the way so I had road noise and the smell of cigarettes. The curtains also didn’t seem to close so I had some privacy concerns. I couldn’t get the shower to heat up despite getting it to turn fully down. The hotel was a bit hard to find at night (not sure if the blue illumination was typical).

Location was great, close to everything we needed with good transport links, staff were fantastic and very helpful which made our stay enjoyable

Room was the ‘cosy room’ which was nice but small for what we paid, bathroom/wet room was big but the sink was too small if you only wanted a wash and the hot water wasn’t hot, heated towel rail was in the shower with only a curtain to protect your towel, so for a disabled person who needs to keep warm with a warm towel, it could get wet easily if the curtain got pulled back. There wasn’t anywhere to put clothes like underwear, socks, t-shirts and was limited space to hang things up so kept clothes in suitcase. Crack in the tile where the seat is in shower. Very warm in room but too loud if window was open and fan was noisy. Not enough information in room re hotel facilities have to ask at reception, not a reflection on staff but on the hotel management

The location, cleanliness, and staff were incredible. They were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They gave us a free upgrade and bottle of bubbly for my birthday. Couldn't fault them at all. We had a very happy stay there and would return.

The room was warm, and there was no fan or aircon or window that would open, so it made it slightly uncomfortable. I guess we could have asked for a fan? Also, there was wrong information in the room re the restaurant being closed, which made us go out and look for food on my birthday morning when we'd have liked to have relaxed. Staff did apologise and say thanks for pointing it out, but obviously, it didn't help us after the event. Everything else was great! Bed is slightly uncomfortable but not terrible and room just slightly dated but view made up for it. Lovely bathroom too. Staff exceeded my expectations re helpfulness and friendliness. Have not said accommodation exceeded my expectations due to the above although much did like the sea view and decor too as well as location.

I have never stayed anywhere where the staff were so good. They were friendly and chatty while always remaining professional. When I had an issue, they listened carefully and fixed it promptly. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Edinburgh on foot or by tram and bus. It is spotlessly clean, the room was well equipped and a lovely breakfast was available at a very reasonable price.

Oh dear, a fantastic stay was let down by the quality of the mattresses. I had booked a single room but the mattress on the bed was sagging and unsupportive. When I complained, I was promptly moved to double room where the mattress was a little better but had two visible troughs where previous occupants had slept. Everything else was so good that it’s a shame this marred my stay.

Location near to main tourist sites, train and bus station; comfortable updated bedroom with huge modern bathroom (wheelchair accessible); hotel has a ground floor lounge and bar for hanging out. (Though we did not get a chance to try it) It’s close to many shops (convenience store around the corner) and restaurants (local pubs to vegan cafe to chains.) Seems a well run place, excellent staff at the reception who stored our bags, organized a taxi, gave advice

Only stairs, no elevator; no restaurant on site. Lots of private events mean the Terrace was not available. The price seemed a bit high for what you get but I think that’s the nature of the destination and day (Friday) and season (summer).

Stylish hotel very well situated for the centre of town. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

1)We had a first floor suite. The flaw was that the bathroom was sectioned off from the room, but there was no door. All activities in the bathroom were clearly heard in the bedroom and we were not comfortable with that! 2)The website offered “Free on site self parking”. which is why I booked this hotel. This was not the case, and it turned out that it was not an official website, but who is to know? I was pretty grumpy about this, but the staff remained calm and helpful! There are two large car parks nearby at £24 a day. However, hotel does have an arrangement giving 40% discount at these car parks. I only discovered this by chance, chatting to the barmaid over a nightcap! She immediately gave us a ticket enabling us to get the discount. So that turned out well.

Great hotel, in an excellent location close to the centre of Edinburgh. The single room I stayed in whilst small, had everything I needed, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were excellent, and went out of their way to ensure my stay was enjoyable. nothing too much trouble and they made me feel very welcome. Every element of this review gets 5 stars from me!

Nothing, I liked everything. I had a bit of technical issue with my TV which was quickly and without fuss rectified. The hotel staff were very apologetic and gave me a complimentary glass of wine as I waited for the issue to be fixed.

The room was amazing and very very spacious. Very nicely decorated and very clean! We were very warmly welcomed by staff and provided drinks while we waited for our room to be ready ( we arrived early)

At this level it’s just some little details. The hotel didn’t have clear signs outside showing the name as the flags were all rolled up and not visible. I would have expected much better tea trays with higher quality product and also better products for the bathroom. In a room of this grandeur a decent cup of coffee when waking up would be great. Some maintenance issues in the room that we reported.

Staff were excellent and very friendly. Room was a great size and as it was to the back of the hotel it was quiet at night. The hotel is very well placed for shopping, food, tourist attractions etc.

Only food available was continental breakfast which was a bit disappointing. If the restaurant is not going to be opening until 2023 might be worth thinking about doing some type of deal with local takeaways/restaurants in the meantime. Guests could place an order via reception and then have their food in the bar area? We were aware that the hotel didn't have a lift and we were fine with this but it certainly was quite a climb! 😃

Loved the location, the staff was absolutely marvelous, kind, helpful and efficient. The breakfast was complete with various choices.

A 4 star hotel without an elevator in 2023. The stairways were so narrow that only one person at a time could use them. Three flights of stairs and three corridors to get to the smallest room I’ve ever paid over $200 a night to sleep in. There was room for only one night stand a one chair. I couldn’t modify the room temperature. It was centralized by the hotel.
