Location was good - 2-3mins walk from Edinburgh Waverly. The hotel apartment is modern, clean and luxurious looking. Kitchen in the apartment is well stocked with cutlery, tableware and even cooking utensils - we didn’t cook, but it was nice to have. We extended our stay by a night and stayed in 2 types of apartments. First, “Deluxe apartment with balcony” - was very spacious, clean, comfortable and sound proof - perfect for a couple or 2 adults .. balcony was a nice touch, made the place feel very open. And the 2nd apartment was a “luxury one bedroom with bed alcove” - this was clean & modern too, but I wouldn’t recommend paying extra for the bed alcove apartments as the space is quite squeezed to fit in 2 bedrooms/2 bathroom. We had fresh breakfast everyday with amazing service (we paid for the breakfast included in room booking - go for this if you plan to eat in the hotel, otherwise it’s quite pricey if you pay a la carte). Overall Service is amazing - they have front desk staff who are quick to respond to queries, help bring up any deliveries to the apartment door, and just generally very kind, nice & sweet.

No way to stream anything on TV - no smart tv, no hdmi cable, no Chromecast - basically TVs were pretty useless, unless you want to watch broadcast tv. Modern hotels should minimally have smart TV. Breakfast options are limited (though whatever they have is very delicious) - so if you’re staying beyond 2-3 days, you could get bored. In the “one bedroom apartment with bed alcove” - one of the windows did not shut close, so we had cold wind blowing in the whole night (it was end November so pretty chilly outside). And the dryer (washer dryer) was broken. For the amount of money we paid for this place, I expect maintenance to be better!

Joe and her team on Reception couldn`t do enough for us in terms of a warm welcome and providing quality information on the hotel facilities as well as surrounding area facilities and services we had intimated an interest in. Most of our itinerary was already booked in advance (Christmas meal and drinks at the Dome), we did however partake of breakfast at the Register club & drinks at Lady Libertine and would highly recommend. Location is perfect for exploring Edinburgh, attractions, shops, bars and restaurants. Our room was well equipped and spotlessly clean.

Would have liked more advance information on room type, layout etc.......we would have preferred to have had a bath in room though shower was powerful and no issues with it.

The staff were really friendly and always greeted us with a big smile and wave whenever we entered the hotel, also very informative at check in. The hotel staff were kind enough to check us in early and also store our bags upon check out. The bed was very comfy and the room came with everything you'd need in an aparthotel type room. The location was brilliant, right next to a tram line and near a major station so easy to get to and from the airport and close proximity to the Old Town and New Town of Edinburgh. The hotel offers a great spot for dinner with Hawksmoor located in the lobby, we didn't eat here but is a great option to have a brilliant steak and not have to leave the building!

Given an accessible room when booked a normal room, not personally an issue for me however my partner would've rather a normal bathroom, wasn't enough of an issue to change rooms. Also one of the lifts were broken and the other seemed very slow, so we used the steps to get to our room.

Joy was extremely helpful and welcoming to us once we walked in the door. She escorted us to our room as it was a bit complicated to get to with the way the building is set up, but it wasn't too difficult to figure out after. Our room was very clean and had many features and excellent tea and milk. Comfy bed and pillows. Even their shampoo, conditioner, and lotion was good quality. Loved the smell of it. Beautiful interior couch and table as well.

The drain for the bath was a bit slow or backed up, but everything else was in good shape. The location nearby Waverly station was a huge perk.

Location was excellent, loved the room it had a bed for us and a split level bed for our daughter. The apartment had a excelllent kitchen and washing machine. Very quiet.too. Windows opened so we could have fresh air. A/c available too. Lovely cleaning staff and real milk in fridge for tea.

Parking next door with discount but still not in building, we arrived 1 hr early .. ie 2pm and they would not give us the room saying that confirmed book in was 3pm. Seemed extreme thought they did store our bags.

1. The location: Super close to everything. Walking distance to main attractions. Near christmas market as well! There is tram infront of the hotel. 2. Spacious room, Love the layout! We used the bose speaker day and night. Dancing the night away with my husband. Stayed on 3rd floor. We got room upgrade. A trip to remember ❤️ 3. I like the attentiveness of the staff. I commend the housekeeping and reception staff for assuring all our needs our meet. Our stay is exceptional!! So grateful to all Cheval team for giving us the best holiday in Edinburgh. ❤️ Special mention to Ms. Joy for going above and beyond for guest like us. You are a gem in the team.

Lightning - But it’s okay. Adds romantic vibe

My husband, daughter and I stayed at Cheval for a couple of days end of August. The hotel was in a great location and walking distance to John Lewis (very nice department store), coffee shops, and fantastic restaurants (I highly recommend Dishoom (Indian). But what made Cheval fantastic was their customer service. Greg, the hotel porter, was simply the best! He was so super helpful, always cheerful, and even helped us cram in luggage and shopping items we purchased for our daughter's university move in our smaller than expected rental car. We loved Greg! And Rahim at the front desk was wonderful, helpful, always cheery, and always had good recommendations of places and restaurants to go to. If we are in Edinburgh again, we would definitely stay at Cheval again.

Nothing!

We loved the flexibility of schedules, the shower, the practicality of not needing a room key. Great locking system and of course the classic beauty of the hotel and the location.

The bed could be firmer and the breakfast was extremely delayed. We realized that the staff hadn't even sent the coffee order after a long time. We saw them sending the order after doing something not so urgent. Unfortunately we couldn’t wait it and was needed to cancel it.

Impressive and spacious conversion in the historic building. The apartment had a penthouse feel with a balcony and a tint glimpse of Arthur's Seat. Centrally located by St Andre's square and the tram stop.

Some issues with the heating thermostats but staff were very attentive. It's great to have some outdoor space, but the view was rather limited.
