Breakfast fine once we found which floor it was on

An awful lot of money has been spent on this hotel including the rooms. The design of the room was not great. The opaque glass on the shower and toilet is no good , it does not feel private. The door of the toilet opens into the room and more than a silhouette can be seen through the doors. The shower door hinges out spreading water as is does and you cannot put a bathroom mat there because of the arch of the door opening. Why in what was a beautiful room put a worn style carpet down the look of which will soon look dated and more worn. All the staff extremely helpful and polite

God where can I start.. from the cleanliness of the hotel, to the rooms, restaurants and facilities, and to the amazing top notch customer service, all I have to say is that this hotel is exceptional! Me and my partner loved the whole experience and can agree that it’s the best service we have ever had at a hotel. Thank you to all the hardworking caring staff, for taking care of us and making us feel valued and super comfortable throughout the stay. We had the room decorated beyond our expectations and had welcome drinks which made us feel very special celebrating Valentine’s Day. We stayed at the one of the suites and oh my god, the pictures do not do enough justice of the beauty of room! I was totally in love! This hotel is located right at the centre, close to everything you could want when visiting Edinburgh. I have no bad words, definitely will be back again. Thank you so much once again

Nice, comfortable rooms (slept so good). Very well appointed amenities. Space is a little tight in standard King room and a bathtub would’ve been nice. Next time we may try the Suites. The W Lounge was excellent, with spectacular views. We had breakfast in the SushiSamba which was amazing. I’m sure an excellent spot for dinner. The rooftop deck is also amazing and offers even more beautiful views. It gets windy up there, however. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

Rooms in separate building and balconies not very useful.

I loved how they made you feel welcomed and important the moment you walk through the doors for check-in. Loved the decor. it's very open and modern with a twist. The refreshment offer on arrival is lovely. The rooms are beautiful, exceptionally clean, and spacious. The bed is absolutely life. It's like a cloud. The complementary cocktails in our room and truffles were delightful. SAMBASUSHI is my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. The ambience, the food, and staff are top of their game. Cocktails were lovely. Everything was amazing. You can't fault the W. It's very hard to say bad things about The W. I love staying with them! I have already booked my next stay!

I didn't like the price of booking the spa. The spa is absolutely gorgeous. Private bookings are essential. I thought since we were already paying high prices for the hotel and restaurant, the spa was a bit pricey for 60 minutes. I thought the spa could add a plunge pool or something similar. That is the only thing missing with the beautiful spa. You have everything else, just not an area to do cold therapy.

From the start we were welcomed with warm smiles and made to feel comfortable. Check in was smooth and we were able to get into our room prior to official check in time. Which was perfect after an early flight. We even got a lovely upgrade as it was my Partner's 40th birthday. Room itself was gorgeous with a personal note and some truffles as a birthday welcome. Bed was very comfy. Coffee and tea facilities etc all you need.

Just a couple of small things. We weren't offered an option of adding breakfast to our stay...in fact it wasn't really mentioned which I found strange when the burns night dinner was even encouraged at check in. Also the lack of privacy between the bed/chill out area and toilet/shower is a bit unnerving. Even for a couple who are very comfortable with each other. Overall didn't impact our stay though and we had a wonderfully comfortable trip.

The hotel was new, modern, fresh and vibrant … the rooms were small but well laid out and had all facilities you needed … breakfast was good.

It's a long way from check in to your rooms, I asked for a phone charger whilst waiting In reception and there were none… there are however chargers in your room in case you forget one… the cable in a box that's obviously chargeable and then to delight the adapter in another box again changeable. Would be so bad if the sockets in reception had usb plugs in them, but they don't so don't forget your phone charger! Also still not easy to get to with the unfinished construction but sure will be ok when completed

Very comfortable beds and good sound insulation from other guests and traffic noise. The roof top bar was nice, but poorly provisioned with chairs etc.

The layout of the hotel is not optimum. There is one central building, where reception and food/bar venues are located,. This includes a bridge into the St James shopping mall (which was not always open). But our room was on the eigth (actually, a fourth) floor in another. So often have to make long journeys through poorly signed passageways and two elevators in order to reach the bars.

Spectacular location and a spectacular building. It is to Edinburgh what the pyramid is to the Louvre. You can see the swirl of the hotel from everywhere. The restaurants were like being in a cloud. The staff was absolutely the best you could ask for. Whomever is managing the place is doing a crackerjack job.

Could have used a toilet brush in the loo and the timing of the turndown service was inconsistent, but then who even does turndowns now days?

Great location. Beds were super comfortable as always with the W. Staff were friendly and you could tell they love they’re jobs. Alexander at front doors was especially efficient and helpful regarding our queries from the best places to hang out to accompanying us personally to obtain something from our car.

That the top deck/ roof top weren’t open especially with that fantastic view but understandable as it was pretty windy. But that’s it.

The staff are amazing! Beautiful hotel in a great location. Near the castle, palace, new and old cities. They helped me book all of the places I wanted to visit.

I had a bad service experience at Sushi Samba. They were very apologetic. Also, I got stuck in the elevator. Although about 20 minutes/brief, it was the day I was checking out. Very stressful.
