The staff are excellent and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Their customer focus was a definite highlight of our stay. Rooms are beautiful and lots of thought has gone into design. We loved the doggy bed, bowl, treat and ball that were in the room. Breakfasts were delicious and evening meals are also very good but best to book as it gets busy at the weekends. Would recommend and definitely return. It's inspired us to try other pubs they have in their chain. Thank you!

The rooms were on the warm side (although fans are provided) and a bit dark. Noise travelled from the room above so it was disturbing at times so we'd recommend staying in the one level rooms if that bothers you. However, the positives far outweighed any negatives.

BREAKFAST WAS OUTSTANDING. EXCELLENT VALUE AND QUALITY. ROOM WAS BEAUTIFUL AND LCOATION OF PROPERTY WAS SUPER AND CL TO RACE COURSE

DESPITE CHECKING BEFORE ARRIVAL AND ASKING FOR ACCESS TO ANY ROOM IN ORDER TO CHANGE INTO CLOTHES BEFORE TRAVELLING TO RACECOURSE - AND BEING TOLD THAT WOULD BE POSSIBLE, ON ARRIVAL WE WERE INFORMED THAT ROOMS WERE NOT READY AND WE COULD NOT JUST POP IN TO ANY UNCLEANED ROOM TO USE AS A CHANGE ROOM. MYSELF AND ANOTHER LADY WERE TOLD TO USE THE PUBLIC TOILET -WHICH IS RATHER SMALL. CLEANERS WERE COMING IN AND OUT - THE ROOMS WERE NOT OCCUPIED BUT NOT OFFER WAS MADE. ALL A BIT UNPLEASANT TRYING TO UNDRESS IN A SMALL WC CUBICLE. PERHAPS IN FUTURE IF GUESTS ARRIVE AT 12MD ONE ROOM COULD BE JUST STRIPPED AND READY FOR LADIES....WOULD BE A NICE TOUCH

Situated in a small, quiet and picturesque village. The rooms were set at the end of a large carpark - luckily we had good weather otherwise you’d need an umbrella! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean with good quality fitments. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast and in the restaurant - good quality so worth the price.

There was only a small window, hence the room was quite dark

Beautiful location and accommodation. If you like rustic looking and original features, this is the place for you. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. We had lunch upon arrival that was very good and morning breakfast, local sourced products that were amazing. Our room was lovely again with the rustic look. Bed was massive and very comfortable. Very quiet setting that was nice. We got a taxi to and from the race course at a cost of £15 each way so not too overpriced. Highly recommend this property.

Creaking from floor above and wasps (but it is that time of year)

Beautiful location, we did the Blackbird walk and we really enjoyed it. Very well decorated and exceptionally comfortable room with gorgeous views, lovely bathroom and great toiletries which smelled divine. We also had a coffee machine, fan, and I think there was an hairdryer in one of the drawers. There were other guests staying in the barn where the room was but we didn’t hear them at all so the soundproofing must be on point. We really enjoyed our stay and I have already recommended to friends. Great food in the pub too!!

The only thing I can think of is we would have appreciated a small fridge just to keep water cold as it was a particularly hot day when we stayed, and the towel rail was heated and we weren’t sure how to turn it off (this could easily have been user error). Neither of these detracted from our lovely stay.

A very comfortable room, clean, modern and sumptuous bathroom. Restaurant and breakfast were very good. Friendly staff. Detail: we are backpacking, after a long day hiking one cannot have enough hooks to hang clothes on; we have never seen so many hooks. Location is very beautiful, near e.g. the Stour Valley Path and the unique "Devil's Dyke" footpath.

Can't think of anything.

The accommodation in the separate lodge was really nice and quiet. The food was good too.

We booked a two night stay on a Sunday and Monday. No one informed us that the pub was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so our evening meal on the Monday and breakfast on Tuesday had to be eaten elsewhere. This was achieved but was not ideal and we probably would not have stayed here if we had known. That said, our overall stay was very good and I understand that the pub will be open on Monday and Tuesdays from some time on in May.

Breakfast was included in the price, but looked expensive as a separate item. However, it was excellent. Table service, not the usual buffet. Good portions and very tasty. We had the continental with toast to follow, but we could have had anything from the extensive menu. Personal service from the manager - he drove us to the next village, as taxis were scarce.

Shower tiles could do with the mould cleaning from the grout.

Stayed here as prices around North Cambridge had sky rocketted for some reason. About 20min drive from Science Park/Milton which was fine. Room was wonderful, really nicely done. Comfy and everything you need including free Wifi, TV, tea/coffee/water. Bathroom/shower was great. Dinner in the restaurant was nice - not cheap but in line with most other pubs around. Breakfast was great too. I would definitely stay again.

The bar, the restaurant, the food & the room & the location.

I slipped in the walk in shower as there was no mat. I’m still in pain after 2 days. Reported it when checking out & was told you can have one if you request it. Suggested they should be in the rooms for people to choose if they use it or not. It wasn’t written down anywhere that shower mats provided if requested. IF YOU STAY REQUEST A SHOWER MAT!
