Breakfast was excellent with a choice off a menu freshly cooked

Getting access to the front door requires you have a phone with text functions - no one is readily available to answer the door or walk thru issues. You get text a code to open the outside front door using a padlock type system - once inside you have to repeat to get another key for the room. Highly suggest the owners consider having an electric code lock for the outside door making it not necessary to have a physical key. Instructions should be updated and parking is not always available in a designated space ( 3 cars), parking is very limited. The building has history links to the area and the restoration is superbly done.

The room and the toilet were big The breakfast is great Air conditioning was a great add as the weather was so hot I didn’t mind the decor but my sister (artistic) loved it I think the room has everything you need for a long or short stays. There is an iron , coffee machine, good lighting, Wi-Fi All types of restaurants around the hotel. I am vegan and found a lot of options Close to the bus station

It’s not the property but it get noisy in the morning because of the outside birds sounds There is no reception, even though the check in process was great, there is no one to ask any question directly No luggage storage No lift There are two doors closed with keys provided at check in but We felt we were alone in the hotel during night as there is no reception or security. No one cleaned/ put more refreshments in the room during our two nights stay although we put the required sign on the door

Small things really. We were unaware that breakfast was included and by the time we found out it was too late. Secondly (and I realise this sounds harsh to some) but the shower head and mirrors must have put up by someone very small! It's weird when hotels are set up only for people under 5'8". Finally, it's annoying to put a coffee machine in your room with no pods for it

Oddly, all the reviews for Charter House seem to be a mixed bag. I can only assume the 1 or 2 starred reviews were either from a while back, or from those with unattainably high standards? Either way, the 'uncleanliness' and 'attitudes' were nowhere to be seen- this was a great stay. Spacious and accommodating rooms, great location, friendly staff, good food- true enough, the reception and staff are over the road in the sister hotel, but this was far from an issue, and as for the noise at night... Well, it's the centre of town, so it would be naïve to assume you wouldn't be able to hear the nightlife. Again, this out-of-control point hardly warents a 'poor' review. Me and my partner thought highly of it, so my advice to others would be to disregard any of these Facebook or TripAdvisor reviews, and book yourself in.

The staff were very helpful especially Sim. I liked the decor of the room. Great to have Netflix. Nice rain shower. Lovely bright breakfast room and great freshly made breakfasts.

The air-conditioning was dripping. From the marks on the wall this isn't a new issue. There was a bucket with water in it under the Unit when we arrived. It wasn't fixed while we were there. Sim did her best to get it sorted and did what she could providing towels to dampen the noise of the drips. The outside door was open every night we came back. You needed to actively close it on leaving or entering which people weren't aware of. As there were no staff on overnight this could be a safety issue. One bed was really comfortable while the other wasn't. There was quite a difference.

It was nice to arrive and stay in a room that actually looked like the one I had seen in the pictures. Breakfast was amazing and the staff really lovely and helpful. Location was perfect.

It was interesting to see how there was no one to welcome us but their way worked for us so no complaints here! Just different to the norm!

Great breakfast and friendly staff

Management of this chain of hotels make it really difficult to make pre-arrival equiries with the hotel you are staying at by phone or email. Never got a reply to my query but thankfully things were OK thanks to the helpful front of house staff.

The lady at breakfast was very helpful and professional. She took our order nicely and brought everything very quickly. Despite different kind of breakfst requests she was happy to help and provided everything..... Really will stay the same place again...

The hotel is nice and is brilliantly situated for exploring the island. The room was nice although the pillows were poor and should be binned. Breakfast very good, wifi good.

The pillows! Also the hotel needs to update it's information it is frustrating to read that a hotel can't make the bed because of restrictions which haven't been in place for a year.

Really pretty room, it is like staying in a boutique hotel. Freshly prepared breakfast was included. Very friendly staff too. good location in Newport and free parking. we had the family room which was pretty big in size.

Can get noisy at night.
