Great location Lunch was good

Parking not close The lift was not functioning to our floor and was not fixed throughout our stay - The bedrooms were not cleaned at all although it was offered at around 4PM when we had returned and were having a nap. We were not given access to the roof top bar and the barman was quite rude / blunt about it too saying that you required a booking / it was full although our guests (walk in customers) had arrived 1 minute earlier and were happy sitting at a table. He’d then advised that service would be over 30 minutes wait - Probably best to keep to the facts and more importantly not give outside customers priority over Hotel paying guests - Not cool.

This is a hotel with great staff and a lovely atmosphere. The decor and furnishings are lovely making the stay at this hotel feel special but still comfortable and friendly. I would definitely return. The food was lovely and our King Suite with balcony on the 8th floor was really fantastic. We will return in the summer to thoroughly enjoy the skyline and the cathedral which is practically next door. No problems with lifts or wifi. I slept well as the bed was extremely comfortable.

I would have liked more milk in the room for drinks, please. The hotel is hard to find if you don't know Exeter and there is no hotel car park. We walked quite a long way with heavy bags in the pouring rain which was not a good start. There is a fiendish one-way system so make sure you plan a route carefully. A fan in the room would be nice.

The location of the hotel is superb, right in the City Centre. I booked a slightly more spacious / expensive room for my stay and it was very well equipped with beautiful shampoo, shower gel, hand & body lotion. The shower was excellent, both rainfall and handheld and the coffee machine, Nespresso was a real treat. Infact, the whole tea tree was beautiful. I was there for 5 nights and there was cleaning every day, with fresh towels if you wanted them. Super comfy bed and pillows, and good quality bed linen. The hotel has a distinct smell when you walk in - it was gorgeous! The staff are super lovely, although there is a lot of them, so didn't really get to know their names.

I booked the dinner, and B&B option and found this to be great for a single traveller. I do think the dinner could have been explained a little bit better. I'm not a desert person, so it wasn't too much of an issue, but when you book the dinner package you could avail of a 3 x course dinner every evening! I wasn't aware of this until the day before I left. The drinks are also pricy. £13 for a large glass of Pinot Gregio which is a little 'off the scale' and a large G&T was £15.50! There is however a Tesco just across the road, and there is a fridge in the room, so all was not lost! The decor in my bathroom did need a little bit of a touch up around the swivel mirror, but apart from that, this hotel does exactly what it says on the tin.

An amazing hotel in the heart of Exeter. My room was on the top floor with a stunning view of the cathedral. The room was beautifully designed with large panoramic windows, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The bed was just amazing - large and comfy. Will definitely recommend this hotel!

The room was freezing cold initially, but after I requested the temperature to be raised, it became warmer. However, it was still quite chilly in the morning. There were also some minor issues, such as a cut/slit on the bed, a leaking coffee machine, dirty walls in the bathroom, dirty bedsheets, and the absence of a hygiene kit (cotton pads, cotton swabs, etc.).

The room was very nicely decorated and we had a nice view of the cathedral. The bathroom was extremely clean - as was the bedroom - and we had a very comfortable sleep with no disturbances. The staff - including the hotel manager - were very helpful and friendly when we asked for a demonstration for the air conditioning!

The service at breakfast was lacking. The staff were not fully awake! There were many empty tables and / or tables that had not been cleared and yet we were obliged to stand in line and wait for a table! Staff need to be much more 'on the ball' to get tables cleared fast and to ensure that guests don't wait in line to be shown to a table. In addition, cleaning materials should not be left on the bar, providing unsightly viewing at breakfast :( We ordered porridge and it was excellent. I am giving this 'negative' feedback because our stay was expensive and the hotel should have performed better in this area.

Room was lovely - very comfortable Great location

The bar areas were very untidy - lots of empty glasses on tables which was very unprofessional. Went to upstairs bar to be told no Malibu? No fresh orange so bar staff had to source from downstairs. Cocktail menu in lift but when went to bar no menu??? So bar staff had to show us on her phone. Very misleading on cocktails as sign outside indicated bogf but when asked only through the week and not Sunday? Left iPhone charger in room - messaged numerous times but only had one response “to look into it” - no further information? Disappointed as this was a birthday treat and didn’t feel like we were “looked after”

Great location Very stylish Liked the room Food good and tasty Reception staff very good

Couldn't get through on phone to book dinner - meant we had to eat early Wine at dinner not fridge cold we had to add ice Had cheese platter as dessert - no port at the bar to have with cheese Wait staff very young and so lacking in those extra skills you would expect - polite but not professional Breakfast good food- quick service , shame staff coats were just dumped on the side - didn't look good Again missed that professional/ guest service you expect . Staff were polite but just missing that something

I liked the common areas, the room and the breakfast. Staff were quite friendly and helpful. The "City View" in my original room turned out to be scaffolding on a building site. A member of staff checked rooms personally and I was given a room with a view of the Cathedral. While the area around the hotel has much to offer, the hotel itself is not directly available to taxis. While the taxi stand is not far it would be difficult for those with much luggag or mobility issues. Booking.com should emphasize this.

The restaurant,Colsons, offered a very limited menu and certainly nothing like that posted on the website. That said, the food I had was good and the staff were all very accomodating and friendly but seemed inexperienced

Interesting property which is tastefully converted from a department store to a hotel. High end fittings and fixtures, spacious room and very good bathroom. The staff are friendly and helpful.

A word of warning about the location of the hotel. It's in a fully pedestrian zone so you can't drive up to it...you have to park in a multistorey around 7-10 mins away and then drag your baggage to the hotel. And those car parks are both annoying and expensive. Once you're in the hotel, it's very central, but they really need a solution to help you get your baggage to the hotel (maybe they need a bellman equipped with a golf cart). To be fair, the website is very clear about the access/distance thing. Also - to enjoy afternoon tea in the restaurant, you needed to book a day in advance. That's not cool. A guest doesn't know a day in advance if they would like to have afternoon tea in the hotel.
