Super choices for breakfast, including fresh fruit and a full English. A peaceful location with no noise other than the birds in the garden. Comfy bed in a well appointed room that looked straight out onto the back garden. Small fridge, microwave and kettle with a very large choice of teas. Great night's sleep and we made sure to take advantage of the direct access to the garden.

We genuinely couldn't criticise a thing.

Melrose Cottage was in a very quiet road in Goring, well-placed for the station, the village and the Ridgeway. The garden was superb with tables and chairs dotted around in little corners amongst the flowers and vegetables. We made ourselves a cup of tea when we arrived and sat in the garden watching the red kites overhead. The room was well equipped and spotlessly clean and Rose made us feel at home. Great breakfast choice.

Nothing I didn't like except en suite is always preferable. However there was no problem as only one other person staying and bathroom next to room. Would certainly stay here again.

We needed an overnight stay in Goring as we were attending a wedding in the area. Rose was very accomodating we were able to check in before the wedding. Our double room at the back of the house overlooking the garden was comfortable with a good ensuite shower room. Asked to make our choices the evening before and what time we would like breakfast it was freshly prepared and served with care. Thank you

Location was about a 10 minutes walk from the centre of Goring. We were on foot as walking the Thames Path. Breakfast was amazing and set us up really well for the next days walk. Everything very clean. Rose lent us a torch to walk back into Goring for dinner and also dried our coats or her air drier.

We couldn't find a hairdryer but that wasn't a big issue really.

We stayed for a wedding at the Swan at Streatly, it was a great location, only a couple minutes drive away. Rose was an excellent host, going above and beyond to help us. The breakfast was delicious, lots of options and a good amount of food. Nice, peaceful place and our room looked over a gorgeous backyard.

Melrose Cottage was a great place to stay whilst cycling King Alfred’s Way. I was able to securely store my bicycle in the garage. Location was great and I was able to conveniently walk into town and to the shop. Was nice having the ceiling fan in room to help keep it cool. Rose was very helpful and provided a lovely breakfast.

an excellent choice for cyclists - there is a safe place to keep the bikes and the landlady, Rose, has supplied toiletries so no need to carry heavy stuff. The location is quiet and peaceful - it’s an easy walk back into Goring for a meal in the evening..just enough to stretch out cycle-weary legs. The breakfast will set you up for the day - lovely fresh fruit and cooked breakfast options, as well as the ability to buy a packed lunch.

The place was so close of Basildon, our next destination. We didn't know when we were coming but Rose was so lovely and welcome us with a warm hello just as family. It's exactly how I felt there. At home and Rose was so helpful and nice !

Not a good wifi signal in the room but that's okay !

My short and sweet stay at Melrose Cottage was peaceful, calming and relaxing. I arrived from London in need of some r&r. From the moment I met lovely Rose, I was welcomed and felt at home. Rose went to great efforts to make me feel comfortable. From the little gestures of oat milk, dairy free actimel to the gluten free bread and cereal. My food intolerances were never a problem. The room was both homely and spacious. It was extremely clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable and the facilities were spot on. The en-suite shower room was hot and powerful. I really enjoyed the fresh berries and cooked breakfast which set me up nicely for a day of exploring by foot. The coffee was just how I like it. I enjoyed my chats with Rose too! A truly lovely host. Thank you, Rose. I hope everyone gets to experience your wonderful hospitality and warmth very soon.

That I couldn’t stay for longer!!

Melrose Cottage had a lovely home feeling, it was like no other B&B we've stayed in, I'd go as far as to say I felt more like a member of the family than just a paying guest. Rose is the perfect host.

There was nothing that we didn't like.
