The location of the Old Lamb is an area we know very well & close to where we were spending the 12th March. We had an early start so decided to stay in a hotel on the night of the 11th just in case?. The Old Lamb looks like it could be off a 'chocolate Box'. It is a pretty thatched building that if it could talk would keep you engrossed with tales from the previous centuries. I remember my grandparents, who lived nearby taking us in there when I was a kid. I was looking forward to, as I pictured in my head, sitting by the Old huge log fire & reminiscing. We arrived to find that the 'pub' is no longer a pub but a private home & the accommodation is at the back in a separate building. Breakfast is included & you eat that in the old bar area of the once pub. Free parking with plenty of space, our room was the last one available which was a twin room which isn't an issue & happy to have. The room is on the small size with small flat screen TV & kettle on a desk. The.bathroom with shower, sink & lots of clean towels. It was nice & clean. To hang clothes up there is some coat hooks with hangers on the.wall. it was pretty basic but it covered our needs & the peaceful location just right for a good night's sleep. The breakfast was very nice, I had toast scrambled egg & my husband a full fry up which he enjoyed, cereal & fruit juice etc are on a table for you to help yourself, tea & coffee is brought to you freshly made. Overall we had nothing to grumble about & why would we for a charge of only £65.00?.

Nothing.

Don`t over look this hidden gem, the owners have got it right here and could easily charge more. The Pictured thatch Pub is the owners property, but reception and breakfast are located here. the rooms are in a two storey block (similar to camponile type rooms) just behind with car parking available at no charge, some areas do charge. Rooms were well heated and comfy, and bed was double, not king or queen, but not an issue for us, as described and expected. tea / coffee facilities and en-suite included. great for over night or short stay and offer a lot for the space and size of rooms. The offer of cooked breakfast is available and a great range of cereals toast, and fruit juices, also included in the price, was an added bonus. Ideal for couples as a place to stay or as a base close to M4 junction a mile away, food is not served except breakfast, however there are a range of food shops and several other pubs and takeaways etc a few hundred yards away. one of best overnight stops in a long while. All staff friendly and attentive, and did not force themselves on you every few minutes.

we were fine for an overnight, but some may require storage of clothes if a longer stay, but the rooms govern what they can fit in, just bear in mind car is no more than 20 yards from rooms, so could store cases etc in car. No really a gripe more an observation.

It is good value for money and the location good with free parking. Breakfast was good. Obviously don't expect anything fancy with it was clean and simple

My only issue was the bed had a velour fabric headboard which was stained from the many people's heads resting against it I assume. I put the bath mat over the headboard to keep it away from my head. To be further the room itself was very clean, this needs replacing really as it's not hygienic

We found it easily, able to park at the property easily. The check in was quick and efficient and welcoming. The room was on the smaller side but adequate for the time we were staying, spotlessly clean and a very nice but small ensuite with soft towels. The beds (we had a twin room) were very comfortable as were the pillows. Bonus of able to open windows and leave them open as we were on an upper level. Very quiet location on the whole as it is right in the middle of what is a large village/small town. Breakfast was well catered and the lady was happy to prepare what we requested, good selection of everything and in a very pleasant dining room.

Nothing

Very quiet, no banging doors at night. Breakfast was plentiful and service was quick and polite. Room was adequate as we literally needed somewhere to sleep for one night.

Room was a bit cramped had we needed to use during the day, but was adequate for us for one night. Had we been staying longer would have liked a wardrobe and a little more space.

I found the hotel was very good.I haven't stayed there before and although the rooms are small, they have everything you need. The breakfast was very good. I will certainly stay there again.

I couldn't really say that there was anything that was bad . Yes, the rooms are small and if you had to stay for a few days that could be a problem.

This property was ideal for an overnight stop. Nice & clean, comfy beds, very good breakfast. Perhaps a decaf tea & coffee sachet & a few more little pots of milk on the tray would have been nice. A hairdryer would have been useful too. Otherwise no complaints!

There was nothing to dislike, just a couple of suggestions about decaf choices & a hairdryer.

Location: Easy walking distance to Theale station. Parking. Free and on site. Quiet. Great nights sleep. Value. Very good. Cleanliness. Spot on. Breakfast. Excellent. Staff. Pleasant and accommodating. It was ideal for a shortt stay where I just needed a bed for the night.

Nothing to dislike really. If you are looking for a place to take your wife for a romantic weekend, choose somewhere else. It is very functional, and does not pretend to be anything else.

Bed and pillows very comfy. Nice cooked breakfast in the morning in main 14th century building.

Bedrooms are in an old stable block at rear and are dated.. 80s style decor and furniture. Small rooms..when next refurbished it would be better to move walls for larger rooms.

The room , although basic, was very clean, tidy and had all the facilities I wanted whilst 'Mum sitting 'for a few days. Bed was very comfortable, slept very well and breakfast was very nice.. Not too far from the village centre and easy access to the M4.

Nothing really given the price asked and the location for my stay.
