Staff were really good especially on the coffee bar one particular member was very friendly to our dog , helped to calm her and have her water . My daughter liked the spa area. The outside area ours a good space to exercise the dog for toileting. The hotel was quiet and calm which suited my younger daughter. The beds were comfortable and a good size. The room was practical for an overnight stay.

There were pubic hairs on side of bath, although the rooms have been renovated it’s a bodge job, the toilet flushed intermittently and leaked from the push buttons, the shower stand fell to pieces when one lifted off the handset, the on off for the shower didn’t work properly so the pressure was poor .

The location was extremely convenient for us, just off Junction 23 on the southbound M6. The staff were really lovely and helpful, especially with our little dog. The beds were comfy and the room good and the bathroom had a great shower. The bar area was very nice and we were able to take our dog in there. The food from the restaurant in the evening was only adequate so we decided not to pay for breakfast. Although very close to the M6 you couldn't hear the road noise when the windows were closed. The grounds/parking areas were large and great for letting our dog run around. Most of all though it was the lovely staff that made the hotel and I would stay again.

The doors to the rooms seemed to have little or no sound proofing. Light came in all around and so did the noise from the other guests walking past.

The room was very comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful at the front desk. The bar is good with plenty of choice to drink and food available. The location is ideal being just outide of St Helens, it's very easy to get a taxi/UBER from the hotel into town.

We had upgraded the room to have an exra bed. The bed was int he room but was not made when we arrived. however upon leaving the hotel for the evening we mentioned this to the staff and when we returned later in the evening the bed was made up. The shower could do with upgrading, it's not particulary powerful. Maybe updating the bathroom suite as a whole (walk in shower instead of bath perhaps) would be a decent upgrade.

The hotel pool and sauna were fab. Room was clean. Restaurant staff Abbie and Jake were still very friendly despite running about trying to check people in,clear tables and take orders for food and drink. Think the hotel was understaffed. Hoping these 2 members of staff are valued. The menu was varied and food was delicious.

When checking in,the reception area was swamped with wedding guests and very loud disco music which made it very difficult to hear the receptionist speaking. Then when eating in the restaurant. It was still very noisy with music as hotel is open plan. Disappointed jacuzzi wasn't working.

Excellent breakfast, kind and always helpful staff, clean room. Warm welcome by the reception. Dogs allowed. The hotel is quiet big, suitable for groups or teams or celebrations. Close to M6. Nice for dogwalks around. Quite environment.

After finishing (n paying) the reservation on booking.com website, a very disturbing information: "pets not allowed exceptservice dogs" in the confirmation email!! You do not want to travel 1000 miles to read such message! Very hard to contact the hotel via booking.com message system, so that our native friends had to help us n contacted the hotel directly. We were ensured it's a dog friendly hotel for 100% and we are very welcome. The fake information comes from booking.com confirmation email - pls fix it! This made my arrival very stressful, but the hotel staff made us calm n happy.

We enjoyed our 14 days at the hotel because of the staff, who were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a home away from home. Many thanks to Louise, the manager who really looked after us, the breakfast staff members who greeted us warmly each morning and housekeeping staff members who were always made sure we were comfortable in our room. Fantastic breakfasts with excellent range of food freshly cooked.

We were very disappointed with the evening restaurant meals which were very expensive, badly cooked and very bland. Some of meals were like reheated supermarket meals. The nachos we had were dry, with very little cheese, sour cream and the cheese board had stale crackers. The restaurant let the hotel down badly.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. Being able to use the spa as a hotel guest was good. Rooms were clean with decent showers.

There were very few vegan options for breakfast. Apart from hash browns and mushrooms there was nothing hot available apart from porridge. Please consider getting plant-based sausage and bacon etc, even if it's done to order rather than being out on the self-service buffet. Dinner on the second night was very slow, over 45 minutes to wait for a nourish bowl with fried tofu.

The staff were professional and friendly. The breakfast and food was delicious and the service spot on as were the bar staff. Unfortunately I caught Covid half way through and was confined to my room but the staff were on call for my every need.

I asked for a quiet room and got room no 411, Annoyingly the generator revved up at 5am so I had to lay awake. I did get a change to room 127 which was peaceful but that experience was unnecessary

The gentleman at the reception Joel was outstanding in his level of care and service. He responded to my needs promptly and effectively. The other team member who was really exceptional was Abbie who brought me breakfast each morning, these two made my stay brilliant. I will add that the room and surrounding areas were very clean and tidy. Was impressed. The complimentary access to the gym, swimming pool and spa was a bonus. I really enjoyed my stay.

The mobile phone reception wasn't great at the hotel, l had to step outside the building to make and take calls. So not sure if this can be resolved by talking to mobile phone companies or doing something to enhance the reception.

We have been living out of a suitcase in the UK for the past 4 months and stayed in our fair share of hotels , 3 of which were Holiday Inns and Holiday Inn Haydock Wigan are TOPS , EXCEPTIONAL infact, it was my husbands 73rd birthday while there (5th November) and they greeted him with a bottle of champagne at breakfast also heaps of different room treats. A BIG shoutout to Jacqueline and manager Zoe THANK YOU SO MUCH for making our stay a memorable one, (this just recent stay was a return stay). Sincerely Lynette and Gary Stewart
