Thank you. The staff is per excellence. My birthday has been spectacular. Everyone went out of their way to make our day special. The food is excellent and locally sourced. We had the risotto rice 🍚 and the hacke fish with wild garlic. The breakfast has been so delicious too and the Tschibo Kaffee simply the best. The fire is so relaxing in the lobby and it's so easily accessible including the lovely cathedral. We feel relaxed, happy and we made great memories. Thank you staff and thank you to the Maître. Merci Dankeschön Kittos

The hotel is in a lovely location in the heart of Dornoch. It is a beautiful castle building with attractive garden. The staff were lovely - and very helpful including afterwards - sending me an item I had left in the room. The food choice in the restaurant was excellent - we had a great evening meal and breakfast.
Many of the rooms are in a more contemporary extension at the back of the property and these lack the character of the main hotel. The rooms could benefit from some upgrading but were fine for our one night stay.

Very Nice place. Unfortunately we did not stay in the castle side of the hotel. Our rooms were in the newer section. Rooms could do with an upgrade. Parking was great. The bar and restaurant staff are very friendly and food was excellent. An amazing small town and the beaches and surrounding areas are increasable. The location was great. A lot of golfers :)
On the Booking.com it said room amenities come with bathrobes, no bathrobes, when I called reception I was told its not part of your room grade, I though it was said like you're not important enough. I told her, well it said it in the amenities of this room grade, and she did send bathrobes up. Plus I told her to send to my parents room too. I think if you give bathrobes you should give slippers too.

Loved the location - Dornoch is a beautiful village and the hotel is right in the centre close to the Carnegie Whisky Cellars (highly recommended). Room was clean and comfortable, but the bar was superb and very cost with a great selection of drinks. Food in the restaurant was also lovely, as was breakfast.
Not much! Room was a bit basic, but it was clean and comfortable. Nothing else to report!

Location was excellent, near the golf course and walking distance to all the attractions in Dornoch. Quality of the food ingredients was good. The ambience in the bar and restaurant was lovely, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful
Good selection of quality charcuterie and smoked fish, but only served fried eggs and bacon for hot food at breakfast. Didn't offer to cook eggs in any other way even though I asked for scrambled egg to go with the salmon.

Wow where do i start first off the staff 110% they could not be more helpfull. sherry on arrival face cloth in the bathroom, (never even got that in a 4 star hotel) Ample tea&coffe in the room in a leather box. huge room and one floor up. meals were superb and they caterd for all our requests with a smile including a great breakfast with in 10 mins so professional. if i could give a higher score i would give them a hundred .
Reception as you had to go through bar which was crowded at the time. we would recommend all staff to ware a uniform as it could have been hard to tell who was who as hotel was busy.

Had a lovely dinner, which was excellent.
One of us has an intolerance to gluten and dairy, for breakfast one morning scrambled eggs on toast was ordered. It was only scrambled eggs on the plate when it came out the kitchen. The waitress said we had to make our own toast. We would have expected the kitchen to make the toast for the eggs. We were given gluten free bread to make toast which we wanted to have with our coffee/tea with spread & marmalade. Would have loved to have seen gluten free granola with plant based plain yogurt on the breakfast menu with fresh fruit etc blueberries.

The location is stunning, the rooms also very nicely decorated and presented. The hotel staff were lovely and we had a lovely evening in the restaurant and then in front of the open fire in the cosy bar. There is a stunning back court to take in the sun and relax.
The housekeeping was a little lacking within the room itself however management addressed this for me very quickly and were highly responsive which I really appreciated.

The castle hotel is in an excellent location in the middle of Dornoch, but at night it is quiet and we slept very well. We have stayed there before, in the modern wing at the back, but this time we had a room on the top floor of the old building. Third floor, and there's no lift to this floor, so you need to be OK with a lot of stairs! The room was lovely, like being in the TV series 'Outlander' with a four poster bed and an antique vibe to it, but with all modern facilities, including a bath rather than a shower. This room is part of a suite, so it is possible to book both the room with the four poster and the twin room sharing the bathroom for a family or group stay. Parking is easy (either out front or in their walled car park). Cosy bar with a massive choice of whisky (their speciality). Excellent breakfast. We had full Scottish each day, but there's continental breakfast options, or fish or veggie etc. We also dined in one evening, and the menu was very good - enough choice but not too much that you can't make your mind up. Fish and chips was exceptional (I liked the touch of chargrilling the lemon half), and my OH had the veggie pasta, which was delicious. Decent wine list with a good choice - we ended up with the cheapest on the list, as we needed something white to go with both fish and pasta, and that was very good. Delicious dessert too (cheesecake). Although we didn't get our table till 7.30 (I forgot to reserve when we left that morning), we got to see the menu in the bar, and reserved two desserts! We'll be back next time we are in Dornoch.
Not much really. One very minor point - the entrance is through the bottom of the old tower, and the pavement slopes down to this. There's obviously a water ingress issue, because there's a drain across the bottom of the sliding door, which all works well to keep the floor inside dry. BUT we were there when it was very cold and icy, and the sloping pavement immediately outside the door was a bit of a skating rink! Could you pop some grit/salt on it please? Or maybe have a jute mat outside? I just felt a bit vulnerable to slipping. I meant to mention it at reception but forgot.

The room was very clean and nice! The facilities had charm and we liked exploring the castle during our stay. The young bartender there knows a lot about whiskey and he was very kind and informative when we went to grab drinks at the bar. The surrounding area of central Dornoch was a lovely area to explore.
Not much to dislike, but there was a certain smell in the hallways that might turn off some sensitive noses.
