I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived. Parking was very convenient. Staff got me sorted with bags and room. Loved the view from our room! It was absolutely incredible.

I tried to book a whisky tasting for our group. Desk staff assured me that although we had booked a fairly late supper, we could still do the whisky tasting. After our meal, bar staff was reluctant but decided to proceed. The whisky tasting was awkward and rushed. The bar staff who began the tasting was mainly occupied with shutting down the bar but did give us some details about the two whiskies he poured. Then he left, and the remaining bar staff didn't know anything about the whisky; he simply poured it. In the end, it was a sub-par experience. The desk staff should have better coordinated with the bar staff and either told us that the whisky tasting would not be possible after our meal or got an agreement from the bar staff to do the tasting with full attention and service.

This place was great, incredibly attentive and friendly staff, comfy beds, amazing food, and a beautiful location. Really sorry to have to leave at the end of our stay, could have sat in front of the open fire with a glass of wine or whiskey all night! Brilliant hotel, really Scottish vibe about the place, tartan carpets, cosy four poster beds, big open fireplace with a fire blazing, Scottish food on the menu, just wonderful.

Nothing, apart from having to leave! All good things come to an end.

The room was spacious (suite). Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is quiet, surrounded by a small park. The luxurious castle-like ambiance is very attractive. The location is perfectly suited for exploring the North, Caingorms and even the West.

The Restaurant only serves a fixed selection of 3 starters and 3 main courses. if you stay more than one night this is simply not good enough. Also the quality of the food is not stable. once not seasoned at all, once way too salty (this was replaced and not charged, to be fair). The temperature in the dining room dropped to below 15 degrees centigrade for dinner. We complained twice and ultimately the heating was turned up after two days.

From the warm, friendly and helpful welcome we received upon our arrival through to the comfort of the mattress everything at Kincraig either matched or exceeded our expectations. Kincraig Castle Hotel is very conveniently situated on the A9 route thirty minutes north of Inverness. It is set well back from the road so traffic is neither seen nor heard. The grounds are very pleasant and afford views into the distance across fields to the south. The same view is seen from the dining room, bar and some bedrooms. The bedroom we had was very spacious with wardrobe, drawers, desk, two arm chairs, small table and TV. The bathroom was large and brightly decorated. Both rooms were well heated and most comfortable in March. The main lounge area was large with an open fire burning bright, a wide range of comfortable seating and decorated as well as furnished to a high standard. The restaurant was bright and cheerful with tables well spaced and excellent service from very positive, attentive staff. Food at dinner was very tasty and well presented with a short, but varied, menu. At breakfast there was a very good selection of cereals, fruit, compote, yoghurt, fruit juice, etc. The hot menu as well as the usual Scottish fare included a variety of other options including smashed avocado on toast with a very nice salsa, poached eggs and balsamic. We could have happily breakfasted here for several days! This was our first visit to Kincraig Castle Hotel but certainly not our last. The team who have taken over in 2023 are doing an outstanding job and long may they succeed.

Room size, general aesthetic, authenticity, architecture, grounds

The staff in the off-season were not trained to the level the accommodation provokes. Inconsistent delivery, uniforms were often not matching and too often the staff introduced their own personal issues in view of the guests, such as running around, passing off questions until they had completed a task and generally did not know how to deal with customers of a higher standard than the usual locals. I suggest you give you staff unilateral training and have a floor manager that keeps the quality consistent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the castle. What a gorgeous place! The receptionist gave us a warm welcome upon arrival from our long journey. The food is of a high quality - we all tried Cullen Skink for the first time and it was delicious! The breakfasts were well presented and there was something for everyone. We enjoyed meeting and conversing with other guests from different walks of life. The rooms are clean and warm, with comfy beds. If you have the chance to stay here, take it!

The only down side was one of the staff members rolled her eyes when asked about the portion size of the Cullen Skink.

We arrived late (after midnight) & the night porter was very welcoming & helpful. The hotel is very comfortable & it was interesting to learn of the upcoming upgrades that should make it even more so. Possibly the best (cooked) breakfast I’ve had for a while. Great location for touring the area, and/or as a stop on the NC 500.

The continental breakfast offering was a little underwhelming. And the breakfast room itself wasn’t quite up to the standard of the rest, comparatively. But that’s a minor complaint.

Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful landscape grounds and outside seating area. Inside, gorgeous seatting area (Hunter's Hall). Our room was clean and spacious. Afternoon tea w/ scones were wonderful. Delicious dinner. Relaxing and quiet hotel.

Slow service (understaffed?). Window edges in the room with dirt and paint flaking off. Wanted the full afternoon tea but apparently requires advanced notice and before 4pm (advert was from 1pm-4.30pm), we arrived at 4 pm, so settled for simple tea and scones instead.
