Excellent Value, great location for us .. near where we wanted to be. Main road a bit noisy but didn't bother us for the price. Good size rooms, (1×twin room & 1x king bedroom)not modern but clean and very comfy beds. It was ground floor like a little row of bungalows outside with own patio and table chairs. Fan in the room, kettle tea coffee etc..good size tv. Wardrobes lots of drawers, desk/dressing table. Slept very well. Morning we had a Lovely self serv cooked breakfast in the main spacious dining room and also a menu option for omelates, poached eggs etc.. as well as cereals toast and juices, tea, coffee. We had evening meal in the bar, the food was excellent we had fish & chips, scampi & chips, a huge stacked burger & chips, and the chef cooked a jacket potato especially for 1 of us with cheese & beans and lovely salad (normally only available lunch times. Nice desserts, lovely friendly staff, excellent service. Highly recommend ***** xxx
Only couple of things but 99% positive as these things didn't bother us. Had the odd cheeky beetle sneak in our room but it's in the countryside so to be expected. Noisy road. King bed sloped down at the head end, bit weird and shower ran out of water so only 1 person got shower in the king room. Not complaining as only stayed 1 night so we managed.

The staff were so nice and accommodating. Food was amazing. I didn't eat at the hotel all the time but if you like smoked salmon in a prawn cocktail then you're in for a treat. The sticky toffee pudding was out of this world & the breakfast options were lovely from cooked buffet, all the usual continental stuff to omelettes and Eggs Benedict or Royale. If you're a foody then it's brilliant. Room itself spacious, clean and had everything you could want including a kettle which I love. Bed and cushions firm but comfortable and hotel well located. Always got a good night's sleep as there's nowhere else about the hotel.
Only slight niggle was mobile (O2) reception really weak and hotel WiFi weak also but there's probably not much the hotel can do about this. Fortunately there was lots to do so just got in my car and did day trips then listened to music or downloaded podcasts at night time. Got used to it. Within minutes drive from the hotel, the signal is perfectly fine so you can work round it tbh.

Breakfast was self service, but staff regularly checked/refreshed cooked items. Good selection to choose from. A decent selection of beverages in bar. Bedroom and bathroom were both spacious, and well equipped. Location was ideal for Steam Railway, Windermere cruises, Lakeland Motor Museum, and well situated for trips out to other areas of the Lakes. All staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.
My only gripe was the key code for late access to the main entrance. I couldn’t get it to work, but it worked fine on two other side doors. This could have been a big problem if there was only one entrance, as on two occasions I had to use one of the side entrances to get in!

The rooms were old but with good character, and the daily housekeeping was very professional and did a very good job. The coffee and teas in the room were replenished daily as well. The option to order what we liked in addition to the buffet was very nice and the food was cooked well. There were ample parking and the staff was very friendly. The location was close to the main lakes, but you want a car to get around. No major complaints.
The room was showing its age, and the blankets were a bit too thin for how cold it could get in the lakes. The English breakfast buffet (namely the sausages, bacon, and hash browns) can get a bit soggy because of how long they are left out, it would be nice if they were cooked in smaller batches so they are consumed quickly and won't get soggy. The breakfast service ended at 9:45, it would be nice to have to be able to eat later for when we wanted to sleep in.

We enjoyed the food, especially the carvery. The fish and chips were also good. The staff were lovely and our room was cleaned daily with fresh bed linen. The location was great . Close to Ulverston, Newby Bridge and Cartmel. It was also handy for the cruise on Windermere and steam train.
My husband wasn't keen on the filter coffee and the only thing that bothered me was the busy road that the hotel is located on. We didn't hear the traffic when we closed our bedroom window though so it didn't disturb our sleep at all. We also know the hotel can't help the traffic. It just spoilt it a little when we sat outside for a drink enjoying an otherwise lovely country side view.

Great price for a spotless and comfortable room, close to the Motor Museum, good food on the evening and good serve your self breakfast. when we were there there was a half price first drink at the bar on which is a nice touch.
It's a shame the restaurant closes at 7pm on Sunday and prices for food and drink are on the top side but the food was good. Phone signal is not the best and the TV struggles to receive BBC 1 & 2 but there is absolutely nothing they can do about that, Would be nice if the volume on the TV went a little louder or being able to activate subtitles would be a good idea.

My wife and I stayed with a friend using two rooms at Rusland Pool as part of a motorcycle tour of Cumbria. The hotel sits adjacent to the A590. The main part of the hotel had numerous rooms but ours were what we consider as "annexe style", being part of an adjoining extension. Our own room was one of three which have a "private" patio area available outside each one with a table and chairs for sitting out and views of the countryside. There was a grassed area with some play equipment for kids and a larger general patio area with more tables. We'd describe the hotel as the "traditional" rather than "boutique" type and this is our preferred style, with a relaxed, more homely feel than some of the newer ones in our opinion. Our double room was very pleasant and quite spacious with wardrobe and dressing table / bedside tables for clothes etc. More than adequate for us. There was a "walk-in" type of shower and the unit itself gave a nice flow of water with a good range of temperature settings. Towels were plentiful and soap / shower gels were provided. Shaving mirror with light was helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and we found the double bed very comfortable for us. The hotel had a restaurant and although we didn't actually eat in the evenings (due only to early starts / very late returns each day from our daily trips, other guests told us the food was nice. We did have drinks in the bar however and there seemed to be a good selection available. We enjoyed the breakfasts, which had options of cereals, toast, fruit, tea, coffee and fruit juices. There were also cooked breakfasts, which were plentiful and nicely cooked in our opinion. The latter were "help yourself" format so that we could choose what content and how much or little of each item we wanted as opposed to the "pre-plated" breakfast which most hotels do nowadays.

The friendliness of the staff made this a good place to stay. Parking was easy and it was a short drive to Ulverston. We had a meal which was good. Breakfast was buffet style and regularly topped up with fresh food. Good selection of cask ales at a reasonable price. Room was fine. Well appointed for storage and power points. Shower was good.
The pillows were uncomfortable for me and I had difficulty sleeping. Wi-fi is very poor in rooms. Had to go to bar or reception to get signal. Remote control for TV was so dirty we had to clean it with an antibacterial wipe. But the staff were great and welcoming so it was easy to overlook these shortfalls.

I booked a stay for me & my 5 YO during May half term. The price of the room including breakfast was very reasonable and the stay offered everything we needed. Clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, good location for exploring the south Lakes (we weren't looking for a specific location and just adapted our itinerary to where we were) and option to eat on site as well as a huge lawn for my son to play on! Breakfast was great, plenty to set you up for a busy day exploring and food in the restaurant was hearty fare! I would undoubtedly return!
For the price, there wasn't much to dislike! You could argue the rooms are a little dated but that's personal opinion/taste and everything in the room was very clean and in good order. My only slight gripe would be the wifi was a bit intermittent and speed was definitely slower in the evening but otherwise nothing much to complain about!

It’s a Nice place and also quite considering it’s next to a busy road also has a lovely place to walk nice garden with a play area for kids.
The food wasn’t very good I had a double cheeseburger for dinner and it was just dry and chewy I couldn’t eat it my other half had the fish and chips which just didn’t even look good the fish it’s self was curled up which I’ve never seen before just wasn’t very good. Breakfast was better but unfortunately the scrambled egg didn’t sit well for me I ended up throwing that back up. I’d give the food a 5 outta 10 which is pretty reasonable I think.
