This was our second visit to the Fleece Inn. It's in a great location and makes a great stop for us when we travel up to Scotland. It's close enough to the main road, but is in a quiet location. Rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. Huge bathroom! My husband loved the fish platter the last time we visited, and had it again this time. Staff friendly.

The first time we stayed, it was in a room on the first floor, which was perfect. This time, we were on the ground floor, looking out onto the parking lot, with the chargers for electric cars right outside our bedroom. It was a warm night and the room was hot but we couldn't open the window. Also, I don't often complain about food, but I had a steak that was very disappointing. The rest of my meal was great, though.

Great rustic rooms, really friendly and comfortable place. The staff were really great. The pub was busy when we arrived but one staff member made it clear they saw and would prioritise our check-in. A waiter was really friendly and made our stop-off stay extra special at the start of our honeymoon. Thank you. There's a handy mini-newsagents as part of the shop, good for essentials for the onward journey.

Car park was full when the pub is busy, so we had to figure out where it was possible to park. Otherwise, I think we haf no complaints.

Staff were warm and welcoming, and the interior design of the inn was exceptional. We loved the pictures on the wall. The room was very clean and fresh and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. Dinner was excellent and the staff went the extra mile and very kindly booked a table for us ahead of our arrival. Breakfast was excellent! All in all, a really lovely overnight stay for us to recharge our batteries for our onward journey back home. Thank you!

My wish would have been to have an iron and ironing board in the bedroom.

Such a lovely place , fab decor , very spacious room and bathroom , don’t to a very high standard . The staff were all super friendly and the breakfast options were fab and cooked food was cooked lovely and well presented .

It was a red hot day and hard to cool the room down , it had air con but we didn’t see the switch till the 2nd day as it was behind a chair but couldn’t work it as it was pre set 🙈, the shower was amazing but could have done with a squeegee for the floor, minor detail !!

Beautifully appointed room - warm and with a huge bathroom and large bed . Superior Room 3 . As this was a local Pub/Inn naturally staff attention was more focused on the Pub and Retaurant clientele but they helped us with our rather large and heavy bag and our friends who live close by knew most of the locals there so we were able to feel at home. Dinner was quite good in the Restaurant and breakfast was excellent . Outdoor back garden also super - there was an alcove with an unlit fire to sit outside even when raining . Would definetely stay here again, Countryside around the area is beautiful.

Nothing really - all good .

tasty breakfast. Earl grey tea provided in room facilities, as requested. good walk in shower. good location. shop also on premises to buy paper from. integrated restaurant/bar facilities. Provision of air conditioning was much appreciated during hot weather spell.

limited variety for breakfast e.g. no 'buffet style. facility offering cereals/fruit and fresh juice -option was either continental or full English cooked breakfast. Evening meal service was slow and some staff not very accommodating. Despite it having walk in, 'drencher' shower, no shower cap provided.

Room was outstanding. Staff were all 'brilliant' and went the extra mile to provide a very good service over the 2 separate bookings we had whilst in transit. We had 2 very good dinners with a very good choice of menu. If anything quantities of food were too generous! Breakfast - very good & a surprising choice was available (including kippers). Hotel/bar was surprisingly busy/lively for a fairly isolated location - this added to an excellent atmosphere. WE WILL RETURN despite living over 350 miles away!

A small issue with boiler & related noises - this is being fixed!

We loved everything about our stay at the Fleece Inn. We were very tired after our journey, and the staff were just the tonic. Our room was glorious. Much bigger than we expected and all the extras were greatly appreciated. We ate at the Inn and the food and atmosphere were excellent. The roaring fire, friendly locals, heaps of dogs, great food and a very comfortable bed. Would very highly recommend and can’t wait to return. Thank you to all the team at the Inn for such a lovely stay. Oh and the breakfast was fantastic!

Fabulous location but transformed from the pub which was an intenive but lively/slightly chaotic local social centre I remembered when I lived at 19 Coreless Cottages, Dolphinholme less than 0.5 km away from 1967 to 1970, where I had my first daughter. We frequented the Fleece regularly, as it was the place to meet the locals (we were incommers as I was teaching and researching at the very new Lancaster University just moving onto the Balrig site from town). So as soon as my daughter could walk; before the age of 1! in nappies, my daughter set off for the Fleece. The neighbouring farmer spotted her and brought her back before calling his cows for milking. We had been frantically looking for her, but did not think she could have even reached the road over the cobbles outside our back door. She asserted she was going to THE PUB! So some fantastic revisiting of an important stage in my life and a delightful walk by the Wyre, to complete an old triangle of route too and from the Fleece. The food, evening and breakfast was fantasticly good - tjotally excellent and they fitted us in in the evening thought they were incredibly busy.

It was an excellent and very comfortable room with a wonderful bathroom, complete with both bath and walk in shower, so delightful that it seems churlish to complain about anything. But I had forgotten to charge my toothbrush before leaving home, so I wanted to plug its charger in, but there wasn't a suitable shaver socket. My wife would have liked some handcream and paper hankies as well, but although there was really good soap, shampoo, etc. there wasn't any handcream. Maybe only in that room. We'll have to go back to check the other rooms, enjoy more of the exceptional menu, more local beautiful walks and some time in the beer garden enjoying the delightful friendly atmosphere.

Easy parking, great welcome by Daniel. We were able to check in early drop off our bags and head off to explore and make the most of the beautiful countryside. On return we sat with some cold ciders in the pretty garden. We ate in and it was great! The service was excellent and food incredible value for money. The rooms are beautiful and have good quality tea and coffee, and free mineral water. The bathroom is large and has both a bath and shower with lovely shower and bath gels. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. A special mention must go to Natasha, to whom nothing is too much trouble!
