Booked as a night away for hubby's birthday, when we arrived we were shown to our room by a lovely, friendly chatty lady.  My husband was thrilled by the birthday balloons on the bed. We had room 3 which was huge and spotlessly clean, we could see the castle from our bedroom windows, take care with left window it needs repairing. Bathroom was immaculate with a lovely deep bath with shower over it.  Water was lovely and hot and never ran cold.  All toiletries we needed were there.  Towels were beautiful, white, thick and fluffy. Our coffee tray had ample supplies, Welsh tea, coffee, hot chocolate and welsh cakes. There was also a large glass bottle of water. Bed was super king and absolutely spotless, with clean crisp white bedding.  Pillows were  just perfect. We were advised to book if we wanted evening meal, thankfully we did as it was extremely busy.  We sat outside in one of the three the beer gardens enjoying the sunshine before we ate. Hubby ordered gammon, I ordered lamb & mint pie, onion rings and cheesy garlic bread.  Gammon sadly was rather dry, my pie was delicious but the HUGE puff pastry lid was cold and I missed a jug of gravy to pour over my chips.  Garlic bread was delicious and portion HUGE, guys on table next to us couldn't believe how much there was and was eyeing it up so we shared.  Onion rings were immense, never had any so good. We slept really well despite the bed not being overly comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, you could help yourself to cereal, toast, yoghurt, toast, hot drinks and fruit juice.  There wax a good selection of milks.  The Welsh breakfast was beautiful and the best sausages we've had. I totally fell in love with the hotel,  I had a good look around all the corridors as adore old buildings, the wonky creaky floorboards just add to the charm of the 17th century building, the staff were fantastic, warm, welcoming and couldn't do enough for you.

it was in a good location for what I was doing over the weekend.

room over looked the kitchen roof. when I first entered it was full of cooking smoke as the windows were open. I was woken at 6:05 by the the extraction system starting outside the window. room was very tired damaged walls and bathroom was very small

Hotel is situated right in the centre of the town and has old style charm. Have stayed here in the past and it was looking a bit tired but it has been revamped and redecorated and is looking much smarter now. Very nicely decorated, clean and tidy. Breakfast was good. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Room was charming, with huge comfy four poster bed and a large bathroom which was unexpected so it made our stay even more pleasant.

Couldn’t find fault other than perhaps fruit and yogurt could be made available at breakfast, but that’s only a very minor point.

Good Location and parking

They were obviously short staffed and could not cope with our meal booking. We booked their restaurant for a meal for 7 people at 7.30. Despite the fact we were all staying in the hotel we had to pay a deposit of £5 per person. We did not get our food until 9.30 just being constantly told there was a long wait for food! I feel they should have returned our deposit admit they could not fulfill our meal order which would have allowed us to go elsewhere. Eventually the manager apologised and offered us a glass of Prosecco but it was all then a bit too late. I genuinely felt sorry for their staff being left in the deep end trying to cope.

The hotel is situated in the town centre and has a car park. It was a last minute booking for my grandson and i because of a problem with my car. The staff were very polite and welcoming especially a lady called Amanda who couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly a real asset to the hotel in my opinion. we didn’t eat dinner there because we’d already eaten before we arrived so can’t comment on the food except for the breakfast which was delicious. Bar had a good selection of wines beers and spirits and was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a beer. The barman was very friendly too. A lovely lounge area with settees and chairs and a fire made for a very comfortable place to relax.

Not a dislike at all really. The hotel is being renovated and repainted and i don’t like the smell of paint but that’s just me. so that’s about the only negative thing i can say!

We were made to feel most welcome when we arrived. The room was immaculately clean, warm and the beds were very comfortable. I loved the quirky old building. The breakfast was very tasty and the hotel catered very well for a vegetarian while my football mad grandson had an enormous bacon and egg sandwich while watching the football on the big screen. Quickly served by a most attentive staff. If ever I come down that way again I shall be pleased to stay there once more and recommend it to others.

The pillows were too big!

The hotel is central for the town with good parking and easy routes out to the surrounding countryside. We found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful upon arrival and throughout our stay. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed. The restaurant provided good value food with a reasonable selection of beers. If ever I return to Llandovery this would be my prefered accomodation.

The hotel is pretty old and in need of some TLC but everything worked as it should and the friendliness of the staff more than made up for the tiredness of the building.

I loved the staff and cleanliness of the room. It was a huge room with a bathtub that I never used but really liked everyone and the food was amazing

My only slight issue was the mattress, I didn't sleep that well because when I rolled over the springs were a little jabby, but that was solved easily enough by sleeping on top of the comforter. Stressing overall though that this was a great stay

Centrally located in the town, next to the small museum , tourist information and ruined castle. Outside seating in a small square and to the rear of the building. The evening meal was particularly good and a good breakfast too - no breakfast menu but able to choose what you wanted. 3 decent real ales on.

The outside rear area contains a few trip hazards but is a work in progress.
