Breakfast is good although a wider selection for continental would be better if you don’t want a cooked breakfast. The location of the hotel is its selling point, brilliant views from the rooms on the beach side and close enough to hear the waves. The bar area is nice and comfortable to relax in.

I stay at the Victoria twice a year and love it for the location and sea views. However, for the price I would expect a higher standard of maintenance around the hotel. The rooms are clean but there is little attention paid, save for hoovering, to cleaning around the back door entrance area, for example, or cleaning areas such as the door grooves in the lift and around edges. I was in room 301 and usually am as it is a twin room. The bathroom floor definitely has needed replacing for some time.

Didn’t have breakfast as sleep late. Parking was easy. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially when I was unwell during my stay. The room was very clean, beds really comfy and good hanging space for clothes. Bathroom was huge.

Would have liked a second bedside cabinet - there was room for one more. We only booked for two nights but stayed an extra night. Had we been there for longer would have preferred the extra surface space. Only one extra blanket for two (twin) beds was a little strange but we were ok as it wasn’t too cold. Not the best view but for a standard room (and rate) it was ok.

The room was very clean. The bedding was very clean. The mattress had a protector on which was clean to. Tea and coffee was provided in the room. The walk in shower was dated but very clean. The bathroom catered for wheelchair access, as the vanity sink was wheelchair height, I found that awkward to use, I needed to bend down to use it. I liked everything about this hotel, staff very friendly, helpful, and polite. The Dining area looked over the sea beautiful. The bar area had been modernised, the theme being the beach and beach huts I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay.

The breakfast left alot to be desired. In all honesty if a chef can not cook a soft poached egg the I'm sorry he's not a good chef. The toast was not fresh, the bacon I was given was stale. Hard poached egg. Sorry the breakfast was very disappointing.

The staff are wonderful. Professional friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The window in my room badly needed cleaning. Some of the carpets in the public areas could be spruced up. I am a smoker and the basement area around the staff door gives a bad impression .However my room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very tasty and the white linen and fresh flowers on the tables were a lovely addition. Sea views and direct access to the promenade from the hotel was perfect.Loads of free parking. I had a lovely stay and will come back again. Thank You All

Travelled up from Brixham to attend a surprise 90th Birthday lunch. The food was well prepared, hot & the portions substantial. Serving staff were on the ball & would not hesitate to recommend The Victoria for your celebrations. Excellent choices for breakfast, although I decided to custom my choices for the remainder of stay. Well appointed room with an amazing sea view from my window. Staff well trained, professional & friendly, and made time to chat with you whilst attending to serving. I'd travelled up from Brixham & had recommendations from staff on where to get car hand washed. The bathroom had been refurbished to a high standard.

Although the bathroom is of high standard, I did struggle to get into the bath for a shower. Found it to be quite high & having knee problems I was mindful of getting in & out, ( might check for disabled room next time) Had a problem with the shower, but was rectified quickly & the maintenance man returned to make sure it was ok with me. ( I wasn't showering) Hotel information folder was hidden away on a low shelf, & some details out of date, beauty room prices ( 2019) & no up to date menu for restaurant, I believe they are looking at this.

Very friendly and professional staff, very clean and well presented although perhaps a little dated in certain area’s. The sea view dinning room is just fab and so is the food, best breakfast I have had recently (although I prefer not to preorder the night before) The room was clean again perhaps a little dated but with nice big wardrobe and nice very clean bathroom The bed does need new mattress and pillows as they are not the best but overall definitely worth every penny and would stay again

Uncomfortable bed

We had both breakfast (included) and dinner there. Both meals were lovely and the dinner was good value. The staff were, without exception, lovely. Fabulous location and sea view. We had 4 sea view rooms and they were all gorgeous and immaculate.

This is an old hotel so there was no air conditioning and we were there when it was very hot. Also, and this is very picky, no USB ports in the room, so take an adaptor. Beautiful rooms and furniture though.

The breakfast choices, food quality, food service, and beachfront views from the restaurant, were all beyond expectation. Very friendly, personable, and service oriented staff. Fabulous beachfront views from many rooms. Even some rooms that do not advertise a view had good sidelong views of the beach. Modern spacious bathrooms, comfortable beds, and well supplied in-room tea, coffee, and cookies! Beautiful historic building with an interior that radiates easy casual beachside elegance. Situated on the boardwalk with a lovely walk into town and to Ness Point in one direction (recommend Flint Portuguese Restaurant) and a lovely walk toward Pakefield Parish Church in the other (recommend Jolly Sailors Pub). Quite a find!

The hotel was clean with professional and polite staff. The breakfast experience was enjoyable. Evening dining was excellent. Wide choice and every dish appetising. The newly decorated rooms and main areas have been thought about with appropriate colour schemes for a Victorian building which have been professionally applied. So often you find decorations have been cheaply carried out but here you can see the wallpaper hanging and painting is of a high standard. This can be interpreted as a reflection of the commitment to thinking about the visitors experience at all levels. Cost wise it was the second most competitively priced but taking into account the full English breakfast options (including pancakes, poached eggs, sandwich, etc ) against the cheapest priced stay continental only, and the ample free parking it could be seen as the most competitive, and you're in a large hotel designed as such with ensuite rooms, lift and a bar and food available throughout the day. There are afternoon tea experiences and Sunday lunch available to tempt you to relax at the hotel rather than venture out into Lowestoft. The Victoria benefits with a beautiful sandy beach on its door step, located for walks along the promenade to walk off dinner and amusements on the Clermont pier for little ones to spend their 2p's.

The only negative point was our ensuite shower. Being on the top floor water pressure was low and hadn't been addressed with installation of a pumped water supply to the shower whilst refurbishment projects were undertaken and showering was a frustrating experience. But, you get the impression that very soon this will be addressed as The Victoria has the customer experience paramount and they want your stay to be perfect.

As you walked into the hotel it was fresh and bright and the bar area caught your eye with it's modern yet not over the top decor. The breakfast room was bright and airy in a grey and white colour scheme which was tasteful. The views out to sea were stunning. The rooms were quite and clean. The bathroom was a bit dated but clean. There was tea/coffee facilities. The staff were very friendly and smartly dressed. Overall a very excellent stay. Booked again for June!
