we received very friendly welcome and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Our dogs were made very welcome and even received a sausage each for breakfast. The location is good. it’s enough out of town to have ample parking and yet it’s an easy walk down to the town and sea. Just around the corner is woodland where the dogs can run and from this a level path beside the river all the way to the centre of Lyme Regis which we really enjoyed. We will definitely return for longer next time.

Can’t think of anything

Friendly, helpful staff. Free car parking. Good location for exploring the area. Breakfast was lovely and fresh cooked to order.Dog friendly and charged very reasonably at £10 per night. Lovely garden with great views across the town towards the sea. Hot shower and a comfy bed. Good quality tea/coffee making facilities in room. An easy 5 minute walk downhill into town

A struggle to walk back to the hotel up a very steep hill - be warned, especially if you have mobility issues. Our twin bedded room was small, though to be fair, was perfectly adequate for our short stay. A long wait for cooked breakfast, though was worth it - just be aware if you’re pushed for time. We sometimes fancied a late evening drink - needed after walking up that hill😁 but unfortunately the bar shut at 9.30pm. I gather there is a shortage of staff, as we noted elsewhere in the town.

Lovely staff who helped us with bike storage. The bar and restaurant looked good but we were out exploring the local area most of the time. We had a three night stay here and loved the breakfasts and the friendly atmosphere.

There was some sort of building work in progress on the outside wall of our room and the plastic sheeting outside was flapping about most of the night. We also had a dog friendly room and it had a very badly stained carpet. Our own dog is very clean in the house and I often feel hotels give dog owners a poor room but charge us a premium for it. It’s a shame because the hotel is very nice on the whole.

Very spacious, clean room with modern facilities. Lovely picturesque garden with views. Staff were friendly and attentive (shout out to Alicia!). We enjoyed a cocktail from the well-stocked bar before heading into town for dinner. Good location, just a short walk down the hill to the centre. Very dog friendly too!

It's a shame this old hotel has a modern interior. Aside from the large fireplaces, there's no sense of it dating from the 17th century or being a former coaching inn. The breakfast room is clean and contemporary but lacks any personality. Also, a small point, breakfast was very slow arriving (half an hour from ordering). Worth the wait though!

Staff all very friendly and helpful. We were offered advice on evening meals, places to visit etc which was obviously an extra but appreciated. We felt they showed an interest in us and we’re happy to chat if they had time. The room was comfortable with a good size shower cubicle. The breakfast was excellent- far bigger than expected and they made me gluten free toast which was very much appreciated. Little tip-I had an elderflower and cucumber cider to which I added some mint from the garden which was lovely. I hope the herbs being grown can be used more. The garden was a very nice.

The window was very difficult to close in our room. We were happy to leave it open but it may be a problem in colder weather. Some areas of the hotel were looking a little tired but it’s hard to have somewhere looking pristine and up to date without constantly painting , updating carpets etc. It would be nice to have an evening meal offered but I think this is something that is being considered anyway.

Staff very courteous and helpful . Breakfast was reasonable no evening meal facility was disappointing. Staff dealt with a concern very efficiently and enhanced our stay as a result We were moved to a more private room that was much better . Staff assited to make a birthday surprise for my wife a magic moment.

first room we were put in was totally unacceptable in that the room next door (1) could look strainght into our room (4) I advised staff how to remedy this with clearly marked boundaries on the terrace . I strongly recommend that you take this action because many other clients will experience the same intrusion. To say it is a fire escape does not wash a line of paint on the floor will make no difference to any fire escape.

Breakfast excellent, a select menu excellently presented and cooked to perfection. Cannot find any fault at all. Although at the moment the hotel does not have a resident chef and does not provide a range of cooked dishes for dinner. As a preliminary step towards finding a suitable chef to provide excellent cuisine, and during the summer months ahead intend to offer a cold platter for guests who would like to take advantage of the hotels hidden secret, its lovely garden. During my recent stay, I spent several hours sat in the garden retreat and enjoyed afternoon tea as well as the cold platter for my dinner/evening meal. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the atmosphere was one of peace and calm.

I really cannot find fault with the hotel, except maybe a lift to take luggage to the upper floors. However, one has to accept that this is an old building, most probably an historical old coaching inn, not designed for lifts. So one has to be aware of this beforehand. However, the staff are all very helpful and anything they can do to help make your stay more enjoyable will not prove to be a problem.

Great location for walking down into Lyme Regis (though a bit of a steep walk back!). The guest rooms were pleasant & comfortable. The staff in the hotel were all really friendly & helpful.

Breakfast. When our cooked breakfast finally appeared - (50 minutes after we’d sat down!) - it was very nice and filling. However despite there being breakfast time slots (which presumably some guests didn’t adhere to) it was a ridiculously long wait. Fortunately we weren’t in a hurry - but wouldn’t like to think that this was a regular occurrence.

The staff were lovely and welcoming, nothing too much bother. The room had incredible views over Lyme bay towards Seaton. The hotel is a quirky building and we loved all the old features The facilities were up to date and worked well - the shower was great. Breakfast was excellent. We also had 2 evening meals in the bar/restaurant that ticked a lot of boxes - the chips are amazing.

The bed was a bit too hard for me but that's personal preference - it was a good solid bed

Easy to find. Pleasant and comfortable, staff very welcoming and friendly. Excellent breakfast and good choices. Evening platter was impressive. Drinks (ie wine, gin etc) were very nice but quite expensive. Overall, a very pleasant stay and would certainly consider returning.

Very small shower cubicle in our room though appreciate the space itself is limiting. Cleaning standards were a little lacking in a number of places throughout the property. We also had to mention that the plumbing in the toilet was not very satisfactory!!
