Beautifully furnished. Superb breakfast.
The hotel doesn’t open until 4pm. Although we arrived a bit early with every intention of having a stroll it was concerning as the place was so closed up. Did wonder if we had been scammed. I think this should be made clear on booking description.Parking very limited and difficult but there is a side street with no restrictions. Also we could not sit with friends at breakfast. Separate breakfast rooms. As we had paid more and they were restricted to non cooked breakfast we had to sit in different rooms. So all a bit odd and could be made clear upfront. But for a one night stay it was perfectly fine. Pay a bit more l, you won’t regret it for the fantastic breakfast.

The hotel was very comfortable, with great traditional touches which were lovely. Clean and tidy room and bathroom, plenty of teas and coffee, shower was brilliant. Rooms good for space, comfortable large beds, plenty of natural light in the room, very quiet as it was at the back of the hotel. But even though its based in a triangle of busy roads, we didnt hear much traffic noise at all. Excellent value for money. David was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable with information about the local area and transport opportunities. June was very friendly and her breakfasts were superb 😊 Excellent location for heading into the Quays or Manchester.
Nothing to dislike

Nestled within walking distance from Monton and dozens of restaurants, this charming hotel stands as one of the last bastions of privately-owned hospitality in the country. The dynamic duo behind its creation have poured their hearts into preserving the Victorian essence of the property, crafting an environment that exudes warmth and authenticity. The beauty of this hotel lies not just in its architecture, which goodness knows must require extensive upkeep costs, but in the palpable passion and care that have been invested into it. Each room, unique and comfortable, offers a distinct experience that is hard to find in the uniformity of large chain hotels. The idiosyncrasies of the building, like the low ceiling beams in the loft rooms, are not flaws but character traits. They contribute to the overall charm and offer a glimpse into a treasured architectural style. Despite the challenging economic climate post-Brexit, the hotel thrives, a testament to the owners’ resilience and dedication. The fact that the hotel was fully booked for several nights during my stay speaks volumes about its allure. It’s more than just a place to stay; it’s a home away from home that keeps people coming back. Here’s to the owners, navigating these complex times with grace and tenacity. May their labor of love continue to flourish and provide a haven for travelers far and wide.

I haven't rated the WiFi because we did not bother to use it. The room was very quiet, very well decorated, tastefuly styled. The bathroom was very good indeed, the bed extremely comfortable. We slept like babies. Next morning the included breakfast was the best we'd had in a hotel, a straightforward full English breakfast but perfectly cooked. They offered extra toast and extra coffee. We couldn't fault the service or the quality of the breakfast, even the breakfast room, which was in the style of a conservatory, was tastefully styled and welcoming.
Our only small quibble was that the TV wasn't working which we assume was because the batteries in the remote needed changing, but we really didn't care about that as we were not there to watch TV but to get a good night's sleep (which we certainly got)... we didn't feel inclined to complain about the TV as everything else was excellent.

Clean and very large room - with every bit of furniture you need Windows in the ceiling Delicious breakfast - we had the full English , toast and coffee . More toast and coffee was also offered but we were full ! The chef - sorry I didn’t get the lady’s name , was very attentive and kind Free toiletries Free teas and coffees in the room Comfy bed and soft and hard pillows Sofa in the room - nice touch Free parking on site High street is a few minutes drive away Quiet and peaceful night Easy check in and check out ; host who received us - sorry I didn’t get his name - was very funny Your own key so you can let yourself in and out
Room was on the top floor ! Looked like a penthouse room so we saw the climbing as good exercise - lols No toilet / bathroom downstairs for guests Breakfast 7.30 to 8.30 weekdays - crikey ! Too early for us but we managed and breakfast was worth it Decor / walls/ bathroom - not too modern but we liked it

This was the loveliest single room I have ever stayed in. Room 3, for £65 including breakfast is a genuine bargain. The building and decor is very well looked after - great ambience. Staff really courteous and helpful - good old fashioned customer service from a bygone age. The photo I posted is of the breakfast lounge. The rules posted in the bedroom must mean some previous guests didn't use their basic common sense. Would stay here again in a heartbeat 💗

The rooms were comfy and had lovely decor. The hotel was peaceful and welcoming. Friendly and helpful staff. The parking was round the back in a well lit garden area and it felt like a safe spot. A short walk to the many eateries at Monton, if needed.
It is quite a way out from the city but an Uber was around £10 so the great value accommodation offset that. Breakfast included was very basic and it was a stretch to call tea, cereal and toast a “Continental Breakfast”. I would have rather paid a bit more and had at least yogurt and fruit on offer.

The rooms were very clean
The rooms were very cold through the night, the breakfast that is included with this stay was cereal and toast, if you want a cooked breakfast you had to pay £10. I went down to breakfast at about 9am to be told I was lucky as it was been switch off, she said breakfast was between 7.30 till 8.30 but I was told when I checked in that it was between 7.30 till 10 ..... heating is switched off until check in time

Nice big room, bed was comfortable, no issues parking, breakfast was good, staff very friendly.
Only 2 things we would say could improve. The hot water in the shower and sink took a while to get hot but when it did was a nice shower. The breakfast was good and the nice lady chef worked very hard but we found green mould on some of the bread which I removed without complaining because my wife is allergic to penicillin.

The inside of this property exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked through the front door and was greeted by Dave. I was made to feel welcome. The interior of the hotel has been lovingly put together in every detail from pictures on the walls to amazing curiosities. The dining room and conservatory were beautifully designed. My room was clean and larger than most hotels I have stayed in it was perfect, not one of these corporate hotel rooms where everything is sparse and exactly the same. This hotel provides individual uniqueness, along with comfort the personal touches are everywhere. Breakfast was freshly cooked, parking was not a issue and would I stay again YES! Great value for the money
There was nothing that I could find fault in
