281 Restaurant and Rooms

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We stayed in room 210, and it was disclosed that this was their best room. The room was very spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant/bar area was very nicely decorated. We didn't eat here, but the food we saw looked very nice and looked like decent portions. There was also ample parking.

It wasn't that we didn't like anything. However, the entrance and stairway could do with a makeover. The stair carpet was a little run down. But this wouldn't stop us from staying here again or recommending to friends and family.

Room was large and comfortable, bathroom needs attention, mildew in shower, old shower bar still in situ, bathroom sink cabinet needs replacing as wood has become damp and has blown down the sides, needs modernising and floor needs replacing. Didn't like the wall covering in the shower, proper tiling would be much nicer. Breakfast was excellent, nice bright room, good quality food and pleasant staff who checked on you regularly.

TV system was something we have not come across ROKU TV, difficult to navigate and we could not get channels. Asked for someone to come and help but due to the restaurant being so busy, no one came up to our room. A proper written instruction guide would be very useful in the room and also a guest information folder in the room for local attractions, bus services, as it is on a main bus route, would, I think be very helpful.

Excellent hotel! Young female traveller here! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean and professional looking with a warm feeling to it. The restaurant and bar was lovely, big enough to relax in and the food was excellent! My single hotel room was cute and clean, perfect for a solo traveller. The bedding was fresh and I had lot of teas and coffees to drink whilst in my hotel room. The facilities were very good. Kettle, hairdryer and wardrobe, drawers, full length mirror. The photos provided are just what the hotel looks like in real life. Shout out to the lovely lady who works in the hotel. She covers the reception and breakfast bar in the morning. She was so friendly and lovely and couldn’t do enough to help me. Thank you for making me feel so comfortable :)

Wow wow wow is all I can say about the food in the restaurant it has to have been the best Turkish food I have ever had outside of turkey. The cheese cake is by far the best ever, don't know how the restaurant wasn't full. the staff were lovely, felt like nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable but unfortunately only 2 plug sockets and that was for the TV and kettle. 30 min walk into the center but was less than £6 in a taxi to get back. The breakfast was ok, no choice just 1 option but the bacon was very good quality.

All staff were outstanding and treated myself and my wife like family. In particular the owner Kemal and Monica on the reception could not do enough to ensure our stay was excellent and all expectations met and mostly exceeded. The cooked breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was a good standard. The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, and tea and coffee was provided. Also of note, the newly refurbished bar was very nice, and a glass of wine and a pint of beer was actually cheaper than a nearby local pub. I will definitely book again when I return to Mansfield.

The only minor issue , which I was aware of when booking was that the Restaurant was being refurbished and was not due to open fully until the week following our visit. There was a limited Pasta menu available, but the disappointment was that I wasn't there a week later to dine in the new restaurant.

The establishment is in the stages of being refurbished, newly refurbished restaurant and bar area. Warm and comfortable bedrooms, and clean.

Back of property looked a bit unsightly because of furniture and other items placed against conservatory windows. Just a polite note - would be nice to have a notice in place informing guests on entering the bar area that there is an automatic 10% service charge applied on drinks and meals. Wasn’t aware of this prior to booking until after order placed and sat down to eat.

Breakfast was a basic English, help yourself on tea/coffee & toast & cereal. Room setting was nice.

Had to ask for more milk as only one very small jug of milk was out, for drinks & cereal. Would be nice to have a choice of beans or tomatoes Room .. tv (20”) could have been bigger. Bathroom .. no shelf to put things on. No bath mat for floor which was quiet slippy when wet In restaurant didn’t have some items on menu (even burgers). We opted for spaghetti bolognese, expensive meal for what you got as would not rate it.

Food is excellent and reasonably priced, you MUST try their cheesecakes, they're amazing. Staff are extremely attentive, always happy to help, Monica is an absolute credit to the hotel, very approachable and a cracking cook. Our room was on the front and it was a lovely big room with a nice view over Nottingham Rd, not overly noisy as you might expect. We both recommend 281 without a doubt, even if you just visit for a meal, you are missing out if you don't, it's a really comfortable place to stay. Thanks to all at 281.

I think a small sitting area with a sofa or 2 would be nice, other than the bar/restaurant there's nowhere down stairs with seating, but for a 3 star establishment, you can't really fault 281.

Room was clean and bed very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel has an excellent Turkish/Italian restaurant open 7 days per week for dinner. Best Turkish food I've had in a long time. Worth staying here just for the restaurant.

Loud noise, sounded like a loud extractor fan or very noisy central heating for about 45 mins between 6:45 and 7:30 am. Woke us up far sooner than we would have liked. Staff thought noise possibly from brewery delivery. Wouldn't put me off staying here again.

Staying at this hotel was an absolute pleasure! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was especially comfortable. The hotel itself had some great facilities, including a fantastic breakfast and bar which served drinks. Another thing that stood out to us was the excellent service we received throughout our stay. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable and enjoyable experience. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in the city. The combination of great location, comfortable accommodations, and exceptional service made our stay truly unforgettable. We can't wait to come back!
