excellent communication with the hosts prior to and during our stay, fantastic location, we stayed for 4 nights and the shower was sooo nice and hot - just what we needed after long hikes, we left for hikes very early so only ate once: the vegan curry for dinner was delicious and so was the breakfast - loved the fresh bread and mushrooms! kettle in the room very useful, two large tables and storage space in the room is great, 3 EV chargers at the large car park, we had a wonderful holiday all was just perfect thank you :) would definitely return when in the area again and can highly recommend!

Quaint, countryside location. Old Victorian coaching inn. Wow factor mattress! Best nights 🌙 sleep I've had in Literally Years!! The mattress is So deep. Slept better than if I'd been the Princess and the Pea! No peas there! The landlord is sociable and humourous.

Having to pre-order breakfast. I understand that it's efficient, good business model, but I'm a 'mood-led person and my preferences are according to the moment. Having said that, the breakfast was very good, if a little limited for choices..

Really lovely room. Crisp sheets, very clean room and bonus to have a robe to put on. Very comfortable and quiet. Eric is a character and I enjoyed a few chats with him. Good hearty breakfast.

Sat Nav/ Siri gets glitchy as you get close to the inn....dont follow where it shows up on these as it sends you up a laneway and a good 5 minutes away from its true location. Its on the main street and one back from the petrol station.

The Rest and Be Thankful was a lovely place to stay! We arrived at around 7:30pm and were able to have a fantastic meal in the restaurant - 1 steak and 1 pork loin and the desserts were amazing too - a pineapple cheesecake and a banoffee pie - delicious! The bar was open until late and it was great to see and chat with the friendly locals that came in. The room was lovely and had a double bed, a TV, tea/coffee making facilities and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. Sachets of body wash and shampoo were also in the room, which was great if you’d forgotten your own! Breakfast was included in the rate and on arrival you fill out a form of what you would like which was a fab way to do things. Served between 8-9am we had a great full English which was a great start to the day! Would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again if we were in the area!

Excellent breakfast - freshly cooked, really tasty and and the food was hot. Dinner menu offered plenty of choice and the dishes were also very tasty. Our room was quite spacious with a comfortable bed and everything was spotlessly clean

On a purely personal level, as someone with a small appetite, meals served were just too big and I left a lot of uneaten food on my plate so I would have preferred for vegetables and other side dishes to be served separately so that I could just take the amount I wanted. I appreciate that for most people this would not be a problem!

Really warm welcome, everyone is friendly, nothing too much trouble. Very comfy bed, great room. Even a log fire burning in the bar area. Ample mouthwatering breakfast- we were late coming back from an early morning deerwatch, and Eric kindly agreed to prepare us breakfast when we eventually arrived back. Sunday roast was being prepared and smelt delicious, shame I couldn't stay any longer. Hope to return soon. One of the nicest pubs I've stayed in for a very long while.

The rooms we had were adequate. Bath towels were changed every day and clean cups provided etc. The breakfast choices and the food at breakfast and evening meals were excellent.

Both rooms and the overall decor could have done with a refresh and some new carpet. There was an annoying intermittent fan going on and off all night which interrupted our sleep.

We visit the area regularly as we have relatives there, so we have eaten many times at the Rest and Be Thankful. On the night of our stay, the carvery was on offer, which neither of us wanted. There was a limited choice of other options, which we were a little disappointed with. That is the only criticism; as I said, we have had many excellent meals previously at this inn.

Excellent breakfast with enough choice. The location is good for exploring all over Exmoor and visiting Minehead etc. We were made very welcome by Eric, Caroline and the team and nothing was too much trouble.
