Excellent stay at The Northumberland Arms, it was an amazing find. Just off the A1 on our trip pup to the highlands, we arrived and were allocated a fabulous room with a huge bathroom, everything you can think of had been thought of, the bed was super comfortable with quality bedding, robes, coffee/tea facilities, the bath and shower were excellent. The whole place was really friendly, bar great with a great buzz about it, food in the restaurant was excellent and service spot on. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again if in the area, perfectly located.

Nothing, everything was excellent

We visited for a friends wedding in the nearby village of Eshott and decided to stay 3 nights, with partner and pet dog. Loads of people from the wedding went here the day before and the day after! Breakfast, dinner and their Sunday roast were excellent, you can really tell the quality of the food and the pride the chef's take in preparing meals and our dog has never been as spoilt with the Doggie dinner and ice cream as well as attention from the staff. The pet friendly room we were in had plenty of space for a crate, the bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was luxurious, with great quality fixtures and features. The staff and locals were really friendly and helpful, it felt like we was staying at a mates!

The location is great for exploring the area. The decor is well maintained throughout. The ambience is perfect, whether relaxing in the bar or dining in the restaurant. Great selection of drinks and fantastic menus to choose from. The staff were very helpful and accomdating. Great views of the river from the outdoor seating area.

In the room we had, there wasn't a socket near the bed or a bedside cabinet / shelf for charging or placing items on. The nearest free socket was on the wall opposite the end of the bed.

We had to leave early on the Sunday morning, but the chef came in to make us hot breakfast sandwiches to go, which was greatly appreciated. Dinner on the Saturday night was lovely - we really enjoyed it.

The only small thing was that (presumably in the bar downstairs) there was a speaker playing music. Ironically, we couldn't hear it in the bar, but in the quiet of the bedroom it was directly below our bed. Anyway, the room was massive, the bed was huge and comfortable, and the music switched off when the bar closed at c11pm.

Lovely hotel with a thriving pub/restaurant great food and locally brewed real ale. The room was very nice with a great bathroom, comfy bed and a real quality feel to it. The location is in a small village but within easy reach of the coast and Alnwick so very quiet. There is an extensive outdoor drinking/dining area which must be great in the warmer months. Dinner was great- a decent menu at sensible prices.Lovely extensive breakfast the morning after summed it all up for us- an excellent stay

Nothing- would very happily stay there again if we were in that area.

The entire stay at the Northumberland was fantastic.The ambiance on arrival was welcoming,all staff where friendly,food,room and location was excellent for our stay.Car parking opposite the hotel was ideal,safe and visible. All the hotel staff were polite and went out of their way to ensure that our experience was enjoyable.It simply could not have been better.I would strongly recommend this venue.

As we arrived and looked at the building and location we could tell it was the perfect choice. After entering the beautiful building we found very friendly staff and was looked after from the start. We arrived early and we were told the room was almost ready so would we like a glass of wine and was shown to a lovely little setting area. The manager came over to say hello and wow! (Trevor)He was perfect host! The first morning the chef came out to ask if everything was OK.......Breakfast/evening meal was exceptional. My compliments to Gary one of the chef's. 5 🌟 to for everyone and everything at this beautiful venue. We will definitely recommend and return ASAP. Kind regards Paul and Nicola x

Nothing....... too much quality food,drink and feeling special.

A very good pub with rooms. Of note, the staff were invariably helpful, attentive and friendly - in particular the deputy manager, Rob, who went out of his way to make us (and our two dogs) welcome; the room was spacious and comfortable with an excellent bathroom; and the food was good.

We travelled with two dogs. They were welcome in the bar and bedroom but £15 per night per dog (in our case, £30) is somewhat expensive (but we knew this when we booked the room).

We needed an early leave time to attend a function elsewhere and the Northumbria Arms were extremely accommodating. We needed to be away before breakfast was served and they spoke to the chef to arrange for him to come in early to accommodate us which was a really nice thing to do for us even though we said it was okay as it was our problem due to having to leave early.

Every aspect of the hotel is well managed and the attention to detail around customer satisfaction is faultless.

I read the positive reviews others had lead for this hotel and this was influential in my selection. My wife and I loved our 6 night stay there - the staff are wonderfula nd engaging, the room very nice with good bathroom and very conmfortable bed and sheets. The restaurant food was very good and we really loved the twice cooked souffle. Car parking over the road was very good and the small town very pretty on the river .
